  • Judging by the armor, level, and equal ATK and DEF stats (which are both 1000 higher), it's likely this card is "Spirit of the Six Samurai" back when he was alive.
  • A shinai is a bamboo sword used in kendo,a sport based on samurai training.
  • Comparing the image on this card, as well as the image on "Legendary Six Samurai - Mizuho", it seems they are each standing on either side of the symbol of "The Six Samurai". It is possible that both card images might be a different side of the same image and that these two Samurai are both in the same place. This is possibly hinted by, or might just be a reference to their effects. Each can be special summoned when the other is on the field. Also both "Legendary Six Samurai - Mizuho" and "Legendary Six Samurai - Shinai" apparently wear the same necklace.
  • This card's name is slightly ironic. Nai can be translated as dead while Shi can be translated as death, and this monster might later on become Spirit of the Six Samurai.
  • Shinai is wielding two kanabo.
  • Legendary Six Samurai - Shinai and "Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En" both wear the "Six Samurai" symbol on their helmet, perhaps to show that they are similar in rank.
