Card Trivia:Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon

- This monster is the cover card for The New Challengers.
- "Dark Rebellion" and its evolved form, "Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon", allude to brutality, riots, and revolution.
- "Dark Rebellion's" summon chant in the Japanese dub describe it has having "treacherous fangs". "Dark Requiem's" contains the words "Sing the songs of rebellion dedicated to the restless souls", alluding those who died in revolutionary conflicts. In the English dub, "Dark Rebellion" is called "Dangerous" and "Relentless" in its summon chant.
- The name of its effect in the Japanese dub is Treason Discharge. Both it and its evolved counterpart's effects have a harsher connotation, as they essentially rob their opponents' Monsters of their life force(Halving or reducing their ATK to 0) in order to strengthen themselves(Increasing their own ATK by the same amount).
- The names of these two Monster's attacks both contain the word "Disobey" in the Japanese dub.
- "Dark Requiem" is the more violent of the two, since it drains other Monsters' ATK completely and "kills" Monsters that activate their effects and revives a fallen Xyz Monster("Dark Rebellion" being a prime example) afterwards, which can lead to two direct attacks in one turn, possibly resulting in a One Turn Kill.
- Their owner, Yuto, is furious with the Fusion Dimension and Duel Academy for destroying his hometown, and is battle-hardened.
- This monster is the Xyz counterpart of "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon", "Clear Wing Synchro Dragon", and "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon".
- The orbs on its wings that start to glow before it attacks are similar to the ones on "Odd-Eyes" that do the same thing.
- In the anime, the signature users of all four monsters, Yugo, Yuto, Yuri and Yuya, also share very similar appearances to the point that they were mistaken for each other.
- This monster's initial roar is the same as that of "Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon", just as how "Odd-Eyes" reuses the roar of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" and "Clear Wing" reuses the roar of "Number 99: Utopic Dragon". However it abandons this roar for the simple snarl that also played during its initial Summoning in later appearances.
- Also, like "Clear Wing", its effect allows it to gain ATK dependent on the target of its effect.
- This card has an evolved form in "Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon".
- It also shares a hybrid evolved form with "Odd-Eyes" in "Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon".
- This card is the first Xyz Monster to be Summoned in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime.
- It is also the first Xyz Monster to be used by Yuya Sakaki, the series' main character.
- This card's artwork has it a pose similar to the art of "Number 39: Utopia" and shares the same stats. Its effect instead references "Number 96: Dark Mist".
- This monster has the following distinctions from the other Four Dimension Dragons:
- It is the only member to not have a silhouette before it is revealed.
- However, it did have a silhouette when it first clashed with "Clear Wing" in episode 18. According to director Katsuni Ono, this scene was intended to take place before "Dark Rebellion" physically debuted in episode 7
- As an Xyz Monster, it is the only member that does not possess a Level.
- It is the only member to have only one effect. (As a Pendulum Monster, "Odd-Eyes" has both a Pendulum Effect (two in the TCG/OCG) and a monster effect.) It can, however, use its effect twice per turn (only in the anime though).
- So far, it is the only member to appear in both the anime and the manga, as the rest are replaced by their manga counterparts.
- It is the only member to not have a silhouette before it is revealed.
