- This card can be searched by "Single Purchase", "Temple of the Kings", "Sangan", "Rescue Ferret", "Vampire Dragon", "Dark General Freed", "Creeping Darkness", "Summoner Monk", "Soul Rope", "Resonator Engine", "Dragunity Corsesca", "Transmodify", "Painful Escape", "Ties of the Brethren", "Archfiend Heiress", "Archfiend Palabyrinth", "Pandemonium", "Skilled Red Magician", "Mystic Potato", "Mystic Tomato", "Chaos Zone" and "Lucent, Netherlord of Dark World".
- This card is potentially very useful in "Dark World" and "Fabled" Decks.
- Its first effect makes it easy to discard cards from your hand - notice that the discard is not a cost.
- Its second effect makes it easy to retrieve "Dark World" monsters banished with "The Gates of Dark World" or "Allure of Darkness" (and it is a DARK Fiend itself, making it compatible with those cards).
- This card is also useful in an "Archfiend" Deck, allowing you to return "Stygian Street Patrol" to your hand.
- When playing first in a Deck that uses "Archfiend Emperor, the First Lord of Horror", "Trance Archfiend" can be used to easily get "Archfiend Emperor" into the Graveyard for revival by "Archfiend's Roar", "Archfiend Cavalry" or "Archfiend Empress". This card can be used to recover a monster that was banished as a cost for the effect of "Archfiend Emperor".
- This card has synergy with "Hundred Eyes Dragon".
- When this card is destroyed, you can add a "Battle Fader" or "Genex Ally Birdman" you've used back to your hand.
- In an "Exodia"/"Forbidden One" Deck, you can recover one of your banished of the "Exodia" limbs. If you have all but one "Exodia" limb because your opponent managed to banish the last one, use this card's effect to recover that part and win the Duel. Just make sure there enough LPs to destroy this card by battle itself.
- Use this card with "Infernity" monsters to quickly empty your hand.
- This card can be Special Summon from the Graveyard using "Archfiend's Roar". At the End Phase, it gets destroyed, allowing its second effect to get back one of the banished DARK monsters.
- This can be especially useful in "Dark World" Decks, as mentioned above.
Traditional Format
- This card can be searched by "Last Will" and "Witch of the Black Forest".
