Card Rulings:Evil HERO Infernal Gainer
OCG Rulings
- The effect that allows 1 Fiend monster to make a second attack during each Battle Phase is an Ignition Effect. (Banishing "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer" is a cost to activate this effect. It targets 1 face-up Fiend monster in your Monster Zone.)[1]
- This effect remains applied as long as the affected monster remains face-up in the Monster Zone. (It remains applied even if the banished "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer" is Special Summoned during your 2nd Standby Phase after activation.)[1]
- The effect that Special Summons this card is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target.)[1]
- This effect activates once during your 2nd Standby Phase after "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer" was banished to activate the effect that allows 1 Fiend monster to make a second attack during each Battle Phase.[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: I activate the effect of "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer" by banishing it, targeting a face-up "Evil HERO Malicious Edge" in my Monster Zone. If "Divine Wrath" is activated and the activation of the effect is negated, what happens after that?
- A: If the activation of "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer"'s effect is negated by "Divine Wrath", the effect is not applied so the targeted monster ("Evil HERO Malicious Edge" in this case) cannot attack twice during each Battle Phase. Even in that case, "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer" was still banished to activate its own effect, so during the second Standby Phase afterward, the effect that Special Summons it will activate.[2][3]
- Q: Can you activate "Lineage of Destruction" by targeting a monster that can already make a second attack by the effect of "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer" or "Cyber Twin Dragon"?
- A: You cannot activate "Lineage of Destruction" by targeting a "Cyber Twin Dragon" that can already make a second attack by its own effect, or a monster that can already make a second attack by the effect of "Evil HERO Infernal Gainer" etc.[4]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[5] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - The Fiend-Type monster selected for “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer's” effect can attack twice during the Battle Phase as long as it remains face-up on the field.
- During your second Standby Phase after activating “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer's” effect, if you have no available Monster Card Zones when “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer's” effect tries to Special Summon it onto your side of the field, the “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer” will be sent to the Graveyard.
- After being removed from play by its own effect, if “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer” is removed from the Removed Zone (returned to the Graveyard, added to the Deck, etc.) its [sic] will not be Special Summoned during the second Standby Phase. Even if the “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer” is returned to the Removed Zone, it will still not be Special Summoned.
- If, during your second Standby Phase after activating “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer’s” effect, your opponent negates the effect that Special Summons “Evil Hero Infernal Gainer”, it will not be Special Summoned during a later Standby Phase.
