OCG Rulings

  • This card's effect is an Ignition Effect that activates in the hand. (It does not target.)[1]
  • Discarding another card in your hand is the cost to activate this effect.[1]
  • Special Summoning this card from your hand and Special Summoning Fire Ant Ascator from your hand or Deck do not happen simultaneously.[1]
  • You must always apply the part of the effect that Special Summons this card, but you can choose not to apply the part of the effect that Special Summons a Fire Ant Ascator. (In that case, the last effect to resolve is Special Summoning this card from your hand.)[1]

Q&A Rulings

A: When your opponent activates the effect of "Ascator, Dawnwalker", you can chain the effect of "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring". In that case, "Ascator, Dawnwalker" remains in your opponent's hand, but your opponent still cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck other than Synchro Monsters during that turn.[2][3]
