TCG Rulings

  • You can Tribute a face-down Synchro Monster.[1]
  • If you activate “Assault Mode Activate” but are unable to resolve its effect because of a lack of an appropriate “/Assault Mode” monster, your opponent can look through your Deck to confirm, unless you can show 3 copies of the appropriate “/Assault Mode” monster in your Graveyard + field + removed zone [sic].[1]

OCG Rulings

  • Tributing 1 Synchro Monster in your Monster Zone is an activation cost. (You can also Tribute a face-down Defense Position Synchro Monster.)[2]
A: You can activate "Assault Mode Activate" by Tributing a Synchro Monster your opponent controls that was affected by the effect of "Soul Exchange".[3]
A: Since the effect of "Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend" is not applied while it is in face-down Defense Position, it is not treated as "Red Dragon Archfiend". Therefore, you cannot activate "Assault Mode Activate" by Tributing a face-down Defense Position "Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend".[4]
A: Even in this case, the effect of "Assault Mode Activate" is applied as usual. (Since "Stardust Dragon" was Tributed, "Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode" is Special Summoned.)[5]
