:Yes. If it would go directly from the field to the Graveyard for any reason, it will be placed face-up in the Extra Deck instead of ever actually going to the Graveyard, which allows for a lot of tricky plays. The anime never had a chance to show this, nor did it have a reason to. == How Much as Spells? ==

Card Effects; Sending
If Pendulum Monsters are monsters that can be activated as Spell Cards, would they also be treated as Spell Cards while in the hand, Main Deck or Graveyard? Like, suppose someone wanted to use the effect of "Dark Magician of Chaos" to return a Pendulum Monster from their Graveyard to their hand.
+
I'd like some confirmation on when Pendulums go to the grave. I've been playing with some people, and a couple claim that should a Pendulum be sent from the field to the grave by various card effects (like White Elephant's Gift), it doesn't go to the Extra Deck. Is this true?
 +
Also, what happens if a card says 'destroy the Pendulum and Banish it instead of sending it to the graveyard' (similar to Bottomless Trap Hole)? Or cards like Macro Cosmos?

If that's true, should this mechanic be added to the article? --<font color="lime">Yes, it's PSYCHID!</font> <font color="skyblue">He talks!</font> <font color="red">He does stuff!</font> 13:34, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

: If a Pendulum Monster goes from the field to the Graveyard, it goes to the Extra Deck. That being said, I believe that Bottomless and Macro will intercept and banish them. Pendulum Monsters are only Spell cards in pendulum Zones, other than that, they are monsters, so they cannot be retrieved by "Dark Magician of Chaos" from the Graveyard.--Chadook (talk • contribs) 14:01, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

:They're only treated as Spells in the Pendulum Zones. Anywhere else, they're monsters.ChaosGallade (talk • contribs) 15:51, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

:They don't. They only count as Spells on the field, and are monsters everywhere else. That's why they're referred to as "Pendulum Monsters" when being searched for through the deck, targeted in the Graveyard, or targeted while in the Extra Deck. And while they do count toward S/T on the field, they are never referred to as "Pendulum Spells," merely "Cards in the Pendulum Zone." == Effect Box Transparency ==

I was testing some things with extracted Master Duel assets to try to figure out the exact point where the transparency of pendulum effect boxes ended for personal reasons. While doing this, I realized that duplicating the layer of the pendulum card frame and setting the duplicated layer to "difference" mode would be an easy way to see it. Surprisingly, when I did this, the entire effect box was showing transparency, with the transparency fading from the top of the box to the bottom. :From memory, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is one of the best examples of this. Sanokal K-T (talk • contribs) 20:10, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

::Oh wow, I didn't notice that. I just checked, and I can see Odd-Eyes' foot inside his monster effect box on several of his artworks. Flare Kyn (talk • contribs) 21:15, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

:::A couple of the ones I found are and , though you have to zoom in pretty far to see them. I'm not entirely sure if these are the exceptions or the general rule, though. Flare Kyn (talk • contribs) 18:58, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

:The reason I was bringing this up was because this page says that only the top part of the monster effect box is transparent, even though nearly the entire box has some level of transparency. I saw that this page was edited to include this fact and have been trying to edit the Fandom wiki to do the same, but Pitifulheartles keeps reverting my edits because he's worried about Yugipedia DMCA-ing the Fandom wiki for "plagiarism" (he didn't even try to reword it himself, he just completely reverted it back to what it was). I already did what I could to change up the wording, so I'm at a loss on what to do. :Yes, the Odd-Eyes alt art makes it tricky to quantify, particularly with how much later it is. From memory though the arts of Pendulum Monsters in the video games are all the same dimensions though, so it might just be a case of not wanting to hide so much of the art in the text box, which is understandable.

:As a completely unbiased admin of this wiki, I would recommend you don't bother adding that information to the FANDOM wiki. That user is technically correct in that there are plagiarism concerns with doing so, regardless of their approach, so in general we'd prefer you stick to one wiki (and hopefully this one if possible).
