A Ritual Duel being conduced 5000 years ago.

The Festival of Duality, known as Ritual of the Sun and Moon (陰陽祭 Onmyō-sai) in the Japanese version, is a religious Ritual Duel which was conduced in ancient times.

Etymology

Onmyō (陰陽) represents cosmic dual forces, the Yin and yang. This may make reference to the Duel Priest representing a negative force (the yin or the moon/night) and the Duel Priestess a positive one (the yang or the sun/day).

Story

The Ritual Duel is conduced between a Duel Priest and a Duel Priestess inside the Aerial Fortress Seibal, and it involves the ressurection of the Ultimate God.

Flow

The Ritual is begun with the Turbo Duel against a Duel Priest and Priestess towards Seibal, whose winner is declared the King of Earth's Lock (Supreme King of the Earthbound Lock in the Japanese version).[1] Then, inside the Fortress, two more Duels occur between Duel Priests: one in the Northern-Sky Corridor and one in the Southern-Sky Corridor. The winners of these Duels Duel against each other, and the final winner becomes the King of Sky's Lock (Supreme King of the Heavenly Lock in the Japanese version).[2] Both Kings than Duel each other in a final Duel. Meanwhile, the defeated Duel Priestess is offered to the Ultimate God as a sacrifice.[3] The outcome of the Duel decides whether the Ultimate God will be ressurected or sealed again, and the final winner becomes the "Supreme King of the Unlocking".[4]
