"The Trick Revealed!" (仕掛けバラし! Shikake Barashi!) is the twenty-third chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V manga.

This chapter was first printed in Japanese in the August 2017 issue of V Jump, released on June 21, 2017.

After learning the shocking truth behind Ren's existence, Yuya continues his fierce Duel against him, using his intellect and tricks to finally solve the mystery behind Ren's monster and defeat him.

Summary[edit]

Trying his best to honor Yugo's efforts, Yuya Sakaki has launched a powerful assault, trying to overcome Ren's godlike White Aura Biphamet. The attempt fails, and Ren tells Yuya the story of how he came into the service of Genesis Omega Dragon, when Ren was trying to be a champion just like the most famous Turbo Duelist of his time - his idol. Yet, despite the efforts he and his father put into their dreams, Ren had died before the end of the journey. All seemed lost, until he was saved by Eve with the power of G.O.D.. At the end of his second life, he was then called into the service of G.O.D., and now that service has brought him here, to this Duel with Yuya. Saying that, Ren finally unmasks himself, revealing a face and hair strikingly similar to Yugo's.

Yuya realizes who the legendary Turbo Duelist Ren idolizes is, and Ren confirms that indeed, he is Yugo's descendant, and he tried his hardest to honor his ancestor. And now, in an ironic twist of fate, here he is battling Yuya, and by extension Yugo. Yuzu Hiiragi, watching the Duel from the control room of the particle accelerator course, ponders the implications of Yugo being someone's ancestor. As far as she knows, Yugo is and always has been one of Yuya's other personalities.

Ren continues that he does not understand G.O.D.'s mind or manner: all he knows is that he made a deal with G.O.D. and was granted a boon, and now he must serve as payment. Such is his new fate, and so he will continue to battle and complete his mission. As Ren has taken battle damage, he activates his Set White Barrier. When a White monster he controls is attacked while he controls another White monster, he takes no damage. Yuya smirks upon hearing this. With the battle over, the effect of Enter-Mate Clay Breaker ends, and Biphamet's ATK returns to 3300. Yuya Sets a card to end his turn.

Ren begins his turn, and the next Action Card appears on the track. Once again, Ren uses his considerable lead to claim it. Ren uses the effect of White Salvation to add White Moray from his Graveyard to his hand. He then activates White Nightmare to send the two White Morays in his hand to the Graveyard to increase his Biphamet's ATK by 1000, to 4300. Ren attacks Clay Breaker, and Yuya activates his monster's effect, reducing Biphamet's ATK by 500 for every Pendulum Monster in his face-up Extra Deck. He has three (Clearwing Fast Dragon, Speedroid Hexasaucer, and Enter-Mate Rolling Sambaa), and so Biphamet loses 1500 ATK, to 2800.

The attack continues, and Clay Breaker, with 2000 ATK, is destroyed, with Yuya's LP falling to 800. Ren launches another of Biphamet's mysterious double attacks against Yuya directly, declaring that this is the end. However, since he's being attacked directly, Yuya Special Summons Performapal Kuriborder from his hand in Attack Position. If it's attacked, Yuya takes no battle damage, and even gains LP equal to the damage he would have taken. Furthermore, he activates his Set Trick Barrier, forcing Ren to attack a monster he controls if he can. And if that monster is destroyed, Yuya can draw a card. He chooses his Kuribohrder.

Biphamet continues its attack on Kuribohrder, and Ren activates the Action Card Drag Chute, preventing all LP recovery this turn. In addition, after this battle, Yuya will take 300 damage for every monster that was destroyed this turn. Kuribohrder is destroyed, and Yuya takes 600 damage, reducing his LP to 200. In exchange, Trick Barrier allows him to draw a card. Ren is perturbed that Yuya is still hanging on, and Sets a card before ending his turn. White Nightmare's effect expires, and Biphamet's ATK returns to 3300. Yuya notes to himself that he's lost a far amount of LP now... but that doesn't matter, because he's finally figured out White Aura Biphamet's mystery.

However, even with the mystery solved, it won't matter unless Yuya can take the lead from Ren and get the next Action Card. However, the Duel has proven that what Yugo said is true: there's just no making up the difference in the power of their Duel Runners. Ren calls out to Yuya, asking if he's suddenly lost his nerve, and Yuya decides that it's time for this magician to reveal the trick he has in his sleeve. He reveals another of his trick cards called the "Booster Unit".

Some time ago, before the Duel began, Yugo asks Yuya why he would choose a particle accelerator to battle Ren. Yuya explains that he can pull off a magic trick here. Ren's going to use a better Duel Runner this time, and there's nothing they can do about that. When he does, he'll be in the lead constantly, and claim all the Action Cards himself, putting them at a firm disadvantage. For that reason, Yuya has tweaked the particle accelerator so that it fires Solid Vision mass particles. Yugo wonders what good that will do.

In the present, Yuya calls out to Yuzu in the control room to push the button. Yuzu is confused, and looks on the control panel to see a button with a "push me" note tacked onto it. The button itself is very sloppily taped onto the panel. Yuzu slams her fist down onto the button as hard as she can. Nothing seems to happen, but suddenly the control room, the entire particle accelerator itself, roars to life. A still image of Yuya with the words "It's showtime!" appears on the screen as a computer voice declares that firing preparations are complete. In the accelerator, a steady stream of Solid Vision mass particles builds up in the tunnel, and bursts forward towards the two Duelists.

Yuya begins his turn, declaring that the fun starts now, and the next Action Card appears on the track. Ren stoically declares that the Action Card will be his yet again. Yuya plays his Booster Unit, a Solid Vision construct item similar to his bird Poppo or his paper airplane, and the booster appears on Yuya's Duel Runner. At the same moment, the Solid Vision beam lances forward, striking Yuya's Booster Unit and supercharging his Duel Runner. Yuya rockets forward, climbing around the tunnel of the particle accelerator, riding up, around, and finally past Ren and his White Aura Biphamet. Yuya takes the lead, and claims the turn's Action Card.

Yuya sets Scale 1 Performapal Pendulum Conductor in his Pendulum Zone alongside Scale 1 Speedroid Marble Machine. When activated, Pendulum Conductor's effect allows Yuya to take Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon from his Deck and place it in his face-up Extra Deck, and then increase Pendulum Conductor's Pendulum Scale by that monster's Level, to 8. With his Scale set, he can Pendulum Summon monsters from Level 2 to 7 from his hand or face-up Extra Deck at the same time. Yuya Pendulum Summons Clearwing Fast Dragon from his Extra Deck. In addition, since he has an Odd-Eyes in his Extra Deck, Yuya also Pendulum Summons Odd-Eyes Phantasma Dragon, ignoring his Pendulum Scale.

Yuya activates Clearwing's effect, negating White Aura Biphamet's effects, and reducing its ATK to 0. Ren reminds Yuya that with White Barrier in play, he won't take any damage while he controls two or more White Monsters. Yuya smirks and points out to Ren that he just gave away Biphamet's secret, because Ren only controls one monster. Yet, the effect applies despite that, so it must be impossible... unless White Aura Biphamet's two heads are treated as two separate monsters, whose effects revive the other head after destruction. Ren says that even if he's right, he still can't overcome a god's power, but even as he says it, Ren smiles.

Perhaps Ren's combination of cards is incredible, Yuya declares, but his own Entertainment Dueling can still top it. Yuya activates the Pendulum Effect of Pendulum Conductor: Pendulum Monsters he controls can declare an attack at the same time during the turn that they are Pendulum Summoned. If he destroys both heads at the same time, then Ren's entire combo will be done for. Ren won't go down that easily, and activates his Set White Howling, which allows him to banish a Spell from his Graveyard to negate the activation of Pendulum Conductor's effect.

Yuya, in response, activates the Action Card Exhaust Note, negating the effect of White Howling, Setting it back on the field, and preventing Ren from activating it again this turn. Yuya attacks the right head (who received Clearwing Fast Dragon's effect) of White Aura Biphamet with Clearwing Fast Dragon, and the left head (at full power) with Odd-Eyes Phantasma Dragon, both at the same time. When it battles, the effect of Odd-Eyes Phantasma Dragon reduces the ATK of the monster it battles by 1000 for every Pendulum Monster in Yuya's face-up Extra Deck. He has three, and so Biphamet loses 3000 ATK, to 300.

The attack continues, and both heads are destroyed simultaneously, rendering the effect of White Barrier useless. Ren yells as a god is finally brought down, and his LP fall to 0.

Featured Duel: Yugo/Yuya Sakaki vs. Ren[edit]

Duel continues from the previous Scale.

Turn 6: Yuya
Since he took damage while he controls a "White" monster, Ren activates "White Barrier". With this card's effect, when a "White" monster is selected as an attack target while there is another "White" monster on the field, Ren doesn't take any battle or effect damage. The effect of "Enter-Mate Clay Breaker" also wears off, returning the ATK of "White Aura Biphamet" to its original value ("Biphamet": ATK 1800 → 3300). Yuya Sets a card.

Turn 7: Ren
Ren obtains an Action Card. He activates the effect of "White Salvation", adding "White Moray" from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he activates "White Nightmare", sending two "White Morays" from his hand to the Graveyard to increase the ATK of "Biphamet" by 1000 ("Biphamet": ATK 3300 → 4300). "Biphamet" attacks "Clay Breaker", but the latter's effect activates. Yuya's Extra Deck contains "Enter-Mate Rolling Sambaa", "Speedroid Hexasaucer" and "Clearwing Fast Dragon" face-up, so the ATK of "Biphamet" decreases by 1500 during the battle ("Biphamet": ATK 4300 → 2800). The attack continues and "Clay Breaker" is destroyed (Yuya 1600 → 800). "Biphamet" attacks again, this time directly, but Yuya activates the effect of "Performapal Kuriborder", Special Summoning it from his hand (300/200), as well as making the damage become zero and healing Yuya for that damage. He also activates his face-down "Trick Barrier", making Ren only able to attack one monster Yuya designates this turn, and allowing him to draw a card if that monster is destroyed. Ren activates the Action Card "Drag Chute", nullifying the healing effect of "Kuribohrder". A replay occurs and "Biphamet" destroys "Kuribohrder", with the latter's effect making the damage to Yuya zero. However, the second effect of "Drag Chute" inflicts 300 damage to Yuya for each of his monsters that were destroyed this turn (Yuya 800 → 200). Since "Kuribohrder" was destroyed, the effect of "Trick Barrier" allows Yuya to draw one card. Ren Sets a card. During the End Phase, the effect of "White Nightmare" ends and the ATK of "Biphamet" returns to its original value ("Biphamet": ATK 4300 → 3300).

Turn 8: Yuya
Yuya uses a special card, "Booster Unit", alongside his Solid Vision system to outrun Ren, obtaining an Action Card. He activates "Performapal Pendulum Conductor" in his Pendulum Zone, using its effect to add "Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon" to his Extra Deck face-up, as well as increasing its Pendulum Scale by the Level of "Phantom Dragon" ("Pendulum Conductor": Scale 1 → 8). Yuya Pendulum Summons "Clearwing Fast Dragon" (2500/2000) from his Extra Deck, as well as "Odd-Eyes Phantasma Dragon" (3000/2500) from his hand, since he has an "Odd-Eyes" monster in his Extra Deck. He activates the effect of "Clearwing", reducing the ATK of "Biphamet" to 0, as well as negating its effects. At this point, Yuya figures out the secret of "Biphamet", realizing it is actually two monsters in one. While the right head's ATK was decreased to 0, the left head's ATK remains 3300; additionally, because of this, the effect of "White Barrier" would decrease any damage to Ren to zero when either of the heads was attacked. Yuya activates the effect of "Pendulum Conductor", allowing his Pendulum Monsters to attack simultaneously. Ren activates his face-down "White Howling", attempting to negate the effect of "Pendulum Conductor", but Yuya activates the Action Card "Exhaust Note", negating Ren's Trap Card and Setting it back face-down. The effect of "Phantasma Dragon" activates, reducing the left head's ATK by 1000 for each Pendulum Monster on Yuya's Extra Deck ("Biphamet Right Head": ATK 0/"Biphamet Left Head": ATK 3300 → 300). "Clearwing" and "Phantasma Dragon" attack and destroy both heads simultaneously (Ren 1350 → 0).
