An '''effect''' ({{ruby|効|こう}}{{ruby|果|か}} ''kōka'') or '''card effect''' is [[card text]] which is unitalicized appears on [[Monster Card]]s (italicized card text is except for [[Normal Monster]]s, which instead have flavor text or a lore, which is italicized when printed in a language which uses the Latin alphabet), [[Spell Card]]s, and [[Trap Card]]s; and which is not a [[condition]], [[cost]], or [[material]]. Effects modify how the game is played gameplay in various ways. While Normal Monsters only have flavor text, and may appear on [[Monster Card|Normal Pendulum Monster]], s may have a [[Spell Card|SpellPendulum Effect]], or [[Trap Card|Trap]] Cardsin addition to their flavor text.
