Jinzo
- Call of the Haunted can be very useful combined with Jinzo. For example, if your opponent activates Heavy Storm. You can chain Call of the Haunted to Special Summon Jinzo before Heavy Storm resolves. Since Jinzo negates the effects of all face-up Trap Cards on the field, when Call of the Haunted is destroyed, and sent to the Graveyard by Heavy Storm, Jinzo is not destroyed, because Call of the Haunted's effect is negated by Jinzo.
- Playing Call of the Haunted on Jinzo in response to an opponent's trap will negate the opponent's trap.
- Playing Giant Trunade after you use Call of the Haunted on Jinzo allows you to recycle Call of the Haunted.
- This will also work with monsters that make Trap Cards unable to designate them as a target, such as Cyber Phoenix or cards that are immune to Trap Card effects, like Elemental Hero Wildheart.
Tyrant Dragon
- Like Jinzo, he will negate Call of the Haunted effect, he will then destroy it but he will not be destroyed since he negated it's effect before.
Monsters whose effects activate when they are destroyed
- If your opponent is activating Heavy Storm, you can activate Call of the Haunted to Special Summon Sangan. As Call of the Haunted is destroyed, it takes Sangan with it, so you can use Sangan's effect. The same also applies to summoning Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys. If you chain to Heavy Storm or Mystical Space Typhoon, you can use it to Special Summon Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, and since Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys being destroyed by Call of the Haunted is 'destroyed by a card effect', it's Trigger effect is activated during your next Standby Phase.
Giant Trunade
- If a monster revived by Call of the Haunted is tributed, it will not remove Call of the Haunted from the field. This makes Giant Trunade a huge asset, but the face-up leftover Call of the Haunted can interfere with Treeborn Frog's effect, since Treeborn Frog needs to have no Spell or Trap Cards on your side of the field, for it's effect to be able to activate.
- This is also useful with Trap negating monsters. (see above)
Protector of the Sanctuary
- If you activate Card Destruction or Disturbance Strategy, and then chain Call of the Haunted to revive Protector of the Sanctuary, your opponent will lose their hand without replacing it.

Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow
- Another well known combination is with Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow and Makyura the Destructor which can lead to an easy One Turn Kill (which is why Makyura is now forbidden). Makyura the Destructor is discarded by another card effect and Chick is ressurected from the graveyard by Call of the Haunted when the opponent is exposed and attacks. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, you can activate the first of its effects, returning 1 card on the field (Call of the Haunted) to its owner's hand, repeating the process until the opponent runs out of Life Points.
