Card Rulings:Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner
Contents
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[1] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - Discarding 1 card is a cost to activate this effect.
- If you discard a Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monster to activate "Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner's" effect, you can Special Summon it.
- You cannot activate "Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner's" effect if you do not have any Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monsters in your Graveyard, even if you would discard one to activate the effect.
- If an effect is chained that removes "Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner" from the field, the targeted "Lightsworn" monster is still Special Summoned.
- See "Jain, Lightsworn Paladin" for additional rulings.
Lightsworn Monster Rulings
OCG Rulings
- The negating effect of "Alector, Sovereign of Birds" does not end during the End Phase. The effects of the targeted card remains negated during the entire turn.[11]
- Example: The effects of Spirit monsters, "Majestic Mech - Goryu", and "Jain, Lightsworn Paladin" will activate during the End Phase, but they will be negated and resolve without effect.
- If "Dimension Fortress Weapon" and "Macro Cosmos" are both active, the effects of "Jain, Lightsworn Paladin" and "Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress" still activate, but they resolve without effect.[12]
TCG Rulings
Konami Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Konami before the introduction of Problem-Solving Card Text. Since the introduction of the new text structure, individual card rulings for the TCG are no longer issued or actively maintained.[13] They have never been formally overturned as a whole and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules and do not contradict card text. |
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Dimension Fortress Weapon: In general, Lightsworn monsters can activate their effects while “Dimension Fortress Weapon” is on the field, but cards are not sent from the Deck to the Graveyard afterwards.
Upper Deck Entertainment Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been deemed unofficial by Konami.[14] They were previously considered official, but may or may not necessarily hold true nowadays. |
- If you do not have enough cards to send to the Graveyard remaining in your Deck when resolving the effect of a “Lightsworn” monster or “Judgment Dragon,” all cards remaining in your Deck are sent to the Graveyard. For example, if you control “Jain, Lightsworn Paladin” and its effect activates during your End Phase when you have only 1 card remaining in your Deck, that card will be sent to the Graveyard.[15]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Charge of the Light Brigade: If the last Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monster remaining in your Deck is sent to the Graveyard when you activate "Charge of the Light Brigade", when it resolves, briefly show your Deck to your opponent to verify that no Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monsters remain in your Deck.
- Jenis, Lightsworn Mender: "Jenis, Lightsworn Mender's" effect only activates once during the End Phase, even if cards were sent from your Deck to the Graveyard by the effects of multiple "Lightsworn" monsters.
- Jenis, Lightsworn Mender: If "Jenis, Lightsworn Mender" is Summoned after card(s) are sent from your Deck to the Graveyard by the effect of a "Lightsworn" Monster, "Jenis, Lightsworn Mender's" effect still activates in the End Phase.
Out of Date
- If the effect of a “Lightsworn” monster to send cards from the top of your Deck to your Graveyard during the End Phase is negated by the effect of "Light and Darkness Dragon," that “Lightsworn” monster’s effect activates again in the same End Phase.[15][Out of Date 1]
- If an effect chained to a “Lightsworn” monster’s (or “Judgment Dragon’s”) effect to send cards from your Deck to the Graveyard during the End Phase that removes that “Lightsworn” monster from the field, the “Lightsworn” monster’s effect does not resolve.[15][Out of Date 2]
Notes
Out of Date
- ↑ The latest errata of "Lightsworn" monsters and "Judgment Dragon" state that this effect will only activate once per turn, so it will not activate again in this case.
- ↑ The latest errata of "Lightsworn" monsters and "Judgment Dragon" state that this effect will resolve with effect even if the card leaves the field before it resolves.
