The 2012 New Zealanders National Championship was a World Championship Qualifier for the 2012 World Championship. The tournament determined the 2012 national champion of New Zealand. It took place in Ellerslie Events Centre in Auckland on June 3, 2012 and was won by Chris Dalton

Main event

The main event consisted of eight rounds of Swiss, after which eight of the highest scoring players advanced to the top cut.

In the quarter finals, Timmy Chiew defeated Newsun Zeng, Sezan Hossain defeated Aaron Dennis, Hyunwoo Jun defeated Carne de Vreede and Chris Dalton defeated Gavin Wu.

In the semi finals, Timmy Chiew defeated Sezan Hossain and Chris Dalton defeated Hyunwoo Jun.

In the final, Chris Dalton defeated Timmy Chiew.
