Card Rulings:Fox Fire
OCG Rulings
- The effect "During the End Phase, if this card was destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard this turn and was face-up at the start of the Damage Step: Special Summon this card from the Graveyard" is a Trigger Effect that is activated in the Graveyard. (It does not target.)[1]
- The effect "Special Summon this card from the Graveyard" is not an effect that is activated when "Fox Fire" is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard. If "Fox Fire" that was destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard that turn is in the Graveyard, during the End Phase its effect activates only once and makes a Chain Link.[1]
- The effect "Special Summon this card from the Graveyard" will also activate during the End Phase of a turn that a face-down Defense Position "Fox Fire" was destroyed by battle.[1]
- The effect "This face-up card cannot be Tributed for a Tribute Summon" is a Continuous Effect.[1]
TCG Rulings
Konami Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - In order to activate its effect, "Fox Fire" must be face-up when the attack that destroyed it was declared (like "Atomic Firefly"). If a face-down "Fox Fire" is attacked, its effect is not applied even though it is face-up when destroyed.
- While "Skill Drain" is active, you can Tribute "Fox Fire" for a Tribute Summon.
- If the opponent controls your face-up "Fox Fire", and it is destroyed as a result of battle, it will be Special Summoned to your (the owner's) side of the field during the End Phase.
