"Captured Ignis" is the seventy-fourth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on October 24, 2018.

Earth rescued Aqua, who was imprisoned by someone, and learned the truth about the Cyberse World's destruction from her. However, Gore, who was ordered to capture the Ignises, then appears and attacks the two of them. In order to protect Aqua, Earth begins a Duel against Gore!

Featured Duel: Earth vs. Gore

The Duel is conducted as a Speed Duel.

Turn 1: Gore
Gore Normal Sets a monster.

Turn 2: Earth
Earth activates the Spell "Cost Down", discarding a card, then for the rest of this turn, the Levels of all monsters in Earth's hand are reduced by 2, even after they are Summoned. He discards "G Golem Rock Hammer", then decreases the Levels of all monsters in his hand by 2 ("Rock Hammer": Level 6 → 4). Earth Normal Summons the now Level 4 "Rock Hammer" (1800/2400). Earth activates the effect of "Rock Hammer", Tributing it to Special Summon three "G Golem Tokens" (0/0) in Defense Position. Earth sets two "G Golem Tokens" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "G Golem Stubborn Menhir" (1500/↑↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. Earth sets "Stubborn Menhir" and a "G Golem Token" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "G Golem Crystal Heart" (0/←↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. Earth activates the effect of "Crystal Heart", targeting an EARTH Link Monster in his GY and Special Summoning it to his field so it is co-linked to "Crystal Heart", then placing a G Golem Counter on "Crystal Heart". He targets and Special Summons "Stubborn Menhir" (1500/↑↓) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Crystal Heart" points to ("Crystal Heart": 0 → 1 G Golem Counter). The effect of "Crystal Heart" increases the ATK of all EARTH monsters it points to by 600 for each G Golem Counter on it ("Stubborn Menhir": 1500 → 2100 ATK). Earth activates the effect of "Stubborn Menhir", targeting an EARTH monster in his GY that can be Normal Summoned/Set and Special Summoning it, but its effects are negated. He targets and Special Summons "Rock Hammer" (1800/2400). Earth sets "Rock Hammer" and the Link-2 "Stubborn Menhir" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "G Golem Invalid Dolmen" (2800 → 3400/←↑→) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Crystal Heart" points to. Earth sets a card. "Invalid Dolmen" attacks Gore's face-down monster. Before damage calculation, the face-down "Dinowrestler Capaptera" (1600/0) flips face-up. If "Invalid Dolmen" attacks a Defense Position monster, its effect allows it to inflict piercing battle damage. During damage calculation, as Gore's "Dinowrestler" monster is battling Earth's monster with an equal or higher ATK, Gore activates the effect of "Dinowrestler Martial Ampelo", sending it from his hand to the GY to prevent that monster he controls from being destroyed by that battle, also any battle damage Gore takes from that battle is halved. The attack continues and "Capaptera" is not destroyed (Gore: 4000 → 2300 LP).

Turn 3: Gore
As Earth controls more monsters than Gore does, Gore activates the effect of "Capaptera", targeting a monster Earth controls and sending it to the GY. Gore targets "Invalid Dolmen". The effect of "Invalid Dolmen" makes co-linked monsters Earth controls become unaffected by the effects of monsters Gore controls. As Earth controls more monsters than Gore does, Gore Special Summons "Dinowrestler Pankratops" (2600/???) from his hand by its own effect. As Gore controls a "Dinowrestler" monster, he Normal Summons "Dinowrestler Eskrimamenchi" (2300/0) without Tributing by its own effect. Gore sets "Capaptera", "Eskrimamenchi", and "Pankratops" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" (3000/↙↓↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Capaptera" was sent to the GY as Link Material for the Link Summon of a "Dinowrestler" monster, Gore activates its effect, increasing the ATK of the Link Monster that used it as material by 1000 until the end of this turn ("King T Wrextle": 3000 → 4000 ATK). The effect of "Invalid Dolmen" forces Gore's monsters to attack it if able. "King T Wrextle" attacks "Invalid Dolmen". If "King T Wrextle" battles, its effect prevents Earth from activating Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. The attack continues and "Invalid Dolmen" is destroyed (Earth: 4000 → 3400 LP). As "Invalid Dolmen" on the field was destroyed, Earth activates its effect, negating the effects of all face-up cards Gore controls. The effects of "King T Wrextle" are negated. During the Battle Phase, Earth activates his face-down Trap Card "Gravity Vision", targeting an EARTH Link Monster in his GY that was destroyed by battle this turn and a face-up monster Gore controls and Special Summoning a "G Golem Token", then it gains DEF equal to the Link Rating of the targeted monster in the GY times 800. While that "G Golem Token" is in the Monster Zone, the targeted opponent's monster loses ATK equal to the DEF of "G Golem Token", also it cannot attack, except to attack "G Golem Token". He targets the Link-3 "Invalid Dolmen" and "King T Wrextle", then Special Summons a "G Golem Token" (0/0 → 2400) in Defense Position ("King T Wrextle": 4000 → 1600 ATK). During Gore's turn, as Earth Special Summoned a monster while "Eskrimamenchi" is in Gore's GY, Gore activates its effect, adding it to his hand, then targeting a Level 4 or lower "Dinowrestler" monster in his GY and Special Summoning it. He adds "Eskrimamenchi" from his GY to his hand, then targets and Special Summons the Level 3 "Capaptera" (1600/0). Gore activates the Quick-Play Spell Card "Tyrant Dino Fusion", Fusion Summoning a "Dinowrestler" Fusion Monster from his Extra Deck using monsters he controls as Fusion Material, then the first time that face-up monster on the field would be destroyed by battle or card effect, it is not destroyed. He fuses "King T Wrextle" and "Capaptera" to Fusion Summon "Dinowrestler Chimera T Wrextle" (3500/???) to the Extra Monster Zone.

Duel continues in the next episode.
