"The Lost Incident", known as "Incident Buried in Darkness" in the Japanese version, is the nineteenth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on September 20, 2017, became available with official subtitles via Crunchyroll on the same day, and aired in Canada on November 3, 2018.

Zaizen skillfully uses his "Tindangle" Deck to fight against Playmaker. Playmaker also fights back with his Cyberses. As their fierce battle rages on, Zaizen starts talking about the incident ten years ago. At last, Yusaku's past is finally unveiled...

Summary

"Decode Talker" and "Firewall Dragon" attack with the effect of "Linkage Hole".

The score stands with Playmaker on 2000 LP and controlling the currently 1800 ATK "Decode Talker" and 2500 ATK "Firewall Dragon", while Zaizen has 3900 LP and the 3000 ATK "Tindangle Hound", in addition to his face-down monster. Ghost Gal watches from behind Zaizen, while Blue Angel is concealed behind the doorway and Kitamura and Kolter watch from their office and Café Nom respectively. Kolter states that he's counting on Yusaku. Ghost Gal thinks in satisfaction that she knew Blue Angel would come, and she wonders what Akira will do now (in the dub, she instead thinks that "Firewall Dragon" is Playmaker's strongest monster and that Akira had better deal with it, replacing Zaizen's A.I's statements). Zaizen's A.I. informs him that "Firewall Dragon" is Playmaker's strongest monster, but Zaizen simply reminds Playmaker that the "Hell Howling" effect of "Tindangle Hound" will activate again, and as "Tindangle Hound" roars and releases waves of purple force, his A.I. reminds them that Link Monsters on the field will lose 1000 ATK for every monster linked to it. "Firewall Dragon" is reduced to 1500 ATK, and Ai gasps that it already lost ATK, but Playmaker immediately activates a Spell Card, "Linkage Hole". Since he controls a Link-4 or higher monster, this Spell destroys a monster on Zaizen's field for every Link-3 or higher monster he controls. He controls two; "Decode Talker" and "Firewall Dragon", so he destroys two monsters. "Decode Talker" and "Firewall Dragon" twirl into the air, releasing blasts of blue energy ("Decode Talker" from its sword and "Firewall Dragon" from its maw) that destroy "Tindangle Hound" and the face-down "Tindangle Angel". Zaizen gasps that Playmaker was able to destroy two monsters at once, and Ai notes that destroying them individually would activate their annoying effects, now he can't activate either, and he mock-laughs evilly (in the dub, he makes water puns in line with the motion of his arms, commenting that Zaizen is drowning in goo, while they're swimming with confidence). Playmaker adds that since the effect of "Tindangle Hound" is no longer applying, the ATK of his Link Monsters will return to normal, and "Decode Talker" and "Firewall Dragon" return to 2800 and 2500 ATK respectively. In addition, since Zaizen controls no monsters, his "Lemoine Point" is destroyed as well (this explanation is cut from the dub?). Playmaker orders "Decode Talker" to attack directly, and "Decode Talker" attacks with "Decode Destruction", twirling in the air before bringing its greatsword down and leaving a massive digital scar across Zaizen's chest. Zaizen is flung backwards, but he manages to flip and land in a crouch as his LP falls to 1100. Blue Angel whispers "big brother!" from her hiding place, and Zaizen's A.I. informs him that his LP is dangerously low (in the dub, it simply states that he has taken damage). Zaizen snaps that he knows. Ai crows that Playmaker's next attack will end him.

Zaizen gets up, the scar fading as he replies that is not happening, and he activates the Trap Card "Tindangle Delaunay". His A.I. explains that when there are three "Tindangle" monsters in Zaizen's Graveyard it can be activated when Zaizen takes battle damage. Zaizen explains that the monster that inflicted the damage is destroyed, and then he can Special Summon "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" from his Extra Deck. Playmaker gasps, "What?!" as "Decode Talker" explodes into yellow particles, and Ai screams their monster's name before collapsing on Playmaker's Duel Disk in deflation. Zaizen tells "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" to appear, and a pair of massive stone doors shaped like a tombstone materialize above him, glowing red before cranking open. Three lit flames burn inside it, before erupting forth and slamming onto the field, coalescing and revealing "Acute Cerberus" standing with 0 ATK. Ai yelps that this pooch is scarier than the previous one. Playmaker notes that it has zero ATK, and Ai snaps that it must have an effect (in the dub, their concerns are reversed). Indeed, Zaizen declares the effect of "Acute Cerberus", and his A.I. explains that it will gain 1500 ATK for each "Tindangle Hound" and "Tindangle Angel" in Zaizen's Graveyard, increasing it to 3000 ATK. Ai freaks out over the 3000 ATK, and Playmaker notes that the Duel thus far has been a setup. Ai observes that this must be Zaizen's ace monster and admits that this could be bad (in the dub, Ai comments that's what they get for being full of themselves; Playmaker tells Ai that it was just him). Playmaker Sets a card and ends his turn. Ghost Gal is impressed with Akira for summoning his ace monster during his opponent's turn.

The effect of "Doppler Phase Coating" protects "Firewall Dragon".

Zaizen declares his turn and draws, then immediately attacks "Firewall Dragon" with "Acute Cerberus", declaring "Isometric Inferno". "Acute Cerberus" opens all three of its heads to reveal each single eye and tongue, releasing three surges of flame that twist into a serpent of fire, rising above "Firewall Dragon". Ai screams that they'll lose if they lose "Firewall Dragon", and Playmaker replies that he knows. He activates the Trap Card "Doppler Phase Coating", equipping it to "Firewall Dragon". "Firewall Dragon" glows with a purple light and a blue energy sphere surrounds it, intercepting the flaming serpent. He explains that once per turn it will prevent the equipped monster from being destroyed in battle, but Zaizen reminds him that he will still take the damage, and the flames sweep over Playmaker, reducing his LP to 1500. Zaizen then activates the effect of "Acute Cerberus", and his A.I. explains that when "Acute Cerberus" inflicts battle damage, Zaizen can Special Summon a "Tindangle Token", and furthermore, "Acute Cerberus" gains 500 ATK for every "Tindangle" monster that it points to. "Acute Cerberus" rises to 3500 ATK, freaking Ai out as he repeats the value, and Playmaker replies that he can beat it (in the dub, he tells Ai that he can do the math too). Zaizen Sets two cards, ending his turn.

Playmaker declares his turn and draws, and Zaizen immediately activates another Trap Card, "Gergonne's End". His A.I. explains that it can be equipped to a "Tindangle" monsters, and it will prevent the equipped monster from being destroyed by battle or card effects, and prevent the opponent's effects from targeting it. Zaizen equips "Gergonne's End" to "Acute Cerberus", and his A.I. explains that when there monsters in all of the zones that it points to, Zaizen will be able to send "Gergonne's End" and all of those monsters to the Graveyard to inflict damage to Playmaker equal to the ATK of the equipped "Acute Cerberus" before they left the field. Ai screams in frustration, protesting that it's not fair; "Acute Cerberus" is invincible if it can't be destroyed by battle or effects (in the dub, he laments about the perfect offense and defense). Playmaker admits that Zaizen's Deck is unique, it's hard to figure out so it's difficult to deal with. Ai snaps that this is no time for commentary (in the dub, Playmaker tells him not to complain since it's pointless, and Ai tells him not to get philosophical with him), but Playmaker ignores him, noting that one of "Acute Cerberus'" Link Arrows points at his field, so "Gergonne's End" won't activate. Ai reminds Playmaker that he only has 1500 LP left, and Zaizen's "scary pooch" has 1000 more ATK than "Firewall Dragon", but if Zaizen summons a monster to a zone that it points to, the difference will be 1500.

The "Tindangle Token" is destroyed, but Zaizen's LP is unharmed.

Playmaker activates a Spell Card (in the dub, he notes that it's his job not to let Zaizen summon another monster), "Alert Lancer", which will allow Cyberse monsters to inflict piercing battle damage when they attack monsters in Defense Position this turn. Ai cries "Wow!" in English, admitting that he didn't think of that. The "Tindangle Token" has 0 DEF, so if Playmaker attacks it they'll win. Zaizen grits his teeth as Ai tells Playmaker to go, and Playmaker orders "Firewall Dragon" to attack the "Tindangle Token" with "Tempest Terahertz". "Firewall Dragon" glows red and unleashes its red beam, and Ai cries that this is the finish. But Zaizen activates a Trap Card, "Morley's Shield", and his A.I. explains that once per turn, it will reduce the battle damage Zaizen would receive when a "Tindangle" monster in the Main Monster Zone battles to zero. The "Tempest Terahertz" destroys the "Tindangle Token", and Zaizen states that his monster might have been destroyed, but he took no damage. Ai fumes that Zaizen dodged it, but since Zaizen's pooch isn't pointing to the monster anymore, it loses ATK, falling back to 3000.

Playmaker ends his turn, and Zaizen declares his turn and draws "Nagel's Protection". He explains that this card will stop another of Playmaker's strategies, and he activates the Continuous Spell Card "Nagel's Protection". His A.I. explains that it will prevent "Tindangle" monsters in the Main Monster Zones from being destroyed by battle or card effects, and Ai protests that they can't destroy Zaizen's Tokens anymore. Zaizen declares battle, attacking "Firewall Dragon" with "Acute Cerberus". "Acute Cerberus" releases the flaming serpent again, which slams into the shield generated by "Doppler Phase Coating". Ai reminds Zaizen that the effect of "Doppler Phase Coating" will prevent the destruction of "Firewall Dragon", and Zaizen retorts that he knows, before declaring the effect of "Nagel's Protecion". His A.I. explains that once per turn it will double the battle damage that a "Tindangle" monster inflicts, and Ai freaks (in the dub he cries "How dare you!") as fire rains down on Playmaker, reducing his LP to 500. As the battle is over, Zaizen activates the effect of "Acute Cerberus", and his A.I. once again states that it will Special Summon a "Tindangle Token". Zaizen reminds them that the effect of "Acute Cerberus" will increase its ATK by 500 for every monster it points to, and "Acute Cerberus" rises back to 3500 ATK, then Zaizen ends his turn.

Playmaker claims that Ai isn't his friend.

Ai screams "Oh no!" in English. He tells Playmaker that this is really bad, and Playmaker observes that "Morley's Shield" blocks damage, and "Nagel's Protection" saves Zaizen's monsters from destruction, so Playmaker can't stop Zaizen from summoning "Tindangle Tokens". If he meets the requirements for "Gergonne's End", Playmaker's LP will be reduced to zero, but even then if "Acute Cerberus" has the highest ATK, battle damage will be doubled, and since he only has 500 LP left, another attack will reduce them to zero (in the dub, Ai recaps this information until Playmaker points out that another attack will wipe them out). Ai waves his arms, suggesting that he do something about it in that case, but then he wonders what can be done. Playmaker tells him to stop panicking and asks if Ai is really an A.I (in the dub, Ai expresses concern over Playmaker's lack of fear and suggests he be more concerned; Playmaker asks why, as that won't help him win). Ai snaps that he's panicking because he knows the odds of defeat and he asks if Playmaker can turn this around. Playmaker replies that Ai should be thinking about his new home if he's that worried (in the dub, Ai reminds him that he'll be taken if Playmaker loses and he won't be around to give him positive advice if that happens, before calling him a mindless meatbag; Playmaker suggests he help Ai pack if that's his idea of positive reinforcement). Ai angrily asks if Playmaker is fine with them breaking apart their passionate friendship, and Playmaker reminds him that they're not friends (besties in the dub), causing Ai to turn white in defeat. He comments that Playmaker is colder than an A.I (in the dub he wonders how one noun, two verbs, and two pronouns could hurt so much). Playmaker replies that he doesn't need the warmth of other people, and suggests that Ai talk like an A.I. and explain the cards (in the dub, he is less harsh, stating that getting emotional will lead to mistakes at a critical juncture in the Duel). Ai huffs, grumpily acquiescing, and he mimics Roboppi, claiming that "stupid" is a forbidden word (in the dub, he mimics Playmaker after claiming that he's more of an A.I. that Ai is), and that their odds of winning are less than 5%. Playmaker corrects him; their odds are actually much lower than that, and Ai facefalls and flails. Playmaker reassures Ai that he doesn't need to worry about Playmaker losing, because he definitely won't lose, not until he uncovers the truth with his own hands. His Deck contains the feelings of the last ten years, and he will find the truth.

He draws, and Zaizen tells Playmaker that the card he drew will determine his destiny. Playmaker looks at the card, and Zaizen asks, "Well, Playmaker?" Playmaker Sets the card and ends his turn, and Zaizen muses that it looks like Playmaker can't do anything, but that is his destiny. He tells him to stop his revenge, let Zaizen handle this, and go back to his normal life, that's what's best for Playmaker. He should go to school, talk about the future with his friends. The days of youth are irreplaceable, and he should spend them with his friends. He'll cherish those memories in the future, but by being obsessed with the past, time is passing him by. He urges Playmaker not to let happiness slip away in front of his eyes as he did (in the dub, Zaizen comes off as more patronizing). Ai comments that Zaizen is saying there's something in front of Playmaker's eyes, and he asks where.

Blue Angel states that she wants to know what happened to move forward (in the dub, she is more concerned for Playmaker).

Before anyone can answer, Blue Angel calls "big brother!" and steps into view (in the dub, she sarcastically asks if it's all peaches and cream). Zaizen whispers her real name, while Playmaker mutters her Avatar name as she walks forwards, stating that before the Duel ends she wants to hear the true story; what happened ten years ago? Ghost Gal muses to herself that Blue Angel came out of hiding, and Blue Angel explains to Playmaker that LINK VRAINS has changed dramatically since he showed up. She doesn't know what she Duels for anymore, but if she learns what's going on, what Playmaker is fighting for, she feels like she can move forward. (In the dub, Blue Angel is instead more focused on Playmaker than her own feelings. She admits that what Zaizen is offering sounds good, but the fact that Playmaker is fighting so hard tells her that it's not easy for him to let go of his past, and she asks what happens, also noting that she doesn't like that her own brother is keeping secrets from her.) She asks Playmaker and Zaizen to tell them, and Zaizen whispers his sister's name. Ai adds that he wants to know too, and he points out that since Zaizen knows it's only a matter of time before his secret leaks out (in the dub he points out that most people here seem to know and wonders how interesting Playmaker's past could be anyway).

Zaizen agrees to tell them what happened, and Blue Angel looks at Playmaker (Ai cheerily cries "Story time!"), while Kitamura and Kolter watch as Zaizen explains that an incident occurred ten years ago, known as the Lost Incident. Six children disappeared one-by-one, kidnapped by a certain organization. Blue Angel and Kitamura ask "kidnapped"? Ghost Gal steps forwards, agreeing and stating that one of the six children was...(in the dub, she outright states that one was Playmaker). Blue Angel gasps in shock, asking Playmaker if it was him (in the dub, she states that she's sorry that happened to him). Kitamura is shocked to learn that Playmaker was one of the six children (in the dub, he admits that he can see why Playmaker is so angry now; Kolter's reaction is cut), and Kolter whispers Yusaku's name. Playmaker asks Zaizen to stop; he doesn't want someone else to tell his past. Zaizen's mouth tightens and he remains silent. Blue Angel turns to Playmaker and whispers his name, and Playmaker continues; after they were kidnapped, they were imprisoned separately (in the dub, he confirms Zaizen's story, but states that it was only the beginning).

As punishment for losing the Duels he played while he was kidnapped, Yusaku was electrocuted.

He remembers waking up in a white rectangular room, recounting that it contained nothing but VR equipment that showed a Duel field, and they were forced to Duel. He lost the Duel, and he was electrocuted as a result, throwing him backwards (the dub cuts out the electrocution, but still shows Yusaku being thrown backwards, and he states that he was punished). On the screen before him, pulsing particles forming an eye observed him. A drone later brought him food, and he devoured it hungrily. He states that they could only eat, sleep, and Duel, and this went on every day. Everything was based on Dueling; if they didn't win, they didn't get to eat. After another loss, the drone only brought him milk. When could they leave, how long could they live? They just kept Dueling, worried because they knew nothing (in the dub, Playmaker also noted that he wondered why life hand dealt him this hand). Blue Angel gasps that it's horrible, and she asks who would do that to children, while in Café Nom, Kolter clenches his fists on the table in fury (in the dub, she states that it must have been a nightmare, and Playmaker replies that it was worse, since a nightmare ends). Playmaker states that no-one told them where they were or how long they'd been held captive. Zaizen states that after half a year, the Incident suddenly ended. Yusaku remembers losing another Duel, electrocuted and flung into the wall. Then a screen appeared before him with the eye on it, and a voice told him that he could go home now and that he'd given it his all (in the dub, it noted that he never gave up). The eye's pupil divided into purple light, and then the wall in front of Yusaku slid open, exposing him to the light. Men in blue and orange rushed in, and Zaizen states that they were rescued as the men are shown carrying Yusaku and the other five children through the trees. Playmaker frowns as Zaizen states that no-one knows the culprit, and the Incident was covered up so that the media wouldn't make a fuss. Blue Angel steps forwards, asking if Zaizen knows Playmaker's identity (in the dub, she asks about all of them instead of Playmaker). Ai begins to protest, but Ghost Gal replies that they don't because the country's S Rank program protects the victims' identities. Playmaker's identity isn't stored here. Ai wipes his forehead in relief, commenting that that was close.

Playmaker asks Zaizen if he really thinks that they were saved, much to Zaizen's surprise, and Playmaker snaps that they weren't saved (in the dub, he specifies that he wasn't saved). Blue Angel draw her breath in as Playmaker states that he has the right to know what the Incident's mission was for three reasons; first, it tore apart his life and he'll learn the truth and reconnect his life (in the dub, he wants to know why he had to suffer); second, the Incident deeply hurt them and their families, and some of them (as he speaks, Kolter's brother is shown sitting huddled in a corner) have still yet to recover from the shock, so he'll learn the truth for them and their families; and third, during those hellish days when his heart was about to break... He remembers the voice he heard talking to him, reminding him to be strong and to remember to think of three things; three reasons to live, three things to go home, three things to defeat the enemy (in the dub, as before, the voice is more in-line with Yusaku's philosophy; telling him that there are three reasons that he should get up: if he doesn't get up now, he won't later; he won't win if he doesn't believe that he can; just because it's tough now doesn't mean it will always be). By thinking, he could still live. Yusaku asked the voice where or who he was, and the voice said that he was beside them (in the dub, the voice just told him that he only needed three reasons). Yusaku asked if the voice was kidnapped too, but the voice just told him that he could go home soon. Yusaku asked if he could leave, and the voice told him not to lose hope; to think of three things (in the dub, there was no mention that Yusaku could leave). Playmaker explains that whoever kept encouraging him wasn't among those who were rescued, and so if he's still captured, he has to rescue him. Blue Angel watches as Playmaker declares that the Incident didn't end ten years ago for him. He states that he doesn't have what Zaizen talked about; since the Incident ended, he doesn't have a future to talk about with his friends or any irreplaceable moments. Ai twiddles his fingers, musing that this is why he isn't Playmaker's friend (this is cut from the dub).

Yusaku suffers in his sleep, tormented by nightmares.

Playmaker states that after the Incident he received treatment for years to heal the wounds in his heart, and as he remembers being counselled by his kindergarten teacher and learning with the other children (in the dub, he states that they treated him no differently), he admits that he tried to forget about the Incident. But no matter how much time passed, he couldn't forget. He remembers a nightmare where the words of the screen telling him that he'd lost were dripping and the voice had become monstrous, and he was electrocuted again, waking in a cold sweat. As he sees himself falling into darkness, he states that those horrible memories were burned into his eyes, feasting on his heart; it became his flesh and blood that he couldn't dig out (in the dub, he likens it to falling into a bottomless chasm of despair). As he remembers taking his Deck out of his desk drawer, he states that when he realized that, he decided to face his own destiny. He tells Zaizen that it's fine to think revenge is worthless, but there are things that Playmaker is destined to do to move forward. He investigated the Incident and found something; the Lost Incident went by another name - The Hanoi Project.

Blue Angel asks if the Knights of Hanoi have something to do with the Lost Incident, and Playmaker explains that it's why he's hunting down the Hanoi. Ai muses on the name "Hanoi Project" (in the dub, he calls it circumstantial, but logical), and Zaizen comments that he sees, but that this is the extent of Playmaker's knowledge. Playmaker asks what he means, and Zaizen reveals that the name of the mastermind behind the Hanoi Project is in this data, much to Playmaker, Blue Angel, and Ai's collective shock. Kolter gets up and gasps, "mastermind"? and Playmaker angrily asks who it is, but Zaizen does not answer him.

Featured Duel: Playmaker vs. Akira Zaizen

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Playmaker has 2000 LP and controls "Firewall Dragon" (1500/↑←↓→) in the Extra Monster Zone. Zaizen has 3900 LP and controls "Tindangle Hound" (2500/0) and 1 Set monster ("Tindangle Angel" (500/1800)), as well as "Lemoine Point" and 1 Set card in his Spell & Trap Zone.

Turn 4: Playmaker
The effect of "Tindangle Hound" decreases the ATK of each monster Playmaker controls by 1000 for each monster linked to it ("Firewall Dragon": 2500 → 1500 ATK). As Playmaker controls a Link-4 or higher Link Monster, he activates the Spell "Linkage Hole", destroying monsters Zaizen controls up to the number of Link-3 or higher Link Monsters Playmaker controls. Playmaker controls the Link-4 "Firewall Dragon" and the Link-3 "Decode Talker", so he destroys "Tindangle Hound" and the face-down "Tindangle Angel" ("Firewall Dragon": 1500 → 2500 ATK, "Decode Talker": 1800 → 2800 ATK). As Zaizen controls no monsters, "Lemoine Point" is destroyed by its own effect. "Decode Talker" attacks Zaizen directly (Zaizen: 3900 → 1100 LP). As Zaizen took battle damage from Playmaker's attacking monster while Zaizen has three or more "Tindangle" monsters with different names in his GY, Zaizen activates his face-down Trap "Tindangle Delaunay", destroying the attacking monster, then Special Summoning "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" from his Extra Deck. He destroys "Decode Talker", then Special Summons "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" (0/↙↑↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. The effect of "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" increases its ATK by 1500 for each "Tindangle Hound" and "Tindangle Angel" in his GY ("Tindangle Acute Cerberus": 0 → 3000 ATK). Playmaker Sets a card.

Turn 5: Zaizen
"Tindangle Acute Cerberus" attacks "Firewall Dragon". Playmaker activates his face-down Trap "Doppler Phase Coating", targeting a Cyberse monster he controls and equipping "Doppler Phase Coating" to it. The effect of "Doppler Phase Coating" prevents the equipped "Firewall Dragon" from being destroyed by battle once per turn. The attack continues and "Firewall Dragon" is not destroyed (Playmaker: 2000 → 1500 LP). At the end of the Battle Phase, as "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" declared an attack, Zaizen activates its effect, Special Summoning a "Tindangle Token". He Special Summons it (0/0) in Defense Position to a zone "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" points to. The effect of "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" increases its ATK by 500 for each "Tindangle" monster it points to ("Tindangle Acute Cerberus": 3000 → 3500 ATK). Zaizen Sets two cards.

Turn 6: Playmaker
Zaizen activates his face-down Trap "Gergonne's End", targeting a "Tindangle" Link Monster he controls and equipping "Gergonne's End" to it. He targets "Tindangle Acute Cerberus". The effect of "Gergonne's End" prevents the equipped "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" from being destroyed by battle or card effects, also Playmaker cannot target it with card effects. Playmaker activates the Spell "Alert Lancer", allowing a Cyberse monster to inflict piercing battle damage to Zaizen if it attacks a Defense Position monster. "Firewall Dragon" attacks a "Tindangle Token". Zaizen activates his face-down Continuous Trap "Morley's Shield". During damage calculation, as a "Tindangle" monster in Zaizen's Main Monster Zone is battling, he activates the effect of "Morley's Shield", preventing him from taking any battle damage from that battle. The attack continues and the "Tindangle Token" is destroyed ("Tindangle Acute Cerberus": 3500 → 3000 ATK).

Turn 7: Zaizen
Zaizen draws and subsequently activates the Continuous Spell "Nagel's Protection". The effect of "Nagel's Protection" prevents "Tindangle" monsters in Zaizen's Main Monster Zones from being destroyed by battle or Playmaker's card effects. "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" attacks "Firewall Dragon". If Zaizen's "Tindangle" monster inflicts battle damage to Playmaker, the effect of "Nagel's Protection" doubles the damage once per turn. The attack continues and "Firewall Dragon" is not destroyed (Playmaker: 1500 → 500 LP). At the end of the Battle Phase, as "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" declared an attack, Zaizen activates its effect, Special Summoning a "Tindangle Token". He Special Summons it (0/0) in Defense Position to the zone the bottom-right Link Arrow of "Tindangle Acute Cerberus" points to ("Tindangle Acute Cerberus": 3000 → 3500 ATK).

Turn 8: Playmaker
Playmaker Sets a card.

Duel continues in the next episode.

Featured cards

The following cards appeared in this episode. Cards in italics debuted here.

Differences in adaptions

  • The violence of the Hanoi Project is toned down in the dub. Yusaku is not shown being electrocuted for losing a Duel, merely stating that he was punished for losing. However, the mentions of starvation as punishment are still retained, as is Yusaku's resultant trauma.
