- This card was first used in the DEATH-T Duel of the manga and Toei anime.
- Kaiba used this card on his "Saggi the Dark Clown", whose ATK raised from 600 to 1800. It destroyed Yugi's "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1", and several other monsters.
- The first Duel of the NAS anime is based on the DEATH-T Duel. However, by the time this episode was aired in Japan, "Dark Energy" was already released in the OCG with its official effect. To avoid a conflict with the OCG, "Negative Energy Generator" was created to replace it.
