What's worse than being a character with very little screentime? Being a fan of a Yu-Gi-Oh character with very little screentime.

Across Yugioh's history we've seen characters who simply don't have enough duels to showcase all their cards. When those cards get ported to real life (that is, ''if'' they do,) there just isn't enough support to make a functional real-life Deck, as compared to the various well-developed archetypes which never appear in the anime or manga, or main characters who've had entire seasons to play all sorts of different cards.

This will be the theme of this WDC - building a Deck around a character's archetype that never received much support. We'll look at non-ZEXAL archetypes since there's no telling if cards released years later could have unintended interactions with those archetypes.

This deck attempts to hamper the opponent using effects which change battle positions, and in turn effects which benefit from doing so, hence the reason why the Butterspy and Spider Archetypes have been meshed together. The main B.P changer is Spider Web, which is searched by Terraforming and to a lesser extent, Duality (reserved for Howling or Papillon usually).

Preferably, Howling Insect starts off everything, summoning Ground Spider to hinder the opponents, calling on Moonlit Papillon to get out a Butterspy (Morpho usually, as normal summoning Swallowtail is just fine). With the Web on the field, or Ground Spider, other monsters can be used.

Photon Papilloperative is able to subdue most monsters with its ATK dampening effect - given that the monster selected is in ATK position (Morpho Butterspy does this as well...could work decently with Ground Spider). Furthermore, Spyder Spider is able to capitalize on these weakened monsters, giving us a free monster (preferably Howling Insect or Moonlit Papillon to begin searching again).

Since most of these monsters are both offensively and defensively lacking, protection, in the form of B.P manipulation is necessary. No Entry!! fills in as a substitute for Web, and allows Morpho to weaken any of the opponent's monsters (some sort of threatening one perhaps). Additionally, fitting in with the Butterspy theme, the deck includes Butterflyoke, which allows both Papilloperative and Morpho to function (and multiple times too, if necessary). There's also Enemy Controller, which, apart from changing B.P, can work with Moonlit Papillon to trigger its effect.

If a problematic monster appears, the best route lies with Underground Arachnid, her equip effect dealing with the problem fairly easily. Alternatively, Photon Alexandra Queen is also an option, if there is too large a situation. For extra protection, there's Forbidden Chalice for effects and Dark Bribe for pesky Spells or Traps. So before I decided I was going to enter this contest I wanted to do something with Ninjas, and well after looking at the Spiders again it was clear there was a connection between them. That connection being Ninjitsu Art of Transformation. since Transformation can summon just about anything from the main deck barring Summoner Monk, the rest of the Ninjas, and Relinquished Spider.

Transformation is searchable by Hanzo, while Hanzo is searchable by Reinforcement of the Army, and with 3 Dualitys (Dualities?) its pretty easy to get to either of them. With those cards its easy to thin the deck to reach important cards, since Hanzo can also search for any of the other Ninjas when special summoned. Add Summoner Monk to the mix and there's some serious deck thinning going on, and that's just half the deck.

While the Ninja part of the deck offers deck thinning, the Spider part offers field control. Mother Spider is a beatstick, while also being able to get rid of your opponent's monsters from time to time. Yes the monsters have to be face up defense position monsters, but when there's triple Stumbling, double Enemy Controller, double No Entry!!, triple Ground Spiders, and Light of Intervention the odds of them not having face up defense position monsters are fairly low. With monster's low defense Spyder Spider comes in, when it destroys a defense position monster it'll recruit a spider that has already fallen, grab another Spyder to summon another Spider or poke for 1500, grab Ground to offer more protection, or just go for a Rank 4.

Light of Intervention is really cool in this deck. It allows you to use Sasuke, Relinquished Spider, Mother Spider, Spyder, and Enemy Controller to their full potential while also stopping flip effects. Sasuke will destroy any face up defense monster it battles before the damage calculation. being searchable and an 1800 attack body its pretty sturdy on its own. Relinquished Spider kicks things up a little, if there are 4 or more Insects in the grave you can tribute it to destroy all face up defense monsters your opponent controls, with a small spider like that it can bring a plague to your opponent's field. Enemy Controller will allow you to either switch an opponent's monster to defense or take control of a face up monster they control. And like I said about Mother Spider she can tribute two of oyur opponent's monsters to special summon herself.

Ebisu can act like a mini Giant Trunade on your opponent's side with the right amount of Ninjas, and it can be hard to handle if your opponent can't do anything to stop Ebisu where you can continuously return their backrow and attack freely. Brain Crusher is another Transformation beatstick who also happens to revive your opponent's monsters to your side, we all know being able to have access to your opponent's monsters is fun. Zephyros is not only a Transformation and Monk target, it also allows you to reuse your used up Call of the Haunteds, Transformations, Fiendish Chain. or even Stumbling. Duplicity is really easy to take advantage of, since the main deck has 4 different types that are all easy to get into the grave and the extra deck is so diverse, losing a battle phase isn't that much of a problem since defense position monsters can't attack whether they are your own or your opponent's.

I really only want to mention Key Beetle from the extra deck. Being able to protect Stumbling or Intervention will really hurt the opponent until they can get an entire field wipe, but at that point you'll probably be in a good position already since they may not have anything else to overcome your field on a later turn. The rest of the extra deck is fairly simple, where you use what you need for a specific situation.

Well I think that covers just about everything. The deck might not be the most competitive, but its pretty fun to play. Being able to thin your deck and set up quickly is nice, but being able to thin, set up, control the field, and play a grinding game can be a bit difficult for the opponent and sometimes frustrating the opponent is good enough whether you win or lose, you know you had to make them work for it.
