Z-ARC

Zarc or Z-Arc, is a character appearing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime. He is connected to Yuya Sakaki and his dimensional counterparts as his split soul is sealed within each one of them. He is the original owner of the Four Dimension Dragons. Before his revelation, he is known as The Darkness or Black Shadow residing inside Yuya Sakaki and his dimensional counterparts whom he has a strong connection with.

Appearance

Full body view of Zarc.

Zarc shares mixed traits to the four dimensional fragments. Zarc has silver hair with light green highlights, having striking similarities in hair design to the dual-hair color of all the dimensional fragments and Yuri's side-parted hair. He wears a blue and white jacket with orange borders, like Yugo's Duel Suit, and a black undershirt. He is shown to wear thick red-brownish gloves, black pants with a brown chaps, faded gold knee pads, dark-blue suspenders with faded gold buckles hanging from a red-brownish belt with two large holsters and a large faded gold buckle, and brown shoes with dark-blue outlines and straps.

Personalty

While Zarc's initial personality is unknown, he has been shown to be ruthlessly aggressive and extremely violent when Dueling, showing little regard or remorse for his opponents. He was also shown to take pleasure in harming his opponents and Dueling spectators in order to satisfy his hunger for power. His passion for entertaining duels is a similarity to Yuya's love for Action Duels, albeit different in that he shows little to no care for his opponents' well-being, willing to physically injure them ruthlessly like a gladiator, rather than make an amicable connection to both them and the audience.

Zarc's most defining trait is his lust for power, having been fueled by the crowd's desire for more brutal duels in the Real Solid Vision system. His desire to become stronger was so great, he had been driven to insanity, while also fueled by the anger of his four dragons.

Abilities

Zarc has the unique ability to hear the voices of Duel Monsters.[1]

History

Zarc was a resident of the Original Dimension. He was a Duelist who claimed to be able to hear the voices of monsters and connect his heart with them. Due to this, he was very skilled in Dueling and quickly gained the advantage on the field, soon becoming an undefeated Duel champion and widely known as a superstar in then newly conceived ARC System. He started to change after he accidentally severely injured one of his opponents yet the audience kept cheering for him, leading Zarc to believe such aggressive Dueling was fine if the audience desired it. Since then, Zarc's Dueling became more violent. At first, he simply wanted to answer his fans' expectations, however as he continued to Duel more and more, Zarc himself became obsessed with becoming the strongest.

Eventually in a tournament, he Summoned his four dragons to destroy everything in his way. Feeling that his dragons were also not yet satisfied with their battles and seeking to attain the strongest power, Zarc fused himself with his four dragons, becoming a single dragon that people called the Supreme Dragon King Zarc.

After Zarc's declaration of destruction, the armed military was unable to stop his continuous attacks on the world, and eventually he was only able to be opposed by other Duelists who collaborated with the military to stop him, but none were able to come close to matching his newly fused powers and were wiped away along with the opposing military forces.[1]

History

Arc League Championship

Zarc' second appearance.

The Darkness first appeared during Yuya's duel with Iggy Arlo, but was only recognized as a separate entity when Aura used her crystal ball on the out of control awakened Yuya while he was restrained by Gong, Reed, and Trout. Through her crystal ball, it was shown that the Darkness slowly tried to overwhelm both Yuya and Yuto's souls while they were still awakened, though Yuya fell unconscious from his awakening before it could do so.[2] Once Yuya regained his consciousness and realised its existence as well as Yuto's soul inside him, Yuya came to the realization that the Darkness was the one responsible for his violent Dueling against the Obelisk Force. This made Yuya scared for a moment, but he quickly dismissed it by remembering his father's encouraging words.[3]

Awakened Yugo with the Darkness.

The Darkness returned during Yuya's synchronized awakening with Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri after Roger activated the chip in Yuya's helmet. It gave Yugo and Yuri dark auras around them when Yuya Summoned "Template:Anime". The Darkness disappeared again after Yuya and his counterparts' synchronized awakening when they defeated Crow Hogan while the chip self destructed in the process.[4]

The Darkness made its return again when the Four Dimension Dragons sent Yuya and his counterparts into a synchronized awakening after all dragons appeared on the field.[5] However, the Darkness was suppressed once again after Zuzu arrived and her bracelet teleported Yugo and Yuri away while sending Yuya flying into the ceiling.[6]

Heartland City

Yuya and Yuto acknowledged the strong control the Darkness had over both of them each time they were awakened. Yuto recalled the Four Dimension Dragons' desire to become one and suspected that they have a strong connection to the Darkness. He also theorized that his current residence in Yuya's body may have had to do with "Dark Rebellion".[7] During Yuya and Shay's Duel against Gloria and Grace Tyler, Yuya was worried about Yuto's anger controlling him because the Darkness might return to possess them again.[8] When Sanders revealed that the Professor ordered him to eliminate Yuya specifically, Yuya and Yuto discussed that Leo Akaba might know something, which was why he wanted them eliminated.[9]

Zarc's demonic expression during his Duel with Lulu and Celina.

When a Parasite Monster tried to take over Yuya's mind, the Darkness destroyed it which caused Yuya to awaken briefly. The Darkness returned when Yuya's anger caused him and Yuto to awaken after seeing Zuzu under the Doktor's control. Together, they Summoned "Template:Anime" and defeated Lulu and Celina, destroying the lab in the process. The Darkness then disappeared after Yuya remained conscious.[10]

Duel Academy

When Yuya entered a synchronized awakening with his counterparts again, the Darkness also returned engulfing him and destroyed the cage around him.[1]

Deck

Most of his deck is unknown, but it is able to summon the Four Dimension Dragons. Before mastering the other three summoning methods, his ace monster appeared to be Template:Anime.
