TCG Rulings
- You can Normal Summon this monster.[1]
- Removing 1 Rock-Type monster from play is a cost. If you choose not to pay the cost, this monster is sent to the Graveyard.[1]
- The effect to halve the ATK and DEF of any monster that battles with this card is applied only during Damage Calculation.[1]
OCG Rulings
- Sending a Rock-Type monster to the Graveyard [sic] is an optional Maintenance Cost for "Gaia Plate the Earth Giant".[2]
- The effect "Halve the ATK and DEF of any monster that battles with this card." of "Gaia Plate the Earth Giant" is a Continuous Effect which is applied during Damage Calculation. This effect does not start a Chain.[3]
