The Earliest Lists

I'm sure you said something about the earliest Lists for the TCG being accurate, and I understand that. But what about the earliest Lists for the OCG? As in when did they get their own exclusive Lists? Are there any reliable sites that display such Lists? I think on Manjyome OCG News, there were some, but I think they were early as 2005 or 2006, and it's kind of hard to understand the earliest of the Lists on that site, mostly because I don't know whether or not those were its earliest Lists. --Yes, it's PSYCHID! ^{He talks! That's a question I haven't been able to answer for years, actually. I have found a few sites with old OCG lists, including one that suggests there were lists as far back as 1999, but it's mostly second-hand accounts; I've never been able to track down any primary sources for old OCG lists (though I never got around to looking very hard, so they could quite easily be out there somewhere). Ideally, we'd want scans/photos of the lists from magazines uploaded to the wiki as authoritative documentation of early (or, rather, all) lists, but we'd have to be very careful about accidentally trusting a fake image.

As to Manjyomethunder, it was decided some time ago that the wiki would stop relying on them as a source for several reasons, but mainly because they're completely unofficial and they don't cite their sources (there's also the fact that they insist on using weird fan translations for card names even where an official English name has been confirmed, but that's more a procedural disagreement between them and the wiki than an actual strike against them). The same goes for the other Twoday.net sites (Manjyome TCG and the other one whose name escapes me at the moment). This doesn't mean you have to immediately go through and remove or replace any links you've added, but I would appreciate if you made sure to keep an eye out for higher-quality sources and replaced the Twoday.net links as you found them. 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 15:12, May 24, 2015 (UTC)

Does that mean if a new Forbidden/Limited List is leaked onto Twoday sites (which are my references to creating such pages), I shouldn't make a Wiki page(s) for it? No. Anything newswothy that pops up these days will be covered by the Organization, including new lists, and they are the ones who should be used as a source, at least while no official source is known. Older stuff is still problematic, though, since the Org wasn't formed until just a couple years ago or so. I'm not making any promises; but the next time I find the newest Forbidden/Limited Lists, I'll try to reference them from The Organization (and I'm surprised I found such Lists easier than I thought). However, would it be a good idea to upload magazine scans from Manjyome Thunder (where they display such Lists), and upload them on this Wiki to be added to the respective OCG Lists? --Yes, it's PSYCHID! ^{He talks! If Manjyome Thunder has magazine scans, they don't own the rights to them, since in principle anyone with access to the necessary back issues could track down the original lists and rescan them. In addition, any scans they have are likely to have been passed around plenty when they were the newest list. Creative Commons = Fair Use?

Partially for laughs, I did a quick check to see if one could select "Fair Use" as a licensing category when uploading an image, but I don't think I saw such a thing. Instead, there was something called "Creative Commons". Is that the same thing as "Fair Use"? If not, should I select "magazine scan" as an option, instead? --Yes, it's PSYCHID! ^{He talks! No, and yes. Creative Commons (Wikipedia) is a series of free licenses designed to allow you to easily control the rights on the content you've created, similar to licenses such as GPL, GFDL, etc. All of the options listed under the gray "This will be used in a way that qualifies as fair use under US law" header in the Licensing dropdown are fair use options. 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 06:41, June 5, 2015 (UTC)
