OCG Rulings

  • "When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower monster in your GY; Special Summon it in Defense Position, but negate its effects, also banish it during the End Phase" This effect is a trigger effect. (This effect targets 1 Level 4 or lower monster in your Graveyard.)[1]
  • This effect special summons the target monster in face-up defence position. (The effects of the monster special summoned this way are negated and it is summoned with the effect of banishing it in the End Phase already applied.)[1]
  • When the summoned monster is banished in the End Phase, a chain is not created.[1]
  • "Once per turn: You can roll a six-sided die and the Levels of all face-up monsters you currently control become the result until the end of this turn." This effect is an ignition effect. (This effect does not target.) You roll the die when this effect resolves.[1]

Q&A Rulings

A: Since the effect of Astra Ghouls that changes monsters’ Levels based on the die roll also applies to Astra Ghouls itself, you can activate the effect even if you have Xyz and Link Monsters on your field. However, since Xyz and Link Monsters do not have Levels, the effect of Astra Ghouls does not apply to your Vampire Sucker or Dhampir Vampire Sheridan in this scenario, and only Astra Ghouls’ Level changes.[2]
A: In this scenario, if you apply the effect of Number 67: Paradicesmasher and treat the die roll result as 7, your face-up monsters will become Level 7 by the effect of Astra Ghouls.[3]
