OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Swordsman from a Distant Land" is a Trigger Effect that activates on the field. (The effect does not target. It always activates after damage calculation, if "Swordsman from a Distant Land" attacked an opponent's monster. It also activates if "Swordsman from a Distant Land" is destroyed by battle.)[1]
- During your Battle Phase, if your "Swordsman from a Distant Land" attacked an opponent's monster, that turn that this card attacked is counted as the first turn. During each player's turn, the count is increased by 1, then during the End Phase of the 5th turn, the monster that "Swordsman from a Distant Land" attacked is destroyed.[1]
- Destroying the monster during the End Phase of the 5th turn does not start a Chain Link.[1]
