"Elemental HERO" (E・HERO Erementaru Hīrō) is a "HERO" sub-archetype of mostly Warrior monsters used by both Jaden Yuki and Aster Phoenix (for a period of time until the latter changed to the "Destiny HERO" archetype) in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. The former also used this archetype, along with his mentor Koyo Hibiki, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga. They are used by Fusion Mask in the Yu-Gi-Oh! D Team ZEXAL manga.
They were designed by Kazuki Takahashi, and are based on comic-book superheroes in the anime and on natural elements in the manga.
"Elemental HERO" Decks focus heavily on Fusion Summoning. Most of these fall into two primary "Elemental HERO" monsters categories that can be fused with one another: Normal Monsters from the anime (monsters that are specifically required as materials for Fusion Summons) and the manga counterparts that also have effects (while the Fusion Monsters require generic Fusion Materials).
==Design==The "Elemental HERO" (Japanese: E・HERO monsters are based after the western comicsErementaru Hīrō) is a heroes, and as the name implies, they each represent an aspect of nature. This goes beyond only representing classical elements like earth, fire or water; "Elemental HEROWildheart" sub-archetype of mostly Warrior-Type monsters, used mainly by Jaden Yuki in for example, represents the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime and in its manga adaptationwilderness. Their Aster Phoenix and Koyo HibikiFusion Monster have also used them in s typically combine the anime and manga, respectively. They were designed by Kazuki Takahashi, and are themed after comic-book superheroes aspects from the anime and are based off natural elements in the manga. "Elemental HERO" Decks focus heavily on their Fusion SummonMaterialing. Most of the primary "Elemental HERO" monsters can be fused with one another, allowing for an enormous amount of flexibility in a dedicated Decks.
The In the OCGYu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, all of the Main Deck was based off monsters introduced in the anime but is unrelated , except "Elemental HERO Neos" and completely different from "Prisma", follow the naming scheme "Elemental HERO [Term related to its element] Man" (or "Lady", in the animecase of "Elemental HERO Burstinatrix" aka "Burst Lady"). In the manga, only "Jaden YukiElemental HERO Woodsman" ("Forestman" in the 's 'OCG) and "monstersStratos are more nature based. These monsters have been released later than " ("Airman" in the Elemental HEROs from OCG) follow the anime including scheme while others like "Ice Edge", or "OceanHeat", do not. "WoodsmanCaptain Gold"is unique to the OCG/TCG and doesn't follow the naming scheme, but later cards like "HeatBlazeman", "Lady HeatSolid Soldier" ("Solidman") and "VolticLiquid Soldier"("Liquidman") do.

==GroupingPlaying style==The "Avian", "archetype has many BurstinatrixMain Deck", "monsters and ClaymanExtra Deck" and "Bubbleman" are often grouped together because there is at least one Fusion Monster for each pair of them (except "Clayman" and "Avian"), as well as "Elemental HERO Electrum" using all four as Fusion Materials, each with their own varied effects. "Necroshade"Historically, the archetype can be built to focus on their Main Deck monsters or their Fusion Monsters; currently, the Main Deck "Wildheart" and "Bladedge" monsters are often grouped together because there is at least one Fusion Monster for each pair too weak in contrast to the general power level of themthe game, except "Necroshade" and later "Bladedge". Even though "Sparkman" was introduced very early on and is usually on cards like "support leaned into their Fifth Hope" and "HERO's Bond" with the first group, it only has a 2 Material Fusion Monster with "Clayman" (and the 3 Material "Elemental HERO TempestSummon"), unlike the rest; however, "Sparkman" does have Fusion Monsters with "Necroshade" and "Bladedge", making it questionable which he should be grouped ining playstyle more favorably.
Similarly, the manga The pure "Elemental HERO" playstyle aims to Fusion Summon their Extra Deck Fusion boss monsters are also grouped together since they don't have fusions with the anime by searching out their required Fusion Materials and "Polymerization"/"Fusion" Spell Cards as quickly as possible. This can be done through a combination of specific "Elemental HERO" monsterssupport cards (e.g. These include "Elemental A Hero Lives" and "E - Emergency Call"), generic "HERO Heat", support cards (e.g. "Lady HeatStratos", "WoodsmanShadow Mist" and "OceanVyon"), and non-archetypal Warrior support cards (e.g. "Reinforcement of the Army").
LastlyThe "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters typically have battle-focused effects with little defensive capabilities. Most "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters also require Fusion Materials with specific names, but some of them have more generic materials, thus are much easier to summon. The 6 most notable ones are "Elemental HERO Great Tornado", "Nova Master", "The Shining" , "Escuridao", "Absolute Zero", and "Gaia", which require 1 "Elemental HERO" monster and a monster with a specific Attribute as their materials, making them useful choices to summon with "Super Polymerization" by using an opponent's monster as material. Among these 6, "Escuridao" and "Absolute Zero" are considered the most commonly used, because "Escuridao's" DARK Attribute is ubiquitous when mixed with other "HERO" monsters, and "Absolute Zero" has a group very strong effect, and also only requires a "HERO" monster rather than an "Elemental HERO" monster as its material, making it even easier to Summon in a general "HERO" Deck. Following behind are "Elemental HERO Sunrise" and "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage" whose materials can make use of the varying Attributes of their own due "Elemental HERO" monsters and they both have effects to their superiority over otherssearch out yet another card that can Summon another "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster ("Miracle Fusion" and "Favorite Contact"). "Wake Up Your Elemental HERO" is the archetype's powerhouse that requires any number of Warrior monsters and an "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster, which can easily use close out games with its powerful attacks and can float into any Warrior monster from the Deck upon its destruction.
An "Elemental HERO Neos" falls under no group within Deck can consider running "King of the Swamp" and other Fusion Substitute Monsters for "Elemental HERO" monsters, and is instead seen as having his own group Fusion Monsters with a different archetype, the "Neo-Spacians"specified materials.
Design
The Elemental HEROes' designs are based after the western comics' heroes. In the Japanese version, their nomenclature is "Elemental HERO (term related to its element) "man" (for the masculine heroes, with the only exception of "Prisma"). The only feminine heroes are "Burstinatrix", "Lady Heat", and "Poison Rose" (the first two having "Lady" instead of "Man" in their Japanese name). Some of the names are changed in the English version.
As the name says, the ===With "Elemental HEROesNeos" each represent an element of nature. In western culture, the main elements are fire, water, air, earth, light and darkness, but in eastern culture, more elements are considered, such as lightning, wood, metal and ice, though ice is many times not considered, since it's part of "waterNeo-Spacian".===Neo-Spacian#Playing style
The manga doesn't follow While "Elemental HERO Neos" is featured as main piece of the "Neo-Spacian" and "Neos" archetypes that usually uses Contact Fusion or other effects to Special Summon the Fusion Monsters that mention "Elemental HERO Neos" as material, this mainly differs from the traditional Fusion Summon playstyle of "Elemental HERO" in general. Over time however, the same "Neos"/"Neo-Spacian" theme has been integrated with the traditional "Elemental HERO" Fusion Summon playstyle by the introduction of newer support. These include: "Cross Keeper", the "EN" cards ("EN - Engage Neo Space", "EN Shuffle" and "EN Wave") and new "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters that must be Fusion Summoned such as "Elemental HERO Brave Neos", "Elemental HERO Neos Knight" and "Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman". In particular, "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage" facilitates the Summon of "Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman" by searching "Favorite Contact" which can Summon "Neos Wingman" during the anime, but opponent's turn to disrupt the heroes still are based after those same elementsopponent.

== Playing style ==Other "Elemental HERO" Decks mainly focus on using cards like support===Within the entire "Miracle FusionHERO"meta-archetype, the "Elemental HERO" archetypal playstyle is strongly supported by the "HERO", and combo ("Faris" to → "Increase a variety of " → "Vyons. For "Elemental HERO) since "Vyon" Fusion Monsters with specified names, can search out "King of the SwampPolymerization" and can send "Elemental HERO WoodsmanShadow Mist" can be used to search/recycle copies of "the PolymerizationGYto search out more needed "Elemental HERO" monsters. It has also become common to play The "Vision HERO" Xyz Fusion Monsters like , "Adoration",and " Trinity",are also good options for an "Steelswarm Roach", Elemental HERO"Deck to run due to their generic Fusion Blade Armor NinjaMaterials of just any " and "Maestroke the Symphony DjinnHERO"monsters.
As with the release of the "Omni HEROs" (The "Elemental Xtra HERO Nova Master", Link Monsters provide many helpful benefits to the "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero", playstyle. "Elemental Infernal Devicer", can directly search out up to 2 listed Fusion Materials on a "Elemental HERO The Shining"Fusion Monster, making it most strongly support the "Elemental HERO Escurido" and "Elemental Evil HERO Great Tornado"), as well the as two "Vision HEROs" ("Vision HERO Adoration" and playstyle of Fusion Summoning monsters with specific materials. "Vision Wonder Driver" can be fused together with each other, as well as other recover "HEROsPolymerization". The "Omni HEROsand " basically allow the Fusion"Elemental HEROs" to exist in any deck focused on an archetype of monsters with the same AttributeSpell Cards, and each Attribute allows these "Elemental HEROs" access to Attribute-specific support cardsmaking it useful for longer combos or grind games.
===How "Elemental HERO" monsters can be supports other "HERO" sub-archetypes===On the other side, the "Elemental HERO" archetype (specifically, a few individual members) are vital combo pieces to the overall "SearchedHERO from " meta-archetype playstyle. The most important "Elemental HERO" monster with regards to the Deck using entire "HERO" archetype is "E Elemental HERO Stratos", a non-once- Emergency Callper-turn searcher for all "HERO" monsters and the ideal choice for "A Hero Lives, ". "Elemental HERO Shadow Mist" is a once-per-turn searcher for all "HERO" monsters when Reinforcement of sent to the ArmyGY(usually by "Vision HERO Vyon"), but it is also a searcher for "Change" A Hero LivesSpell Cards, which enables the Hero SignalSpecial Summon of the powerful "Masked HERO" monsters (most notably "Dark Law, " and "Acid (who would also be a good qualification", since usually Summoned by using "HEROAbsolute Zero" decks rely on to perform a lot board wipe); the variety of Spell CardAttributes to add the "Elemental HERO" monsters have makes them ideal for summoning "Masked HERO" monsters with "Mask Change" or "Mask Change II" (while the Levels of "Masked HERO" Fusion Monsters align with those of "Elemental HERO" Fusion-Material Monstersfor "Form Change to your hand and "), making "Masked HERO" monsters good options even in a pure "Elemental HERO" build. In return, "Masked HERO" monsters themselves can be fused together for "Fusion SummonContrast HERO Chaos)" for its useful Quick Effect to negate a card's effects on the field.
Recycling "Fusion Material MonsterElemental HERO Solid Soldiers will allow you future use of fusion material. " and "Liquid Soldier is perfect for recyling " are good monsters to Normal Summon, as they can Summon Elemental needed "HERO " monsters and is perfect (usually "Shadow Mist" to search for comboing off of "Fusion GateMask Change ") and /or provide useful advantage after being used for a Fusion Summon (reviving a "HERO" monster from the GY via "Solid Soldier" or allows drawing of 2 cards+ a discard with "Liquid Soldier"). Lastly, "Honest Neos" is an ATK -booster for all "HERO" monsters, and "Sunrise" is a Fusion Monster will allow recycling with generic "HERO " Fusion Materials that can search out "Miracle Fusion", a powerful Fusion Spell Card that can use monsters from in the GY as Fusion Materials, allowing a Fusion Summon with zero card loss to the Graveyardfieldadvantage. "Wake Up Your Elemental HERO" requires an "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster and any number of Warrior monsters (ie. the vast majority of the "HERO" archetype) which can be used to close out games with its high ATK and its attacking-oriented effects, or be destroyed to Special Summon another "HERO" monster from the Deck.
Since cards like Torrential Tribute, Bottomless Trap Hole, or Mirror Force can cause the downfall of the deck (by destroying your Fusion Monster(s)), a great way to protect them is with Safe Zone. Not only does it protect your monsters, but it allows for a number of combos. If your opponent activates a Card effect that would destroy this set card, you can Chain it to one of your opponent's monsters and banish that monster upon the card's destruction. You can use Safe Zone to make an almost indestructible Monsters also require specific "Elemental HERO Ocean and keep returning Stratos to your hand, then Summon it to search for any "HERO" cardmonsters as their Fusion Materials, or even blow up a (minimum) of one Spell/Trap Card. You can also equip Safe Zone to one of your opponent's monsters so it which can't be destroyed by battle, and continue to attack aided with the targeted monster with Vision aforementioned "Xtra HERO Trinity in order to deplete your opponent's life pointsInfernal Devicer".
When playing "Elemental HERO" Decks, you find that a lot of times (with Fusion Gate and Miracle Fusion) that you are Banishing your monsters. D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation can easily take advantage of this. If things aren't going your way, or you need a back up plan, "D.D.R." would allow you to Special Summon as any banished monster you want, and turn the tides in your favor. Since this is a Special Summon, you can activate the first effect of both "Elemental HERO Shadow Mist" and "Elemental HERO Blazeman".===Recommended cards===
When using a variety ====Classic====This Deck list focuses on the playstyle of "Elemental HERO" monstersFusion Monsters that require specific Fusion Materials featured prominently in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. While it is outclassed by the current power level of the game, this playstyle still received various modern pieces of support, utilizing namely "Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer" and greatly benefits from the Change Quick-Play Spell Cards "Vision HERO" engine involving "Vision HERO Faris", "Vision HERO Increase" and "Vision HERO Vyon". After searching "Polymerization" with "Vyon", both itself and "Increase" can be used to Link Summon "Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer" which help for a quick and powerful summon using your easily search the pair of Fusion Materials needed. Alternatively, one could use the searched "Polymerization" instead to Fusion Summon more generic choices, more notably "Elemental HERO Sunrise" or "Elemental HERO Monsters Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage" which can search cards to special summon Masked Summon yet another "Elemental HEROes" Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck.
There is a great combo using Mask Change, Elemental HERO Absolute Zero, and Masked HERO Acid. First fuse any HERO monster and a water attributed monster with Polymerization, or any card that can fuse {{Decklist|Recommended cards|normal monsters, to get = * Elemental HERO Absolute ZeroAvian. Use Mask Change to send * Elemental HERO Absolute ZeroBurstinatrix back to the Graveyard and summon Masked HERO Acid, remember that when Elemental HERO Absolute Zero is removed from the field, it destroys all of your opponents monsters, and Masked HERO Acid's effect says that when it is summoned to the field all of your opponents traps/spells are destroyed effectively clearing your opponents field. This combo works perfectly because Masked HERO Acid only needs a water attributed monster like * Elemental HERO Absolute ZeroClayman and a Change card to be summoned. If your opponent tries to get rid of Elemental HERO Absolute Zero before you can summon Masked HERO Acid remember that Mask Change is a Quick-Play Spell Card, so you can chain it to any move your opponent makes. {{Decklist|Recommended Cards|color=|color2=|monsters =<!--This is not an exact Decklist. The effect of "Kinetic Soldier" increases its ATK by 2000 when it battles with Warrior-Type monsters, and thus is a great choice as a counter to most of these decks, so heavy Trap support like the "Solemn" series, "Bottomless Trap Hole", "Dimensional Prison" are recommended so the "HEROs" will able to survive in the early game. Since most "Elemental HERO" Decks heavily rely on Fusions to remain in the game long enough to bring "Elemental HERO Neos" and his fusions out, a good anti-spell Deck will eliminate the activation and use of "Polymerization" and Fusion Spells. Also a Deck with the ability to destroy Fusions, before and after summoning, will also make it easy to take down an "Elemental HERO" Deck. The trap card "Non-Fusion Area," for example, is nothing short of crippling to most "Elemental HERO Decks". "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell" is another example because it negates the activation and the effect of a Spell Card (in this case a Fusion Spell Card) and destroys it and stops the player from using the Fusion Spell Card that he/she tried to use again. Another good choice to permanently cease Fusions Spells in a Duel is "Armageddon Designator". "De-Fusion" will stop Fusion Monsters because the Fusion Material is in the controller's Graveyard, and the other player is able to return the Fusion Monsters without summoning the Fusion Material Monsters, although "Anti-Fusion Device" and "Steelswarm Sting" are good 1 for 1 second choices in simply destroying them. Since Fusion Summons are Special Summons, cards like "Royal Oppression", "Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo", "Archlord Kristya" and "Aurora Paragon" can interdict these Decks well—the latter two cards can also cut off use of additional support cards like "Elemental HERO Voltic", "A Hero Lives" and "Hero Signal". "Elemental HERO" Decks can be better chastened and repelled via cards like "King Tiger Wanghu", "Battle of the Elements", "Gozen Match" "Warrior Elimination", "Ryu Kokki", "Pestilence" and even "4-Starred Ladybug of Doom" (many "Elemental HERO" non-Fusion Monsters are Level 4). These may be just as efficient as anti-Special Summoning/Fusion destroyers, if not worse because their use can be much less passive than say, waiting for Fusion "Elemental HERO" Decks to grace the Field and have a more profound effect against such Decks. Finally, "Skill Drain" and/or "Angel O7" can cease and desist "HERO" effects, which would be significant against these Decks because without substantial Spell/Trap support, many of the "HERO" monsters, including quite a number of "HERO" Fusion Monsters, do not possess significant sustainability stat-wise whilst on the field. A deck that can beat "Elemental HERO" decks is a "Blackwing" deck, due to their fast swarming and destructive techniques.
Weaknesses
* "Elemental HERO" monsters often lack protection, and as such the player can often easily have their field cleared by mass destruction cards and effects like "Dark Hole", "Raigeki" and "Evenly Matched".
* Pure "Elemental HERO" monsters have very weak disruption and oppression power, having little ability to disrupt or prevent the opponent's plays.
* "Gozen Match" can significantly disrupt a pure "Elemental HERO" Deck due to their variety of Attributes.
* As all "Elemental HERO" non-Contact Fusion Monsters cannot be Special Summoned in other ways than Fusion Summon, cards like "Non-Fusion Area" and "Dimensional Barrier" can prevent these Fusion Monsters from being Summoned easily. Furthermore, cards like "Nekroz of Unicore" can have their effects negated.
* As "Elemental HERO" monsters are mostly Warrior-Type, cards such as "Cipher Soldier", "Warrior Elimination" and "There Can Be Only One" can pose as a threat to such decks.
