Hi I recently returned to yugioh and want to be more competitive than I was in the past, but I also have a bit of a budget. I have built Battlin Boxers IRL and now I want to make baby raccoons. Here is my deck, hoping for any and all thoughts/suggestions. Keep in mind choices like the one Veiler and the dark bribe over wiretap are because I don't a wiretap or 2nd Veiler.

ALSO Very Important: Do you think this archetype can be competitive, more competitive than a Battlin Boxer build with techs of masked chameleon and Kaiser Colosseum? Thanks for any help!

First off, no. Raccoons are very casual, even the Raccoon-Inzektor builds formed around Insect Imitation aren't as competitive as Boxers. But there are some things that make the deck really fun to play, but Raccoons are pretty casual. Knowing that, do you want to continue and make them as a fun deck? I have some ideas that I've tried that are pretty cheap and make the deck a bit more interesting. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 20:03, July 8, 2014 (UTC)

OK I've had a lot of people tell me that raccoons are better and top more than boxers. Most people say that boxers are too easily stopped and can't compete at any events. I'd rather not build a fun deck just yet, but do you think I could pm you my boxer deck list and get your suggestions for edits and thoughts on its viability at regional competitions? I may have been a bit harsh on Raccoons. They have potential and they're harder to stop than Boxers, because let's face it, Boxers intend to only make Lead Yoke and are predictable. However, Raccoons probably do have a good number of advantages and killer plays that Boxers will never have. If you don't mind my change of opinion, I think you can take your Raccoon deck and have some success at a Regional. However, it's going to need some major(ish) edits at it's core. Also, you might want to build your deck with the next Forbidden and Limited list in mind, because this format's Regional competitions should be done by now. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 22:13, July 8, 2014 (UTC)

OK I'm a bit confused by the change but that's okay haha. So if this is better than Battlin boxers, what edits do you recommend? I've checked some other builds online and while it is a bit different, it is mostly similar to all builds that use junk synchron, so i was expecting major edits.

Well the change is due to the fact that I've played both decks and Raccoons do have some crazy good stuff they can do, which might just be better first turn. The rest of this wall of text will be divided into things I've done and real card suggestions.
  • One of the big things that I love about Schooled is that it can not only give you the monsters to make 64, but also tributes. I like to run 2 Beast King Barbaros and 1 Slifer The Sky Dragon in my Raccoon decks, because Barbaros becomes an instant field-nuke and Slifer just kills pretty much every Normal Summon in the game, and is almost impossible to stop (Obelisk is okay too). One of the nice things about Barbaros is that after you use Schooled, you can just summon Barb without the tributes. If one of the monsters you summoned is Elephun, you can make Leo, the Keeper of the Sacred Tree (Barb + Ele) and then make 64 to make a 3100 ATK Token. Leo just flicks off most things in the game, even Number 101: Silent Honor ARK.
  • The Earth - Hex-Sealed Fusion is a pretty nice way to summon Naturia Exterio. Summoning a Key Mouse off of Schooled and then tuning it with the other 2 Level 2 Beasts you brought out to make Naturia Beast is a common play, but Normal Summoning Hex-Sealed Fusion afterward and making Exterio can be game if you have a Fiendish Chain and Traps to back it up.
  • While I'm on the topic of the Extra deck, why no Junk Warrior? He can get pretty big when you leave some Raccoons out on the Field, especially if you're running Waboku to protect your first turn play of Ponpoko. Also, run 3 Synchron. Those Level 5 Synchros are no joke.
What do you think of the ideas I'm proposing? --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 02:49, July 9, 2014 (UTC)
