• As well as "Nikitama", this card is a reference to the Mitama, the souls of the dead.
  • In the Shinto religion, Aratama is the "fiery" aspect of the soul, and is appropriately dangerous unless controlled, at which point it becomes a source of courage.
• The icon for Thunder-Type monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Tag Force Special is based on this monster, even if it's Fiend-Type in TCG/OCG.
