OCG Rulings

  • The effect "All monsters are changed to face-up Attack Position, also their battle positions cannot be changed. (Flip Effects are not activated.)" is a Continuous Effect.[2]
  • The effect "All monsters are changed to face-up Attack Position, also their battle positions cannot be changed." affects all monsters on both sides of the field, including "Gaap the Divine Soldier".[2]
  • The effect "Once per turn: You can reveal any number of Fiend-Type monsters in your hand; this card gains 300 ATK for each, until the End Phase." is an Ignition Effect. (It does not target.)[2]
  • At the time the effect "this card gains 300 ATK for each, until the End Phase." is activated, you reveal any number of Fiend-Type monsters in your hand (min. 1) as a cost.[2]
  • In "You can reveal any number of Fiend-Type monsters in your hand; this card gains 300 ATK for each, until the End Phase.", the text "until the End Phase" should read "until the end of the turn". (This is effective from July 10, 2014.)[2]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: Can monsters be Set while the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" is active?
A: Even if the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" is applying, monsters can be Set in face-down Defense Position. However, the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" will immediately be applied, so that the monster changes to face-up Attack Position. Furthermore, its Trigger Effect will not activate at this time.[3]
  • Q: While the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" is applying, if "Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent" is Special Summoned by "Burst Rebirth", will its effect activate?
A: While your opponent controls "Gaap the Divine Soldier", when "Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent" is Special Summoned in face-down Defense Position, such as by "Burst Rebirth", the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" immediately changes it to face-up Attack Position. However, since "Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent" was not changed from face-up Defense Position to face-up Attack Position, its effect that inflicts damage will not activate.[4]
  • Q: While the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" is applying, if "Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent" is Special Summoned by "Monster Reborn", will its effect activate?
A: While your opponent controls "Gaap the Divine Soldier", when "Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent" is Special Summoned in face-up Defense Position, such as by "Monster Reborn", the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" immediately changes it to face-up Attack Position, so the effect of "Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent" that inflicts damage will activate.[5]
  • Q: "Gaap the Divine Soldier" is face-up on my opponent's field. In this situation, if I Set a "Galaxy Serpent" from my hand, but it is immediately changed to face-up Attack Position by the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier", can my opponent activate "Trap Hole"?
A: "Trap Hole" can be activated when a monster with 1000 or more ATK is successfully Normal or Flip Summoned. In this situation, "Galaxy Serpent" was Normal Set and immediately changed to face-up Attack Position by the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier". "Galaxy Serpent" is not treated as being Normal or Flip Summoned at this time, so your opponent cannot activate "Trap Hole".[6]
