Amazon(ess) Archer

If you inspect the list on Shriek's TCG site more closely you'll find that it's riddled with errors due to the fact that his source was somewhat dubious. I do know the difference between the two cards, I simply made that edit based on the fact that I swear down I remember seeing a forum post by a Konami representative stating that Amazon Archer would be reprinted in Gold Series 3 and that her name would be fixed. As it turns out, that seemingly has not happened. -- DanieruLynx 17:56, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

 • New evidence has arisen that shows I was in fact potentially right to make that edit. Amazon Archer is in Gold Series 3. Shriek's list needs correcting. Whether or not she ends up being renamed as suspected though is yet to be seen, as said evidence is a picture of eight Amazoness cards from Gold Series 3 (including Amazon Archer) from a German eBay seller, and Amazon Archer's German name has always been consistent with her sisters. We'll just have to wait and see. -- DanieruLynx 18:11, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

Kuri-master

Okay, I'm getting really fed-up with Kuri-master, who keeps adding stupid tips that don't work. I constantly revert his edits and give my reasoning, and he reverts them, ignoring the reasoning. Re:Misgarth

Misgarth was the name of his Kingdom in the dub, and the satellite went unnamed. I don't believe it was used as a family name. If it was, I'm sure an IP would have moved Prince Ojin to Ojin Misgarth by now. Unfortunately, I cannot locate a subbed episode for episode 84, so can't check to see if the term was used. Janime's summaries mention the term "Misralz Kingdom" all of one time in her summary, so it appears that the country was named, though whether "Misralz", "Misgarth" or neither is an accurate translation is something I can't tell you. Video game decklists

Is the eventual goal to list every Deck used in every game in the Character Decks articles? If so, there are some listed on separate pages in the Deck Recipe pages and elsewhere that could be copied and put into the Decks articles. However, doing so would also make a separate page for each character's Decks nearly inevitable. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:56, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Not so much a problem, as my just finding it strange they we may eventually have an article called "Damon's Decks". That being said, I'm not suggesting we start splitting stuff right away, but adding the ones we've recorded to the deck pages is something I'll probably work on now and again, despite not having played a YGO video game in years. Three quick questions

1. Should attack names be confined to said page, or is appropriate to list them on the Card Appearances pages as well. I've seen plenty of pages do so, but thought they may predate the attack names article.

2. Since you're familiar with the manga, could you please clarify whether or not I correctly condensed the disjointed statement here?

3. What's the best way to locate images that have already been uploaded to the wiki. I'm trying to find some images for the summary section of GX articles, and have been having some problems doing so when they don't involved images already being used elsewhere. Specifically, I'm searching for an image of Fubuki possessed by Darkness that doesn't show him in another episode using a card he doesn't use in this one. Thanks, Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:14, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

Alright then, many thanks as usual. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 16:13, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
To clarify, the pictures from the sites you linked should qualify as "fair use" images, correct. That's what I would put in the licensing box when uploaded? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:19, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
I've since uploaded three images, which I've put in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Episode 180. Before I upload anything else, I'd like to be absolutely sure I've done this properly and that Fair use rationale I put in is correct. I'm also unsure if the file names or appropriate or not, as the guidelines page didn't have any on non-card images. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:42, July 1, 2010 (UTC)
Alright perfect. Thanks again. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 15:57, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

This deck is focused in make your monsters very strong for the equipments and for their own monster's effects. Monsters like Morphtronic Videon and Maha Vailo works very well in this deck. A deck which makes Truckroid an unstopeable monster, while it is equipped with Mage Power and his little brother, Armed Samurai - Ben Kei can destroy all your opponent's monsters by himself. Also Power Tool Dragon gives you an equipment each turn and it is very easy to summon with Dark Resonator.

Priority Issue

You know that you can call "Priority" on Rescue Cat. Since the duelist activate Torrential Tribute on summoning, and his buddy activate Priority Effect on Rescue Cat.

So there are two different line of chain rolling;

 1. Player chained to Rescue Cat's Summon with Torrential Tribute, then Cat's owner activate it effect - summon two random LV3 Beast-Type, and Torrential resolved, destroy the summoned monsters instead.
 2. Owner respond Priority before Torrential Tribute got chance, therefore Rescue Cat disappeared when Torrential Tribute have finally activate. Missed and destroy Torrential's owner's monster(s), if there are any, then two Beasts summoned onto the field, as resolved of Rescue Cat's effect.

You decided which one is right. --FredCat100 (talkcontribs) 23:37, June 30, 2010 (UTC)

Ignore what FredCat says. He is wrong. Malefic monsters in the movie are unaffected by the limitations their TCG/OCG versions have, except the "cannot be Normal Summoned or Set" part. In the movie, it is clearly shown that Paradox used multiple monsters to attack during 1 Battle Phase (while he controlled a face-up Malefic monster). Also, Malefic monsters DO send their counterparts from the Deck to the Graveyard in the movie, instead of removing them from play. This is how Paradox Special Summoned Stardust Dragon from the Graveyard with Malefic Paradox Dragon's effect. When the first summary of the movie was released in English, it explained that Malefic monsters were not as weak as they were in real-life. They didn't even need Malefic World to exist on the field. Thus, please ignore FredCat. Please read the movie summary for confirmation of what I said, as well as the card text of Malefic Cyber End Dragon.--UltimateKuriboh

Template:Card table set

You can see full sample deployments on "Dark Magician", "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", "Toon Goblin Attack Force", "Dragon Zombie", "Graverobber", "Crawling Dragon 2", "Claw Reacher", "Change Slime", and "Alector, Sovereign of Birds" (there are one- or two-line transclusions on a handful of other card pages, as well). I'm thinking the template might also automatically handle the "Alternate Artwork #" text seen on some video game cards, but I don't know what the desired standard for location, styling, etc. is (Dark Magician places it between the set name and parenthesis, whereas BEWD has it after the parenthesis). How does the template look (good enough for general deployment)? Thoughts? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:19, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Also, unless I'm mistaken about how SMW works, this template would allow us to automatically add SMW tags to articles based on what sets they're in, what their set numbers are, and what rarities they've been released as, finally allowing all this information to be searched via SMW queries. Is this desirable, and is there someone about who can advise me on applying SMW to this, if you can't for whatever reason? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:22, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
Looks good.
I didn't notice video game sets were noting alternate artworks. That seems overexcessive for the card articles.
SMW can be added, but there is one problem. The template doesn't have anything to say which language it is. We'd probably want something along the lines of English TLM number::TLM-EN001 and French TLM number::TLM-FR001
When a card has multiple rarities for the same set, I think the rarities should all go into the same parameter. There's a neat string function that's part of SMW forms, #arraymap, that can be helpful with this.
It works like this
For example, you have a template with {{#arraymap:{}|/|x|Rarity::x|/}} and use |rarity=UR/UtR, the output will be Rarity::UR/Rarity::UtR. (Not the names we'd be using, just an example.)
-- Deltaneos (talk) 01:08, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
So, simply remove the alternate artwork entries where they are encountered?
Yeah, I noted the language problem (not in the same vein as you did, but I still noticed it), but have been putting it off until I took the time to develop set, a totally insane idea I had to allow standard set name/abbreviation generation for all sets, in all languages, via a series of templates (like the ISO country/language code templates on Wikipedia, only without the international standardization). I can probably hack something in in the meantime; I'm just not sure whether I should implement it via a new named parameter (probably {l}), by tacking on another unnamed parameter to the end (which would potentially greatly complicate some of the parameter preprocessing), or by sticking the unnamed parameter after the set name (which feels most natural to me, but would require renumbering all the subsequent parameters and would break almost every one of the current (albeit few) transclusions).
I'm also wondering if it'd really be worth creating a new property for every language/region variant of every set ever released? It would be useful, true, but would it be useful enough? (on the other hand, once we got a general template for what should be on these properties hammered out, they could be created by bot, allowing us to implement them however we wanted) Also, would English TLM number::TLM-EN001 be the preferable naming for them? I'm immediately seeing alternates English TLM set number::... or TLM-EN set number::......
The problem with that is that I'm passing the rarities through r currently, which ensures the rarities are one of the documented ones, allows the use of either the abbreviation or the full rarity name, and auto-links it (I'm also using r on TCG-OCG card image to enable some of the value checking to be removed from that template's code). Is there a way to preserve this behavior using #arraymap et al? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 01:30, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
I'd probably leave out the alt artwork mention, but if other people want it, either your "extra3" or "extra4" looks fine.
I'm not sure I understand. You mean something where you can input "TLM-EN001" and it will recognise "The Lost Millennium" as the set and "English" as the language?
Unless the property mentions both the language and the set, I can't see any way of automatically creating set lists, at least not ones that will include the set number. I don't really mind which way they're named, as long as it's consistent.
I'm not sure I see how using r will conflict with using #arraymap. Won't {{#arraymap:{}|/|x|x}}|/}} or {{#arraymap:{}|/|x|x |/}} work? -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:00, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
Gotcha.
Sorry, no, I mean something where you can enter the set's name and language/region (something like Metal Raiders), or the set abbreviation and language/region abbreviation (something like MRD), or some combination/variant thereof, and you get back a standardized full set name or set abbreviation. Although, it may be possible (via severely abusing StringFunctions =D ) to come up with something that can kind of work on set numbers like that.
Yeah, I should have seen that...
Well, I'm not saying they'll conflict, but rather expressing my general ignorance of SMW syntax/usage, never having experimented with it enough to learn. I just wanted to make sure the template could be used together with that syntax without any problems, and if so, how. On further reflection, though, it's probably a moot point as long as the SMW stuff gets added in the /core template, since the rarity template is applied in the preprocessing "wrapper" template. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 04:22, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
