RE: Card Loan

Hi Delta, I was wondering if it was possible for you to move the page FIle: Card Loan.png to File:CardLoan-EN-Anime-GX.jpg as I'm unable to do so, also the first image is of slightly better quality, than the second, and doesn't have the Cartoon Network logo on it. --Trivi-AM 21:52, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Delta, wondering

Haven't talked to you in a while. But anyway, do you need someone to upload the decks or something for all the characters in Stardust Accelerator? I've noticed that the dropdown menu Stardust Accelerator Characters has a lot of red articles, so I was just wondering if you wanted me to try to fix up those red articles. • Hm, can I set up the page and I'll work on getting the pictures later? I can now, but I'm pretty sure we want them up ASAP. I'll start to look for them pictures. Vehicroidsrage 22:49, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

I understand; no images on user pages. Is that statement true? I thought it just couldn't be card images. And, just because I like knowledge, I ask: why can't there be card images on user pages? I hope I do not sound rude or aggravated. -bewk

Plz can you explain me why did u erase my contribution under "fungi of the musk"/trivia ? Semantics

Ugh, these semantics are messed up... Why is Type:: limited to only one? Why aren't Effect/Fusion/etc... included inside type? I'd expect to be able to ask and get back cards which have at least [Warrior/Fusion] inside their type. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Aug 9, 2009 @ 01:19 (UTC)

Ok, right I got that query wrong. The proper query would be , and yes that would work without using a separate property.
Technically you could use a concept with Synchro|Effect and use that in type queries. Though really, in this case it would be best to have two types, one for querying and displaying, and another for duplicating what is on the card.
Could you make a tweak or two so that I can replicate the data of what is on a card. The Card Type is mixed in with other stuff and uses superfluous page names, I can't use it in the system. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Aug 9, 2009 @ 21:26 (UTC)

Decks for Free! Deletion

  • I'm not sure if your the one to ask, but your the one I thought of. Decks for Free! is a page in the Deck Help forum on which users can ask for a deckbuilder (Blue-Eyes White Kid, Bluedog, and Tantara) to build them a deck. The page has become popular and large. Certain users, after asking for a deck, abandon their requests after a Deckbuilder asks them a question (an example might be a deckbuilder asking how much the duelist is willing to spend on cards). I'd like to know if I'm allowed to delete those abandoned requests that clutter the page. Thanks, Tantara 20:30, 18 August 2009 (UTC).

A Possible Partnership

Hello, Deltaneos. I like your Wiki very much. The only thing I don't like about the Wiki is the Decklist Help subsection in the forum. That is why I made My Yugioh Deck Wiki. It is the same idea as the Decklist Help forum, went a bit farther. With this Wiki, people can post their own decks for others to view, as well as edit others' decks. We will include ways to supe up Structure Decks and Starter Decks, and we will showcase decks based on archetypes, such as Monarchs, Heros, Morphtronics, and Blackwings.

With this, I have two requests. The first is that I can borrow the Deck List template from Yugioh Wiki to use on My Yugioh Deck Wiki. I know how to activate it once I have the codes. The second request I have is that My Yugioh Deck Wiki be featured on the Main Page of Yugioh Wiki in the Related Sites box, similarly to Yugioh Card Maker Wiki. Yugioh Wiki is the inspiration for My Yugioh Deck Wiki, and it would be an honor for me and my Wiki, as well as a service to it for you to feature us.

Thank you for reading this message, and I hope you consider my request. Have a great day! --ThePurps 03:03, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Would someone who knows the answer to this question please reply. When is Abe the Monkey Man's deck/cards shown? I've been re-watching the Grand Championship episodes over and over but I can't spot his cards. Perhaps they're shown very vaguely so I'm missing them? Anyway, please reply someone! —This unsigned comment was made by Robbiejennings (talkcontribs) 09:30, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Featured Duels format + Complete list of ALL Duels in Yu-Gi-Oh! anime

Hi Deltaneos. I'd like to bounce a few ideas off you if I may:

  • 1) Firstly, if I can make a suggestion: I noticed you've been starting to edit the format of Featured Duels, beginning from episode 1 (cf: Duel Summary is neater when there isn't a header for every turn and a pile of repeated links). I personally don't think it's a very good idea. Thumbs up on the repeated links removal (no one needs to know what "attack", "destroy", or a "Normal Summon" are), but without a header for each individual turn it's kind of hard to keep track of the duel, especially if you're going back & forth between your Windows Media Player and your internet browser. I liked individual turn headers a lot better, so perhaps just reducing the headers to === instead of == for each individual turn might be sufficient. Of course it's just my opinion and you're free to do as you like.

  • 2) I'm currently working on tabulating a complete list of ALL the duels ever played in the Yu-Gi-Oh! second series anime, under the following format (also why I'd like the Duel format to remain as is, so that the number of turns can be more easily counted):

Duel # Season Story arc Episode(s) Duelist #1 vs Duelist #2 Winner LP #1 LP #2 Turns
1 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 001 Joey Wheeler vs. Yugi Muto Yugi Muto 0 N/A N/A
2 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 001 Yami Yugi vs. Seto Kaiba Yami Yugi 400 1000 17
3 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 004-005 Yami Yugi vs. Weevil Underwood Yami Yugi 50 0 28
4 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 006 Joey Wheeler vs. Mai Valentine Joey Wheeler 1020 0 9
5 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 007 Yami Yugi vs. Mako Tsunami Yami Yugi 1480 0 12
6 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 008 Yami Yugi vs. Mokuba Kaiba (interrupted) 2000 1100 3
7 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 009-010 Yami Yugi vs. Ghost Kaiba Yami Yugi 500 0 18
8 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 011-012 Joey Wheeler vs. Rex Raptor Joey Wheeler 235 0 23
9 Season 1 Duelist Kingdom 013 Yami Yugi vs. Yami Bakura Yami Yugi 500 0 13

What I was thinking then, once all the data's been gathered, it could be set up in a nice sortable wikitable just like the above (and such as the ones you have to list all monsters of a given Type). Website users could then click and re-arrange the table by Duelist, Turns, Remaining LP, etc.

This'd be quite a long-term project, but one which I think would greatly benefit the Wiki. I would however need people helping me gather all the data

Let me know what you think. (Mpanty 19:08, September 2, 2009 (UTC))

  • By the way just now, I already integrated the first table into the Duelist Kingdom story arc page. It's looking fairly good I'd say. (Mpanty 20:07, September 2, 2009 (UTC))

RE: RE: Featured Duels format + Complete list of ALL Duels in Yu-Gi-Oh! anime

  1. RE: TOC & Featured Duel formatting: I don't like the 5th level idea too much, because the end result just formats the text in bold. I feel each turn should have at least a bigger-sized font ( like level 3 === , although personally I kinda like the separation line given by level 2 == ; again, just personal preference). Also, I prefer having each turn appear in the TOC because then they are automatically numbered! One just needs a quick look at it to determine the number of turns.
Personally I don't think having the turns appear in the TOC is such a big deal: the biggest feature of each episode are the Duels, what else can the TOC really feature??? Plus, having a long TOC immediately gives a visitor the idea of "wow, this was a long duel!".
  2. RE: Duels Table: Yes the whole idea was making a table for ALL duels in the anime. Then I can just cut & paste the relevant sections for each story arc/season as needed. To give you an idea of how I'm collecting the data:
    1. First I've set up a normal table (no code) in Excel. That helps me organize it visually, and I enter the data straight from each episode page.
    2. Then, I adapt it into the wikitable by copying & pasting each row individually, which is easy to do with Excel.
So I started off with Duelist Kingdom, but yes "season" and "arc columns" could be removed for that specific table. However firstly it's a bit tedious (because of the way my wikitable is structured and the way I'm gathering the data for the ENTIRE anime series, one would have to remove the appropriate sections for EACH story arc one by one), and secondly I figured keeping that table's format constant throughout all pages would create instant visual recognition with the site users.
The bottom line: what I'm looking for are volunteers to gather data from all the story arcs and then feed it to me. I can then compile it and publish all tables as needed (one for each story arc/season and one for entire anime series). If you think that's something that could be done, I guess the next step would be posting it in the forum. (Mpanty 23:13, September 2, 2009 (UTC))
      • 1) RE: RE: TOC & Featured Duel formatting: Yeah, I've seen your comments about using Lvl.1 headers before... what is it that you don't like about them so much? True, using them means the text is on par with the title of the page, but visually they're effective. In particular, putting a Lvl.1 header to "Featured Duel" makes each individual turn header a Lvl.2: personally, seeing turns separated by a horizontal bar is something I find a lot more appealing that just having "Yami Yugi's Turn" in bold (Lvl.3). Let alone having no header at all, like you did for episodes 1 & 2: I find that extremely hard to read.
I do agree that no user will ever click on a turn link in the TOC to jump to that section, but like I said, it's not so much the TOC that I like (other than the fact it automatically numbers the turns) but rather how visually the Duel shows up in the page in its entirety.
All the other things you mentioned are actually valid points, forgot about those. However, they're limited to only the first few story arcs I'd say. Most of the other episodes just have a featured duel transcript (trust me, I've been re-editing most of them and I've seen the work :)). In the long run, we'd like to have complete sections for all episodes obviously but I think we're a long a way from that for the moment.
Having multiple TOCs sounds like a good idea, if it's feasible.
I don't have too much experience with wikis, but as an admin is there some way you can edit the stylesheet for the entire Wiki, and increase the font or style of each header by one level? That way, a page's title would be bigger than it is now, using a Lvl.2 header would essentially give the same font as a Lvl.1, and we could then use Lvl.3 headers for turns & still maintain the horizontal bar.
      • 2) RE: RE: Duels Table: Yes I know the info is on the episode pages. What I need is people helping me get it! :) It's going to take quite a while, and of course I can do it by myself but I figured enlisting some help would speed things up since it's just basic copy-pasting. Basically I need all types of info I've already put in the first table: Episodes, Duelists, Winner, LP remaining, Number of turns. Initially I intended to write a post in the forum but the reason I asked you first is because as an admin, you probably have a better idea if I'd find volunteers to do it. I didn't mean to ask you personally to do all the work. And yes, creating another list with that same information from the mangas is a great idea, but that info would have to be gathered entirely by someone else, as I am not in possession of any of them. (--Mpanty (talk) 02:18, September 3, 2009 (UTC))
        • 1) RE: RE: TOC & Featured Duel formatting: Ok I understand. I kinda figured that changing the global stylesheet just for the sake of the Featured Duels would be silly, I was just wondering if it was feasible. It's good to know I have the possibility to change private stylesheets fror myself only, however my discourse for the sake of ALL the site's visitors and how to display featured duels for everyone. At any rate, I don't know what your plans are for editing all episodes one by one from the beginning, but I figured before you do I'd give you my 2 cents. If I had one final suggestion, I'd say if you absolutely insist on getting rid of the Lvl.2 headers for each player's turn, at least make them Lvl.3, but not delete them altogether like you did for Ep.1&2. I liked your first suggestion to number each turn individually (1st turn - Seto Kaiba), something like:

1st turn - Joey Wheeler

2nd turn - Yami Yugi

3rd turn - Joey Wheeler

etc.

        • 2) RE: RE: Duels Table: Ok that's what I wanted to know. I figured that as an admin, maybe you were more directly in contact with the community but I guess I'll just pitch the idea in the forum and see what response(s) I get. Thanks for the tips. (--Mpanty (talk) 18:42, September 3, 2009 (UTC))

Administrator?

Hey Deltaneos, I don't suppose you remember me? Anyways, I was just wondering if there was any formal method of requesting adminship here - I poked around some, but couldn't turn anything up, so I figured I'd ask a bureaucrat. For a bit of background (in case you'd just like to review my request), I'm asking this because I only occasionally swing by here, and when I do, I tend to make technical edits that often would be expedited if I had access to the tools (not to mention the extra array of edits I could make myself without having to request and wait for an admin to respond, which has actually discouraged me from making such edits at all). I am familiar with the tools - I have been an administrator on Wikipedia since May, and on XentaxWiki since 2005. If you'd like to confirm that I am those accounts, feel free to register on those wikis (if you haven't already done so) and shoot me emails. Thanks in advance for your assistance/consideration! ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 07:01, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

Hi Dinoguy. No, I do remember you. I had even noticed you had been rfa'd on Wikipedia before, but I didn't know if you'd been successful or not. Won't worry about e-mail conformation for now. You're a convincing fake to say the least. :p
There is no formal way of requesting adminship. To date administrators have just been chosen from users recognised as being useful. Asking outright for adminship after a long period of being inactive is a dubious choice, I'll admit. Proving you are a serious editor here beforehand is typically required to become an administrator... but it's not impossible to become one without that.
I do trust that you wouldn't abuse sysop abilites and can make improvements given access to protected/MediaWikipages, but would rather reserve sysop for users who are going to be active-ish. Before making this request you'd been inactive for 1 year. Was there really nothing you could do without needing admin abilities? Okay, should this request be successful, have you specific plans in mind; is there anything you can do to majorily help out the site? And should this request be unsuccessful, do you still plan on helping out?
Don't get me wrong, you seem like a nice guy and I'd be happy to make you an admin, if you can be a great asset to this site. Please don't be too offended if this doesn't work out. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:49, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
No worries, I'm not offended in the least. Had I thought of it at the time, I'd have specifically requested you question my motives like you did. ;) I'd agree with you about being inactive and then just popping up and requesting to be made an admin, and to be honest, if someone did the same with me, I'd probably deny their request just for that fact (although I would also consult with the other bureaucrats and get their opinion, and if I were familiar with the requester, that would also help). =) Other than that, there are certainly things I could do around here without access to the tools (including any number of automated tasks using AWB like what I've done before with set number redirects), as I said above, but my actions would definitely be improved with access - however, I don't have any immediate plans to increase my level of contributions here, as Wikipedia eats up most of my free time (though I have been considering taking a wikibreak to try and catch up on some RL stuff and on XentaxWiki, in which case, I'd also ratchet up my contributions here). As for specific plans, I've noticed that the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia seems to be migrating away from using categories, in which case I could help empty them with AWB before deleting the empty categories, and I've definitely noticed things I could help improve in regards to pages in the MediaWiki namespace - not least of which, I'm reasonably knowledgeable editing in it, and would be happy to handle any requests requiring edits to MediaWiki pages. All this being said, it's probably not terribly convincing in light of the questions you asked me, and I'd certainly understand if you refuse to grant my request anyways. Cheers! ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 16:27, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
A lot of categories were replaced with properties and values after we got SMW. Most of which were added via template, so emptying them hasn't been an issue. Although I suppose there's still like >100 Monsters by ATK and DEF categories which need deletion.
I think I'll decline... at least for now. (Sorry) I'd rather you familiarise yourself with editing this particular site a bit more and let us see what you have to offer. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:37, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
All right, that's fine (truthfully, I half-expected for my request to be declined, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask regardless). =) I'll just have to see if I can find some free time to spend here at some point... ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 16:38, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

Selket Cards & Giant Rex

In the Mystical Beast Serket pages, it states that in the anime it could only be summoned when Seal of Serket and Cup of Sealed Soul were on the field (different to the real card). However, Odion never says this. It may be that it could be summoned normally, and the two fore-mentioned spells just helped summon it. For example, one adds it from his deck to his hand, the other may summon it with no tribute. Please alter( or allow me to) if you feel neccessary. Also, I would appreciate it if you edited [[Giant Rex]'s lore. Listen to what other members have written on it's discussion pages. (Robbiejennings 21:07, September 3, 2009 (UTC))

DUEL TERMINALs

Firstly, I was wondering if and when Duel terminals will ever be coming to the UK.

Also, I don't know much about the pack. Is it a booster pack as well?- or are the cards only obtainable from the terminal itself? (Robbiejennings 21:07, September 3, 2009 (UTC))

most expensive card?

RE:Transcluding names from redirects

Odd, I tested it before, and it was working. Tsk, there goes that idea.

Hm, any other ideas on how to do something like this? --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 01:30, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Aha! I didn't think that "Ask" would work. I figured that if there were multiple cards with the same OCG name (like in some "Card Appearances" articles) then it would blow up, but your voodoo seems to be working: 『守備』封じ gives "", not "Defense Paralysis" or anything weird. Thanks! --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 02:15, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Well, we already know the TCG names for those two, so this'll never be used for that. Hopefully >.> <.< --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 02:33, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Querying Properties for groups of values

Since you seem to be familiar with the system, I was wondering if you knew of any way to query the property system to get a list of all values listed under e.g. the "TCG Set Prefixes" property. I specifically need such a list from a Special page, unless you know some way to rig a custom page in another namespace to spit out such a list. This would be a great help to me if it is possible, since then I could much more easily create lists to run AWB on (it doesn't seem to like reading from the Property namespace).

Alternately, if there is some simple way to get a list directly from a page in the Property namespace (an API query or some such), I could use it to generate a text file to use for AWB instead. *goes back to winnowing list auto-generated from Special:ListRedirects* ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 06:56, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, the first way is possible. Such a query can be made at Special:Ask. TCG Set Prefixes::+ will get all pages using that Property. -- Deltaneos (talk) 12:18, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
All right, that looks useful (though it seems I'll have to generate a text file from the results before I can really use them, unless there is a way to link the entries in the second column - also, do you think you could demonstrate an inline query generating the same list?). I note that there seem to be a very large number of sets missing from that results page, though - another job I should be able to do with AWB at some point, I think. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:04, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Whether the second column is linked or not depends on the type assigned to the property. Property:TCG Set Prefixes is Type:String. It'd have to be Type:Page for the values to be linked. (But Type:Page skips redirects, so the values would become "Ancient Prophecy" rather than "ANPR".)
It's not possible to link to the values for a string on Special:Ask. You'll need to use #ask itself if you want to link them. is the equivalent of the above query. It is has no setting to immediatly link the values, but adding |format=template|template=template name will put the results into a template, with the pagename (including a link) as {} and its corresponding value as {} So if the template is a simple as * {} - {}. The output will be:
If the automatic link in {} proves problematic, you can add |link=none to the query. (So the full query would be
-- Deltaneos (talk) 17:33, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Ooh, very nice! I'm starting to see the allure of SMW. =D This should allow me to create a number of job batches in my user space quite easily (once I get the hang of the syntax... it doesn't look difficult, but just different from the typical MediaWiki fare). In the meantime, if you have suggestions for jobs you think AWB might be able to handle, and sample ask queries, feel free to list them on my talk page (or create subpages in my userspace for them, even).
In the meantime, do you have any comments on the redirect edits I made last night? Especially in regards to the editrate - I actually set the timer to 0 and used the page load/save times as the limiter, which effectively limited AWB to ~7-8 edits a minute, but I can set it higher if you'd like me not to flood recentchanges so badly next time. =) --Dinoguy1000 (talk contribs) as 72.251.177.151 00:07, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
Why did you leave that message, while logged out? o_O
Only use for AWB I can think of off the top of my head is removing a massive number of links; The article Opponent recently got deleted and left a lot of redlinks. Would you be able to clean-up the links, apart from ones appearing on talk pages.
As for the category redirects... I never quite got the reason for them. I suppose it's a handy way to get a list of all card or set numbers. Property:Card Number can at least do that for card numbers.
If AWB edits are flooding the recent changes too much, you could make another account that I could request a bot flag for... Although I think I remember hearing a bot flag isn't really neccessary for just AWB tasks. Dunno if that's true or why it would be the case. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:55, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
Heh heh, you should have a look at this if you think that was surprising. =D
I'll certainly do that for you, but that's only the tip of the iceberg of AWB's capabilities. Because it uses regular expressions to make changes to pages, the type of edits it can do are basically only limited by the user's creativity and knowledge in creating regexes. Just a sample of tasks it can do is modifying categories and templates, linking or delinking terms, and even spell checking (to an extent)!
If you don't want any of the redirect categories, I'll stop doing that, and will remove the template from the ones I've tagged (that's not as bad as it sounds; there're a total of about 1600 redirects categorized so far, but there's over 4000 total redirects just from card numbers.
Technically, a bot flag isn't necessary for any task, regardless of how it's run. However, I wouldn't mind registering another account and waiting for a bot flag on it, since my last AWB run was essentially a bot run anyways (AWB was autosaving, but I was monitoring it). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 20:34, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
Okay. There are plenty of instances where AWB could be used to replace text. The majority of names and terminology from the Japanese version get changed when translated to English. So we get a significant amount of pagemoves. Correcting pages that mentioned the old names become a time consuming task... okay if I poke I you for help with that in the future? I don't mind if you continue categorising the redirects. Apart from flooding the recent changes, there aren't any disadvantages as far as I know.
If you want the bot flag, just give me the name of its account and I can request the flag. (Wikia bureaucrats can't give bot flags themselves) If you want to request it yourself, Special:Contact can be used to contact staff. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:02, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
Yep, just give me a list of needed renames whenever you want it done (I'm assuming that most of the time, these terms will be linked, which should greatly help in generating job lists). As for the redirects, if you can think of any other ways you'd like them categorized, don't hesitate to ask (I noticed unnecessary formatting on many redirects during that last AWB run, and intend to find or write a regex to standardize/clean them up at some point). Other than that, feel free to occasionally ask for something even if you think AWB can't handle it - I myself have been surprised more than once at the type of jobs I've seen done with AWB, and if I can't figure it out, I can always ask on Wikipedia. =) In the meantime, I'll probably run some sample previews (don't have to save; I can preview and see diffs right in AWB) with general fixes/spellchecking turned on to see if I can run that without any problems. Over time, I may be able to create a general fixes file specifically for this wiki.

Much like Wikipedia, it appears that this Wikia wiki tightly restricts how fair-use images can be used (every image of a Yu-Gi-Oh! card is fair use, because it is a duplication of copyrighted material). The policy here seems to be that fair-use images cannot be used in the userspace, in which case you cannot have them on your userpage. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 20:26, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
