Q&A Rulings
- Q: There are 2 copies of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" face-up in my Monster Zone. During my Standby Phase, how do their effects that switch control activate and resolve?
- A: The effect of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" that switches control of it can be activated once per turn during your Standby Phase. In this scenario, if you have 2 copies of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" on your field, the effect of each one can be activated and resolved separately. (They cannot be activated on the same Chain.)[1]
- Q: When the effect of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" that destroys a Set Spell/Trap Card on the field is applied, which player chooses the card that is destroyed?
- A: The effect of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" that destroys a Set Spell/Trap Card on the field is activated by its new controller whenever its control changes. If your "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" switches control to your opponent and your opponent activates the effect, it is still the owner of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" that chooses which Set card in their own Spell & Trap Zone to destroy. (The controller does not destroy a card.)[2]
- Q: I activate "Monster Reborn" and Special Summon an "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" from my opponent's GY. In this situation, can I activate the effect of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" that destroys a Set Spell/Trap Card on the field?
- A: In this scenario, since control of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" did not change while it was face-up in the Monster Zone, the effect that destroys a Set Spell/Trap Card on the field cannot be activated.[3]
- Q: If "Daigusto Sphreez" (ATK 2000) and "Blackwing Armor Master" (ATK 2500) battle, which player takes battle damage?
- A: Battle damage is determined by considering different types of effects in the following order.
- 01: Inflicts double battle damage.
- 02: Battle damage is taken by both players.
- 03: Battle damage you take is also inflicted to your opponent / your opponent takes any battle damage you would take instead.
- 04: Battle damage is treated as effect damage.
- 05: The player gains LP instead of taking battle damage.
- 06: Battle damage becomes 0.
- 07: Battle damage is halved.
- 08: Battle damage is doubled.
- 09: Battle damage becomes X (X being a predetermined value).
- 10: You do not take battle damage if it is more or less than X.
- Furthermore, "Daigusto Sphreez" is a "03" effect, and "Blackwing Armor Master" is a "06" effect. As a result, neither player takes any battle damage. "Daigusto Sphreez" cannot be destroyed by battle due to its own effect. Also, the effect of "Blackwing Armor Master" that places a Wedge Counter on a monster can be activated at the end of the Damage Step.
- Furthermore, the following monsters with the effect "you take no battle damage from attacks involving this card" are "06" effects.
- "Kikinagashi Fucho"
- "Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir"
- "Go! - D/D/D Divine Zero King Rage"
- "Superheavy Samurai Scarecrow"
- "D/D/D Supersight King Zero Maxwell"
