Card Rulings:Assault Mode Activate
TCG Rulings
- Tributing a Synchro Monster is a cost. You can Tribute your opponent’s Synchro Monster using “Soul Exchange”.[1]
- You can Tribute a face-down Synchro Monster.[1]
- You cannot activate “Assault Mode Activate” if you have no “/Assault Mode” monsters in your Deck.[1]
- If you activate “Assault Mode Activate” but are unable to resolve its effect because of a lack of an appropriate “/Assault Mode” monster, your opponent can look through your Deck to confirm, unless you can show 3 copies of the appropriate “/Assault Mode” monster in your Graveyard + field + removed zone [sic].[1]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Assault Mercenary: Returning the “Assault Mode Activate” to the Deck is a cost. This effect targets the Spell or Trap Card you wish to destroy.
- Assault Mercenary: If you return “Assault Mode Activate” from your hand to the Deck, you need to show it to your opponent.
- Night Wing Sorceress: If you activate “Assault Mode Activate” the turn it is Set, and a chain occurs that destroys “Night Wing Sorceress”, “Assault Mode Activate” still resolves.
OCG Rulings
- Tributing 1 Synchro Monster in your Monster Zone is an activation cost. (You can also Tribute a face-down Defense Position Synchro Monster.)[2]
- It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.[2]
- You cannot activate "Assault Mode Activate" if you do not have an appropriate "/Assault Mode" monster in your Deck. (You must Tribute a monster with an appropriate "/Assault Mode" monster in your Deck.)[2]
- Q: Can you activate "Assault Mode Activate" by Tributing an opponent's monster targeted by "Soul Exchange"?
- A: You can activate "Assault Mode Activate" by Tributing a Synchro Monster your opponent controls that was affected by the effect of "Soul Exchange".[3]
- Q: Can you activate "Assault Mode Activate" by Tributing a face-down Defense Position "Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend"?
- A: Since the effect of "Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend" is not applied while it is in face-down Defense Position, it is not treated as "Red Dragon Archfiend". Therefore, you cannot activate "Assault Mode Activate" by Tributing a face-down Defense Position "Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend".[4]
- Q: If you activate "Assault Mode Activate" by Tributing "Stardust Dragon", and "The Transmigration Prophecy" is activated in Chain, returning "Stardust Dragon" to the Extra Deck, how do you resolve the effect of "Assault Mode Activate"?
- A: Even in this case, the effect of "Assault Mode Activate" is applied as usual. (Since "Stardust Dragon" was Tributed, "Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode" is Special Summoned.)[5]
