- This is the first monster that's both a "Six Samurai" and a "Shien" monster.
- This card wears the same necklace as "Legendary Six Samurai - Shinai" and therefore might be related to him.
- Both "Shien" and "Legendary Six Samurai - Shinai" share the same hair colour.
- This card shares similar clothing with "Tenkabito Shien".
- This card is the first TCG-exclusive card to be the cover card of a Structure Deck, and the first Xyz monster to be included in a Structure Deck.
- This monster's appearance (especially the coat) resembles Nobunaga Oda from Koei's Samurai Warriors.
- This monster may be an older version of "Kagemusha of the Blue Flame" and "Kagemusha of the Six Samurai".
- This is the first Six Samurai Xyz Monster to be released.
- This card's effect is similar to that of "Cybernetic Magician".
- Like "Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En" and "Great Shogun Shien", this card has 2500 ATK.
- Due to this, and due to the fact, that Xyz monsters represent the next generation, it might be that "Kagemusha of the Six Samurai" became a Shogun in the future (of the original, "The Six Samurai" monsters).
- His name suggests, that he was "a mere shadow" of the past shogun.
- Each new iteration of Shien has 1000 less DEF than the original, with "Great Shogun Shien" having 2400 DEF, "Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En" having 1400 DEF and "Shadow of the Six Samurai - Shien" having 400 DEF.
- This does not account for "Tenkabito Shien", however.
