Forum:"Generic" cards

There may be thousands of cards in this game, but there are some that are famous for their flexibility, which I consider to be "generic" cards. You know, the kinds of cards that almost any deck would be able to use, but which tell you nothing about the rest of the deck. However, when I try to come up with a mental list of "generic" cards, I always realize that there are actually quite a few of them. Here are all the "generic" cards I can come up with, and if you have any suggestions for additions to the list, feel free to post them below. IMPORTANT NOTE: Synchro monsters are not eligible for this list. These are the sorts of cards that would tell NOTHING about the composition of the rest of the deck, and Synchros guarantee the presence of tuners. Anyway, on to the list:

●Mirror Force ●Negate Attack -Book of Moon -Morphing Jar -Magic Jammer -Mystical Space Typhoon -Lightning Vortex -Sakuretsu Armor -Double Summon (maybe...) -Monster Reborn (off the Forbidden list ^^) -Swords of Revealing Light -Call of the Haunted -Bottomless Trap Hole

And a separate list for cards on the Forbidden list -Graceful Charity -Pot of Greed -Harpie's Feather Duster -Raigeki -Heavy Storm

Any commonly used cards you would add to this list? What do you consider to be "generic" cards? And slightly off topic, how do I do the list format on a forum post? ISmartMan (talkcontribs) 18:31, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Magic Cylinder. ^^ ( sometimes, if you don't run burn and your opponent thinks/knows you don't run burn. ) MachinaMan (talkcontribs) 23:44, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Instead of sakuretsu armor, I think dimensional prison is better.

The cards you are talking about are "splashable" or "staple" cards. I don't think you are going to have much luck making a complete list, due to the sheer number of them and difference of opinion about what qualifies as a staple. Perhaps you should try to make a list of most commonly used splashable cards? It might be quicker for you. Jon Kovacs (talkcontribs) 03:52, January 24, 2011 (UTC)
