Q&A Rulings

  • Q: I activate the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage", targeting a Set card in my opponent's Spell & Trap Zone. If the targeted card is "Dark World Brainwashing", and my opponent chains it, how does the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" resolve?
A: If the card targeted with the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" is chained and becomes face-up, the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" is not applied. (In this scenario, the effect of "Dark World Brainwashing" can be activated during this turn, also it is not sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase.)[1]
  • Q: I activated and resolved the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage", so that the targeted Set card in my opponent’s Spell & Trap Zone cannot be activated until the End Phase. If my opponent activates a "Mystical Space Typhoon" and destroys "Trickstar Light Stage", what happens to that Set card?
A: If "Trickstar Light Stage" is destroyed after applying its effect, the effect is no longer applied. The targeted card can now be activated normally, and it is not sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase if it is not activated at that time.[2]
  • Q: While "Trickstar Light Stage" is face-up in my Field Zone, a "Trickstar Lilybell" on my field attacks directly with its effect and inflicts battle damage to my opponent. At this time, does the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" inflict 200 damage to my opponent?
A: If a "Trickstar" monster inflicts battle damage to your opponent, the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" inflicts damage to your opponent immediately after damage calculation. In this scenario, the effect is immediately applied after damage calculation, then you can choose to activate the effect of "Trickstar Lilybell" that adds a "Trickstar" monster in your Graveyard to your hand.[3]
  • Q: "Trickstar Holly Angel" is face-up in my Extra Monster Zone, and "Trickstar Light Stage" is in my Field Zone. In this situation, when I Normal or Special Summon a "Trickstar Lilybell", the effect of "Trickstar Holly Angel" inflicts 200 damage to my opponent, and the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" inflicts a further 200 damage to my opponent. At this time, if my opponent activates the effect of their "D/D/D Rebel King Leonidas" that Special Summons it from the hand, what happens?
A: In this scenario, damage is immediately inflicted to your opponent by the effect of "Trickstar Holly Angel", and the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" is also immediately applied. In this scenario, if your opponent activates the effect of "D/D/D Rebel King Leonidas" that Special Summons it from the hand, the effect only increases LP by the amount of damage that was inflicted by "Trickstar Light Stage". LP are not gained for the damage that was inflicted by the effect of "Trickstar Holly Angel".[4]
  • Q: I activate the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" that targets a Set card in my opponent's Spell & Trap Zone and prevents my opponent from activating it until the End Phase. During the same turn, what happens if I activate "Bait Doll" and target that Set card?
A: If "Bait Doll" is activated and targets a Set card that the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" was applied to, reveal the targeted card as usual. If it is not a Trap Card, return it to its original state and shuffle "Bait Doll" into your Deck after it finishes resolving. If the targeted card is a Trap Card, it cannot be activated due to the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage", so the timing is incorrect and it will be destroyed by the effect of "Bait Doll". (Once again, "Bait Doll" is shuffled into your Deck after it finishes resolving.)[5]
  • Q: My opponent's "Relinquished" is equipped with a face-down "Trickstar Lilybell" that was in face-down Defense Position on my field. In this situation, during my Main Phase, can I activate the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" by targeting that face-down equipped "Trickstar Lilybell"?
A: As in this scenario, when the effect of "Relinquished" targets a face-down Defense Position monster, that monster will remain face-down when equipped. Therefore, since that monster is a Set card in the Spell & Trap Zone, you can target it with the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage". (In this case, a monster that is equipped as a face-down Equip Card cannot be activated, so it will be sent to the Graveyard when the End Phase effect is applied.)[6]
A: "Subterror Final Battle" is a Trap Card that Sets itself with its own effect after resolving, instead of being sent to the Graveyard. In this scenario, if a Set "Subterror Final Battle" that was targeted with the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" is chained and activated, it is Set again after resolving, and it is no longer treated as the card targeted by the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage". Therefore, the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" that prevents that Set card from being activated and sends it to the Graveyard during the End Phase is not applied.[7]
A: When the effect of each "Trickstar Lycoris" is applied, the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" will also apply each time. In this case, when each "Trickstar Lycoris" inflicts 200 damage, "Trickstar Light Stage" inflicts another 200 damage. As a result, if there are 3 copies of "Trickstar Lycoris", this happens 3 times and your opponent takes 1200 damage in total.[8]
