Q&A Rulings
- Q: During my Main Phase 2, I activate the effect of "Herculean Power" and Special Summon a "Chemicritter Hydron Hawk" from my hand. If I then Normal Summon that "Chemicritter Hydron Hawk" on the field so that it becomes an Effect Monster, can I Link Summon "Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo" using "Chemicritter Hydron Hawk" as material?
- A: Link Summoning "Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo" requires a monster that was Normal Summoned/Set to be used as material. In this scenario, if a Special Summoned Gemini monster is Normal Summoned to become an Effect Monster, it is also treated as a Normal Summoned monster, so it can be used as material to Link Summon "Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo". However, if the Special Summoned Gemini monster is treated as an Effect Monster by the effect of "Supervise", it does not become a Normal Summoned monster, so it cannot be used for the Link Summon.[1]
- Q: During my Main Phase 2, I activate "Mind Control" and take control of my opponent's "Zombino" that they Normal Summoned. In this situation, can I Link Summon "Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo" using that "Zombino" as material?
- A: "Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo" require a face-up Normal Summoned/Set monster as Link Material. In this scenario, even if your opponent was the one that Normal Summoned a monster, but you gained control of it, you can use it as material for the Link Summon.[2]
