Video game debutYu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation
Rhodes, Atticus

Atticus Rhodes is a Duelist Construct of Atticus Rhodes from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX series in the Virtual Dueling System. He is also the opponent that the player faced in Stage 7-3 of the GX Campaign mode in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation. The player has to defeat him in a Duel in order to unlock the next stage and progress Campaign mode.

Appearance[edit]

As a Duelist Construct, his appearance is based on Atticus Rhodes, and the outfit and mask is what he wore when he was under the influence of Nightshroud in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime series. Though this character's image only shows the top half of Atticus' body, he does have a necklace around his neck and it is based on one half of the Shadow Charm Pendant which is one of the eight Shadow Charms. The Shadow Charm Pendant was first seen during the Rise of the Sacred Beasts arc when Nightshroud was a member of the Shadow Riders, and he was also the owner of the other half pendant. Nightshroud was a dark entity in the shape of a mask who possessed Atticus' mind, and he uses his body to protect the pendant.

Etymology[edit]

His given name "Atticus" means "Athenian" or "of Attica" in Latin. His given name "Atticus" can also comes from Titus Pomponius Atticus, a Roman orator and noble who was famous for his impartiality in political issues. His surname "Rhodes" is derived from the Old English rod, meaning "cleared land", or from the many locations named after that word. His surname "Rhodes" could also be a reference to Rhodes Scholarship.

In the French, his given name is "Isidore", and it is derived from the Greek name Ἰσίδωρος (Isídōros, a compound of Ἶσις - Ísis, and δῶρον - dōron) which means "gift of Isis". Isis is a goddess from the polytheistic pantheon of Egypt.

Rewards[edit]

There are a total of six rewards that the player can earn and received after defeating the Duel Construct in a Duel. The first two rewards are cards that come from the Duel Construct's Deck and the third reward is a recipe for their Deck. Then the fourth, fifth and sixth rewards repeated the same process of the three earlier rewards, but in a harder difficulty with a different Deck. In addition, the sixth reward will allow the player to have the Duel Construct's avatar and the ability to Duel them anytime between the two difficulty.
