I saw that this page was edited to include this fact and have been trying to edit the Fandom wiki to do the same, but Pitifulheartles keeps reverting my edits because he's worried about Yugipedia DMCA-ing the Fandom wiki for "plagiarism" (he didn't even try to reword it himself, he just completely reverted it back to what it was). I already did what I could to change up the wording, so I'm at a loss on what to do. :Yes, the Odd-Eyes alt art makes it tricky to quantify, particularly with how much later it is. From memory though the arts of Pendulum Monsters in the video games ''are'' all the same dimensions though, so it might just be a case of not wanting to hide so much of the art in the text box, which is understandable.

Pendulum List[edit]

Shouldn't We give a list of pendulum monsters? Mmmmmmmmmm12 (talkcontribs) 19:32, May 27, 2014 (UTC)

We already have one. NovaTsukimori (talkcontribs) 19:35, May 27, 2014 (UTC)

Pendulum x Banishing cards[edit]

I'm a Ygopro Players, and i recently played using "Masked HERO Dark Law" agains Qliphorts. Each time i destroyed their Pendulum monsters, instead of returning to the Extra Deck, they were banished. Is it okay? --OnePiece (talkcontribs) 17:25, January 1, 2015 (UTC)

No, it shouldn't do that. Dark Law banishes anything that would be sent to the Graveyard, but Pendulum Monsters go to the Extra Deck instead of the Graveyard, so they should bypass its effect. That problem was also on DevPro for a while, but last time I dueled like that it was fixed. A Wikia contirutor (talkcontribs) 17:38, January 1, 2015 (UTC)
It seems that Pendulum Monsters going to the Extra Deck = the Graveyard if they're sent there from the field, even though they go to the Extra Deck. I always figured, "As they would go to the Extra Deck as a result of going from the field to the Graveyard like they would normally, since they don't go to the Graveyard (and thus the Extra Deck), the rule that sends them to the Extra Deck as a result of going from the field to the Graveyard doesn't apply." But who knows, what if I'm wrong? This seems more like a conversation to be shared in a forum though.

Thanks[edit]

Maybe it's an error of Ygopro. I think i will talk about it in the forum --OnePiece (talkcontribs) 21:44, January 1, 2015 (UTC)

Fusion, Tribute and Synchro summon Material[edit]

In the page text "When a Pendulum Monster (even if it is face-down) would be sent from the field to the Graveyard, either as a Monster Card or Spell Card, it is placed face-up in the Extra Deck Zone instead", This means that if the card is send to graveyard as begin tributed or used as fusion or synchro material they are placed in the extra deck? I never see in the anime (due begin never show or explained) Old Eyes begin placed in the extra deck after begin fused whit other monster --Dragonempeorslayer (talkcontribs) 02:55, January 28, 2015 (UTC)

Yes. If it would go directly from the field to the Graveyard for any reason, it will be placed face-up in the Extra Deck instead of ever actually going to the Graveyard, which allows for a lot of tricky plays. The anime never had a chance to show this, nor did it have a reason to. Aeron Solo wuz here (If you wanna talk) 03:00, January 28, 2015 (UTC)

How Much as Spells?[edit]

If Pendulum Monsters are monsters that can be activated as Spell Cards, would they also be treated as Spell Cards while in the hand, Main Deck or Graveyard? Like, suppose someone wanted to use the effect of "Dark Magician of Chaos" to return a Pendulum Monster from their Graveyard to their hand.

If that's true, should this mechanic be added to the article? --Yes, it's PSYCHID! He talks! He does stuff! 13:34, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

Pendulum Monsters are only Spell cards in pendulum Zones, other than that, they are monsters, so they cannot be retrieved by "Dark Magician of Chaos" from the Graveyard.--Chadook (talkcontribs) 14:01, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

They're only treated as Spells in the Pendulum Zones. Anywhere else, they're monsters.ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 15:51, February 19, 2016 (UTC)
They don't. They only count as Spells on the field, and are monsters everywhere else. That's why they're referred to as "Pendulum Monsters" when being searched for through the deck, targeted in the Graveyard, or targeted while in the Extra Deck. And while they do count toward S/T on the field, they are never referred to as "Pendulum Spells," merely "Cards in the Pendulum Zone." Effect Box Transparency[edit]

I was testing some things with extracted Master Duel assets to try to figure out the exact point where the transparency of pendulum effect boxes ended for personal reasons. While doing this, I realized that duplicating the layer of the pendulum card frame and setting the duplicated layer to "difference" mode would be an easy way to see it. Surprisingly, when I did this, the entire effect box was showing transparency, with the transparency fading from the top of the box to the bottom. Flare Kyn (talkcontribs) 18:53, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

From memory, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is one of the best examples of this. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 20:10, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Oh wow, I didn't notice that. I just checked, and I can see Odd-Eyes' foot inside his monster effect box on several of his artworks. Flare Kyn (talkcontribs) 21:15, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
A couple of the ones I found are OddEyesPendulumDragon-SDMP-EN-C-1E.png and OddEyesPendulumDragon-DUPO-EN-UR-LE.png, though you have to zoom in pretty far to see them. I'm not entirely sure if these are the exceptions or the general rule, though. Flare Kyn (talkcontribs) 18:58, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
The reason I was bringing this up was because this page says that only the top part of the monster effect box is transparent, even though nearly the entire box has some level of transparency. Flare Kyn (talkcontribs) 03:44, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

Flare Kyn (talkcontribs) 19:32, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Yes, the Odd-Eyes alt art makes it tricky to quantify, particularly with how much later it is. From memory though the arts of Pendulum Monsters in the video games are all the same dimensions though, so it might just be a case of not wanting to hide so much of the art in the text box, which is understandable.
As a completely unbiased admin of this wiki, I would recommend you don't bother adding that information to the FANDOM wiki. That user is technically correct in that there are plagiarism concerns with doing so, regardless of their approach, so in general we'd prefer you stick to one wiki (and hopefully this one if possible).
