Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's[edit]

Notes[edit]

  • In the anime, "Black Rose Dragon" can destroy all cards on the field whenever it was Special Summoned, not only Synchro Summoned, and can reduce the ATK of an opposing monster the target is already in Attack Mode. While its effect is different in the anime, its text in the Japanese anime remains the same as the text on the OCG Japanese card. From episode 40 onward, however, it appears to use the effects of its real-life counterpart.
  • When Summoning "Black Rose Dragon" Akiza says,"Chilling flames engulf the entire world. Pitch-dark flower, set into bloom! Synchro Summon! Appear now, Black Rose Dragon!".
  • In Japanese, its destruction effect name is Black Rose Gale, its attack reduction effect name is Rose Restriction and its attack name is "Black Rose Flare". Its attack name, while equipped with "Thorn of Malice", is Hate Rose Whip. In the dub, its attack reduction effect's name is Black Binding Bloom. When equipped with Thorn of Malice, the effect name is Black Rose Gale.
  • This card appears to represent Akiza as both have naturally beautiful appearances, but also have powerful and dangerous abilities. Its first effect represents how Akiza's abilities initially hurt other people around her while its second effect represents Akiza's ability to hurt people she Duels and leave them almost critically hurt.

Anime appearances[edit]

Fortune Cup[edit]

  • In episode 14, the Black Rose uses this card to attack the Daimon Area and the people that were there.
    • In this episode, this monster was silhouetted off with only its eyes and mouth being visible.
  • In episode 16, Akiza Izinski uses this card during her Ground Duel against Gill Randsborg. She Synchro Summons this monster by tuning "Wall of Ivy" with "Copy Plant" (who was Level 5 due to it copying the Level of "Masked Knight LV5"). Akiza then activates this card's first effect to destroy all cards on the field. On the final turn of the Duel, Akiza revives this card via the last effect of "Black Garden". Randsborg wonders why she would do that as that means "Masked Knight LV7" regains the ATK it lost due to "Black Garden". Akiza then activates this card's second effect to banish "Wall of Ivy" from her Graveyard and reduce the ATK of "Masked Knight LV7" until the End Phase. This card then attacks and destroys "Masked Knight LV7", winning Akiza the Duel.
    • This card also appears in a flashback Yusei has when realizes that Akiza and this card are the Black Rose and the unknown monster he saw in the Daimon area.
  • In episode 22, Akiza uses this card during her Ground Duel against Commander Koda. The latter declares this card's name for the effect of "Mind Monster", inflicting damage to Akiza equal to half of this card's original ATK since it was in Akiza's Extra Deck. On the last turn of the Duel, Akiza Synchro Summons this card by tuning her two Rose Tokens with her "Twilight Rose Knight". She then activates this card's last effect to banish "Phoenixian Seed" from her Graveyard and reduce the ATK of "Mad Profiler" to 0 until the End Phase. This activates the effect of "Lightlow Protection", destroying this card. Akiza then activates "Rose Curse" to inflict damage to Koda equal to the difference between the current ATK of "Mad Profiler" and its previous ATK, winning her the Duel.
  • In episode 23, this card appears in a series of flashbacks Yusei has when he notes if Akiza's one other emotion is hidden among rejection and anger, then the marks are clearly binding the Signers together.
    • This card is also shown on the Sphere monitor while it was depicting the events that occurred during the two semi-final duels.
  • In episode 24, Akiza uses this card during her Ground Duel against Yusei Fudo. She Synchro Summons this card by tuning "Dark Verger" with "Copy Plant" (who was Level 5 due to it copying the Level of "Junk Warrior"). Akiza then activates this card's second effect to banish "Wall of Ivy" from her Graveyard and reduce the ATK of "Junk Warrior" to 0 until the End Phase. This card then attacks "Junk Warrior", but Yusei banishes "Shield Warrior" from his Graveyard to prevent "Junk Warrior" from being destroyed by battle this turn. Yusei then activates "Spirit Force" to reduce the Battle Damage he takes to 0. On Akiza's End Phase, this card's second effect expires. Later "Stardust Dragon" attacks and destroys this card. On Akiza's next turn, she activates "Wicked Rebirth" to revive this card. She then activates this card's first effect to destroy all cards on the field, but Yusei Tributes "Stardust Dragon" to negate this card's effect and destroy it. On Akiza's End Phase, "Stardust Dragon" revives itself via its second effect and this card is revived via the last effect of "Wicked Rebirth". Akiza then activates "Overdoom Line" to increase the ATK of all monsters on her side of the field by 1000. After Yusei equips "Stardust Dragon" with "Prevention Star" and targets "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" for its effect, Akiza activates "Synchro Back" to return this card to her Extra Deck. On Akiza's next Standby Phase, the second effect of "Synchro Back" Special Summons this card. Akiza then activates this card's first effect to destroy all cards on the field, but Yusei Tributes "Stardust Dragon" to negate this card's effect and destroy it.

Later "Reptile Gorgon" (who was equipped with "Attack Pheromones" and "Molting Escape") attacks this card. Due to the first effect of "Molting Escape", "Reptile Gorgon" is not destroyed, but Misty still takes Battle Damage. "Molting Escape" then increases the ATK of "Reptile Gorgon" by 100 at the end of the Damage Step. The effect of "Reptile Gorgon" then activates, reducing this card's ATK to 0 and preventing Akiza from changing this card's Battle Position. Misty then gains 300 Life Points as per the first effect of "Savage Colosseum". In the next episode, this card attacks "Reptile Gorgon" due to the second effect of "Savage Colosseum". In the next episode, Akiza activates this card's second effect to switch "Shield Warrior" to Attack Position and reduce its ATK to 0 by banishing one "Evil Thorn" from her Graveyard. This card then attacks "Shield Warrior", but Yusei activates "Realize Defense" to switch "Shield Warrior" to Defense Position. Due to the fourth effect of "Thorn of Malice", "Shield Warrior" is not destroyed, but this card inflicts piercing damage to Yusei. The third effect of "Thorn of Malice" then decreases the ATK and DEF of "Shield Warrior" by 600. On Akiza's End Phase, this card's second effect expires. Yusei then activates "Half Shut" to halve this card's ATK until the End Phase and grant it immunity to destruction by battle this turn. "Stardust Dragon" then attacks this card. Due to "Half Shut", this card is not destroyed, but Akiza still takes Damage. On Yusei's End Phase, the effect of "Half Shut" expires. This card then attacks "Stardust Dragon". Due to "Thorn of Malice", "Stardust Dragon" is not destroyed, but Yusei still takes Battle Damage and "Stardust Dragon" loses 600 ATK and DEF after damage calculation. Damage is calculated, but Akiza sends "Hedge Guard" from her to the Graveyard to prevent this card from being destroyed. After that resolves, "Hedge Guard" halves this card's ATK until the End Phase. Yusei activates "Synchro Ring" to double the ATK of "Stardust Dragon" and allow it to attack again. "Stardust Dragon" then attacks and destroys this card, winning Yusei the Duel.
