This card is named after Sarracenia, a genus of 8 to 11 species of North American pitcher plants.
- Its mechanism to trap the prey is similar with Nepenthes. The difference is that the leaves of Sarracenia have evolved into a funnel or pitcher shape in order to trap insects, while Nepenthes produced the pitcher from the end of its leaves.
