Quick Effect (誘発即時効果, Yūhatsu Sokuji Kōka; previously known as Multi-Trigger Effect in the TCG) is the only Monster Effect that are Spell Speed 2. It is any monster effect that could be activated during Summon negation window, or could be chained "in response" to another activation.

Monsters effects that negate the activations or the Summons are all Quick Effects. Monsters that have other Quick Effects usually have: "This effect can be activated during either player's turn", or something similar in its card text. The card rulings may also indicate if the effect it has is a Quick Effect or not.

Following the Problem-Solving Card Text, any effect that has "During either player's/your opponent's turn:" or similar text, is a Quick Effect. Some monsters like "Swift Scarecrow" may indicate in its text that the effect is a Quick Effect.

Most Quick Effects can be activated more than once in a chain, while some others cannot, such as "Light and Darkness Dragon", because such specific cards have rulings stating that they can only activate once per chain.

Since chains resolve backwards, the chain would resolve as follows:

In this scenario, the following would happen:

NOTE: "Light and Darkness Dragon" Negates "Fissure" even though it is flipped face-down, since "Light and Darkness Dragon"'s effect does not require "Light and Darkness Dragon" to be face up on the field for it to resolve.

NOTE: There was some confusion in this article regarding "Trigger Quick Effects" and "Multi Trigger Quick Effects". Incorrect information stated that "Light and Darkness Dragon"'s effect was considered a Trigger Quick effect, and therefore could not be activated multiple times in a chain. There is no such thing as a Trigger Quick Effect, and the term "Multi Trigger Quick Effect" is not currently used anymore. Multi Trigger effects have since been renamed to "Quick Effects". The only reason "Light and Darkness Dragon" cannot be activated multiple times in a chain is because Konami has ruled so. Their reason for this is to prevent "Light and Darkness Dragon" from negating his own effect over and over in the same chain.
