OCG Rulings

  • The text stating that this card cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, and must first be Special Summoned from your hand by banishing a LIGHT and DARK monster from your GY is not treated as a monster effect. (Banishing monsters from your GY and Special Summoning this monster by its own procedure do not happen simultaneously. Special Summoning this card this way does not start a Chain.)[1]
  • If this card is sent to the GY after being successfully Special Summoned from your hand by its own procedure, you can Special Summon it from the GY with the effect of "Monster Reborn".[1]
  • The effect of this card that adds a Thunder monster from your Deck to your hand is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target. Banishing 1 card from your GY is the cost to activate this effect.)[1]
  • The effect of this card that places 1 of your banished cards on the top or bottom of the Deck is a Trigger Effect. (It can be activated once per turn during your opponent's End Phase, and targets 1 of your banished cards.)[1]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: When activating the effect of "Thunder Dragonduo" during my opponent's End Phase that places a banished card on the top or bottom of my Deck, can I target a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Monster?
A: You can target a banished Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Monster with the effect of "Thunder Dragonduo" that is activated during your opponent's End Phase. (The targeted monster returns to the Extra Deck, not the Main Deck.)[2]
  • Q: I activate the first effect of "Thunder Dragonhawk", Special Summoning a "Thunder Dragonduo" from my GY after it was Special Summoned by its own procedure. After that effect resolves, does the effect of "Thunder Dragonduo" that increases its ATK by 300 activate?
A: The effect of "Thunder Dragonduo" that increases its ATK is a Trigger Effect that activates on the field. In this scenario, since "Thunder Dragonduo" was not on the field when the effect of "Thunder Dragonhawk" was activated from your hand, the effect of "Thunder Dragonduo" does not activate.[3][4]
