It directly translates to "vullet" and we know that CR's subs can be incorrect. (See: "Luciano", Ute/Hyugo/Joeri, etc.) I don't believe it should be changed from "vullet" until we get confirmation with Circuit Break's TCG release. It does directly translate as "vullet" in Japanese. TopologicDragon (talk • contribs)

If we wanna be as technically correct as humanly possible, its literal, direct translation from katakana to the latin alphabet is "varetto" and as such, I believe we should recognize "vullet" as a preliminary and unofficial translation and stick to calling the OCG name "varrett" --TrueShadox (talk • contribs) 21:08, August 4, 2017 (UTC)

My point is that if they wanted it to be "Vullet" they could have used ヴレット as the direct katakana transliteration of "bullet" is ブレット; the fact that it's ヴァレット and not ヴレット (as in, it includes the character ァ, thus changing it to "ba" or "va" instead of "bu" or "vu") leads me to believe that Varrett, in addition to being the initial official translation, is the more accurate rendering of the OCG name. Translated Name

For regards to Varret vs Vullet, it depends what you consider more important: Technical Accuracy or 4KMedia's interpretation. The cards are clearly a group of bullets. But the official handlers of the IP's localization with regards to the cartoon have deemed it Varret. At the end of the day, both names are a corrupted term for bullet.

Wikia policy documents or prior decisions should probably solve this easily. But this might be a first.

Keep in mind Vullet was just the Org's name for purposes of communicating what the cards were until an official name came through. That doesn't make the Org better than 4KMedia. Personally I think Varret(t) might work out better. Just explain Varret is a corruption of Bullet. NeoArkadia (talk • contribs) 21:12, August 4, 2017 (UTC)

ブレット isn;t Bullet, バレット is. They twisted the name to ヴァレット to avoid interactions with ヴォルカニック・バレット, i.e. Volcanic Shell. B and V are nearly identical sounds in Japanese. They twisted it and Vorreload to a different spelling from Baretto (Bullet) and Barreru (Barrel) to avoid interactions with other cards they didn't want these new cards to interact with for ABC Reason. Functionally if you want to be super strict about this it's clearly an Autobullet Dragon and a Barreload Dragon as they're clearly all bullets and the spinning barrel of a gun turned into dragons.

4Kmedia and the rest of the companies in the YGO Franchise just doesn't like guns being directly referenced in English because they're not friendly to 6 year olds internationally. —This unsigned comment was made by NeoArkadia (talk • contribs) 21:38, August 4, 2017‎ (UTC)

Ah, apologies for my oversight. I was unaware there was a more proper translation/transliteration of bullet and also that Volcanic Shell and the like were relevant to this discussion. I suppose that invalidates my points, but I maintain that Varrett should be treated as the OCG name for all intents and purposes, even if only because of the subs' translation. Being that I'm new to Japanese circa 1 year or so ago, again I apologize for my mistakes; I was taking the transliteration at face value instead of considering every possibility more carefully.
