"Assault Blackwing", known as "Assault Black Feather" (アサルト BFブラックフェザー Asaruto Burakku Fezā) in the Japanese version, is an archetype of DARK Winged Beast monsters, as well as a sub-archetype of the "Blackwing" archetype. They are used by Crow Hogan in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime. All members of this sub-archetype are Synchro Monsters, except for the Effect Monster "Assault Blackwing - Kunai the Drizzle".

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Like the original "Blackwing" monsters, the "Assault Blackwing" monsters resemble either humanoid birds or humanoids in bird-like outfits. Additionally, the "Assault Blackwing" monsters have a half-mechanical appearance to them.

Etymology[edit]

The "Assault Blackwing" monsters are named after legendary Japanese weapons and given a title relating to rain.

Assault Blackwing Origin
Chidori the Rain Sprinkling Chidori (sword of Tachibana Dōsetsu)
Kunai the Drizzle Kunai
Kusanagi the Gathering Storm Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi
Onimaru the Divine Thunder Onimaru
Raikiri the Rain Shower Chidori (sword of Tachibana Dōsetsu)
Sayo the Rain Hider Sayo Samonji
Sohaya the Rain Storm Sohaya (sword of Sakanoue no Tamuramaro)

Playing style[edit]

"Assault Blackwing" monsters tend to treat themselves as Tuner monsters if they are Special Summoned by using at least 1 "Blackwing" monster (either as a Tribute for the Main Deck members, or as a Synchro Material for the Synchro members), allowing their user to quickly gather up the total Levels needed to Summon powerful Synchro Monsters.
