Forum:Light and Darkness Dragon Text HELP!!!

I know the general rulings and effects in and out with LaDD, but an opponent of mine has recently brought up an argument that made me second guess myself. Here is the situation.

I control a face up LaDD and NO OTHER CARDS.

My opponent destroys my LaDD in battle.

I attempt to summon a monster but my opponent says i am unable too and quotes this line from the card text:

" When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, select 1 monster in your Graveyard. Then destroy all cards you control, and Special Summon that monster."

My opponent claims since i don't have at least 1 card that i control that will be destroyed by LaDD 3rd effect, I can't Special Summon a monster. By what the card text says, isn't my opponent right? Do I need to have a card(s) to destroy for LaDD 3rd effect to resolve (because it's a trigger and activates regardless if I can special summon a monster or not)?—This unsigned comment was made by 216.78.200.172 (talkcontribs) 03:43, 2011 October 18

  • On Talk Pages and Forum Pages, it's a good practice to sign your posts. You can do that by adding four tildes (~~~~) to the end of your post and it will automatically create a signature for you when you click 'Publish'. LaDD's effect will resolve as best as it can, no monsters will be destroyed, and a monster is summoned. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 04:19, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

since you dont have any cards out on the field you can still technically destory the field. It won't really matter if you have cards or not you can still say i destory the field i believe. I may be wrong but i do the same thing destory the field when its empty. Though i believe it is legal to do this Alphabecta (talkcontribs) 21:53, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
