[[Kal Kolter|Kolter]] begs [[Yusaku Fujiki|Yusaku]] to do something, and [[Emma Bessho|Ghost Gal]] gasps that Playmaker's going to lose. "[[Topologic Bomber Dragon (anime)|Topologic Bomber Dragon]]" releases its "[[Attack and effect names in Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS|Aiming Blast]]", but Playmaker activates a [[Counter Trap Card]], "[[Link Restart (anime)|Link Restart]]", negating the activation of a card effect that would inflict damage to him. The energy waves dissolve, and Playmaker adds that he can then [[banish]] "Link Restart" from his [[Graveyard]] to [[Special Summon]] a [[Link Monster]] from his Graveyard. He revives "[[Decode Talker (anime)|Decode Talker]]", and [[Varis]] comments that Playmaker is quite tough to able to avoid the effect of "Topologic Bomber" and improve his situation (in the dub, he comments that he'd be impressed, but if Playmaker was really any good, he wouldn't be in this situation). He ends his turn, reminding Playmaker of the effect of "[[Dragonoid Generator (anime)|Dragonoid Generator]]"; he must Special Summon a "[[Dragonoid Token (anime)|Dragonoid Token]]". Playmaker replies that he knows (in the dub, he notes that Varis will use it against him) and he Special Summons the "Dragonoid Token".

Playmaker declares his turn and draws, and [[Ai]] gasps that this is bad; they managed to survive, but they'll lose if they don't do something this turn (in the dub, they snark at one another). Playmaker replies that he knows, and Ai comments that they'll have to use their special plan, and Playmaker comments that they'll use "[[Skill|Storm Access]]". Ai notes that they'll need to summon a more powerful monster than Varis', so they'll need a bigger [[Data Storm]]. Playmaker asks if that means that they'll have to pray for one, but Ai confidently replies that AIs don't pray - they only calculate ways to win. He orders the [[Cyberse (world)|Cyberse]] to generate new data material, and a spear of purple light erupts from Playmaker's [[Duel Disk]]. A massive Data Storm twists out of the sky and engulfs the buildings, and Ghost Gal asks in shock what it is as she is swept away. [[Akira Zaizen|Zaizen]] notes that this happened the first time he saw Playmaker (in the dub, he begs Playmaker to win and save [[Skye Zaizen|his sister]]). Varis smiles, commenting that he knew that Playmaker would do it; he was waiting for this moment. Now his goal for this [[Speed Duel]] is complete. In the [[Knights of Hanoi]]'s headquarters, the [[Kiyoshi Kogami|man in the lab coat]] comments that they're ready, and he muses on the concept of having to destroy his own child, commenting that this must be poetic justice (in the dub, he makes no such allegory). He holds up a [[Fire Prison (anime)|brightly glowing card]] and releases it into [[LINK VRAINS]], causing it to appear above the city and glow brightly. Varis comments that it seems like his father is ready (in the dub, he just observes that it's the signal).

The Data Storm rises behind Playmaker, and Ai tells him to go; his courage will give rise to a new power. Playmaker rises up the face of the wave and he declares the activation of his Skill, and the wave crests and engulfs him. Playmaker explains that when his [[LP]] is 1000 or less, he can obtain one random Link Monster from the Data Storm. He reaches out, already grasping his right wrist to steady it in the torrent, and Ai gasps that it's a giant Data Storm; there's definitely someone powerful in here (in the dub, Ai comments that if Playmaker doesn't get a powerful monster, it's on him, not Ai). Playmaker struggles to keep his balance as the data swirls in his palm, a far bigger burst that previously, and above him, a [[Firewall Dragon (anime)|dragon]] flies through the Data Storm. Ai tells Playmaker to seize the wind, and Playmaker declares "Storm Access!" as the card coalesces in his hand. He emerges from the Data Storm with the glowing card in hand, and Varis admits that he's impressed. As Playmaker descends, Ai crows that this is the key card for a comeback, and Playmaker chants, "Appear! The Circuit that leads to the future!" as he releases the burst of light from his fingertips.

But Varis smiles, commenting that he won't let Playmaker use that new card. He activates a [[Trap Card]], "[[Remote Rebirth (anime)|Remote Rebirth]]", and Playmaker and Ai are shocked to see Varis activate a Trap at this timing. Varis explains that he can Special Summon a monster from Playmaker's Graveyard to a zone "Topologic Bomber Dragon" points to, and as Playmaker realizes what he's about to Summon, Varis Special Summons "[[Capacitor Stalker (anime)|Capacitor Stalker]]". Playmaker protests about what will happen if Varis does this, and Varis replies that he knows; the effect of "Topologic Bomber Dragon" will activate as a monster was Special Summoned to a zone a Link Monster points to; destroying all monsters in the [[Main Monster Zone]]s. He declares "Decimation Destruction", and "Topologic Bomber Dragon" releases a blast of electricity from its body, destroying the "Dragonoid Token", "Decode Talker" and "Capacitor Stalker". Varis reminds Playmaker that when "Capacitor Stalker" is destroyed by a card effect, they both take 800 damage. Their LP both fall, from 300 and 100 to zero respectively. Ai angrily asks if Varis is trying to escape with a tie, but Varis replies that it's not his intention; he can anticipate all of their moves (in the dub, Varis claims that it's far from the end; their Duel is just getting started).

The glowing card shines above them, releasing rays of light that cause the Data Storm to rise where they meet it. Ai asks what's happening as the Data Storm rises around them, and Varis laughs that he used their power to his advantage. Playmaker asks if he planned this, and Varis agrees that he did. The Data Storm forms into a twister between them as Varis claims that a Speed Duel is too limiting for their battle; the next stage awaits them. Ghost Gal is swept back as she asks what is happening (she simply groans in the dub), and her feed goes dead. Kolter cries Yusaku's name and Playmaker screams as the Data Storm sucks him off his [[Duel Board]] and into its depths. Varis laughs as he too is drawn inside the Data Storm. In the church, Zaizen stands with Blue Angel's comatose body, and he asks what happened to Playmaker and Varis. Ghost Gal explains that the tornado swallowed them, and he orders her to go after them. Ghost Gal tells him not to be crazy; she can't see anything. Zaizen grits his teeth angrily, and he looks at Blue Angel's body, whispering his sister's name (in the dub, he apologizes to Skye - he's failed her).

In the [[SOL Technologies]] headquarters, [[Knight]] mutters that Playmaker and Varis are planning to finish this where they can't reach them. [[Bishop]] muses that if the [[Ignis]] falls into the hands of the Knights of Hanoi, it'll put their company in the worst situation. [[Rook]] snaps that they should be more worried about why the Knights of Hanoi can control the Data Storm. Knight muses that there is someone who can, but it can't be... (In the dub, this conversation is shortened. Bishop wonders since when the Knights have been able to control the Data Storm, and Knight notes that only one man could, but it would be impossible to be him.)

Playmaker is flung through the depths of the Data Storm, groaning as Ai screams. They are hurled into the eye of the Data Storm, bordered by the purple walls, and Playmaker glows blue as he drifts through the air, where jade fragments of rock litter the area. Ai observes that they're in the eye of the Data Storm, but it's quiet (in the dub, Playmaker makes these observations, and Ai notes that it's ''too'' quiet, tripping over his words before pointing out that something bad is going to happen since something bad ''always'' happens). Playmaker spots Varis standing on an island below them, and as he descends to the island, he observes that this is Varis' field (in the dub, he declares that he's found Varis). He lands on another island in front of Varis, who declares that Playmaker has arrived, and this will be the stage for their final battle (in the dub, he snarks that he wasn't hiding, and they can continue their battle away from prying eyes here). Around them, the Data Storm twists violently through the flaming city as the glowing card lowers into its depths. Varis declares that they will settle this in a [[Master Duel]], and Playmaker repeats the term. The field appears beneath them and cubes of data twists through the air around them as Ai notes that in a Master Duel, the [[Monster Zone]]s and [[Spell & Trap Zone]]s are bigger than in a Speed Duel (Varis is the one to note this in the dub, and he specifies the number). Varis comments that the true power of a Link Monster's [[Link Arrow]]s can only be unleashed in a Master Duel; now he and Playmaker can fully unleash their powers. Playmaker agrees; he'll finish Varis here (in the dub, he asks if they're going to talk or Duel). Varis raises his Duel Disk, causing the interaction ring to appear around it as the glowing card descends and adds itself into his Deck. Ai asks what that card is, and Playmaker notes that it's likely something to power up his Master Duel. Ai admits that strategies in Speed Duels and Master Duels are completely different, and Varis tells Playmaker, "Let's go!". They both declare "Duel!"

Ghost Gal circles the outside of the Data Storm on her Duel Board. She gasps that it's no good; she can't get in, and Kolter curses, wondering what could be happening in there. Inside the Data Storm, Varis declares that he'll go first. He activates the [[Field Spell Card]], "Fire Prison", and a glowing cross appears in the air, and a vine-like frame and iron bars spread to create a cylindrical cage around them. Varis explains that his [[Dragon]] monsters will gain 300 [[DEF]], and if either player wants to [[Link Summon]] a Link Monster, its [[Link Rating]] must be equal or more than that of the highest Link Rating on the field. In addition, not only are Link Monsters the only monsters that can attack, but "Fire Prison" cannot be destroyed by other cards' effects (in the dub, before Varis reveals the immunity effect of "Fire Prison", Ai calls it smooth sailing if they can destroy it). Ai asks if this is the card that Varis just acquired, and notes that limiting Links is going to be a problem. Playmaker notes that he senses an eerie power that's even worse. Varis continues his turn, Summoning "[[Sniffer Dragon (anime)|Sniffer Dragon]]" and then activating its effect since it was [[Normal Summon|Normal]] or Special Summoned, adding another copy from his Deck to his hand. Then he activates the [[Quick-Play Spell Card]], "[[Quick Launch (anime)|Quick Launch]]", Special Summoning a "[[Rokket]]" monster from his Deck. He Special Summons "[[Magnarokket Dragon (anime)|Magnarokket Dragon]]", and Ai takes notice; Varis hasn't used this monster before. Playmaker comments that Varis is using his real Deck, and Varis chants, "Appear! The future Circuit that lights up my path!" Authorizing the Link Arrows, he explains that the Summoning conditions are two [[Level 4 Monster Cards|Level 4]] or lower Dragon monsters, and he sets "Sniffer Dragon" and "Magnarokket Dragon" in the Link Arrows to link the Circuit, Link Summoning the Link-2 "[[Twin Triangle Dragon (anime)|Twin Triangle Dragon]]".

Then he Special Summons "[[Linkbelt Wall Dragon (anime)|Linkbelt Wall Dragon]]" from his hand. Playmaker is surprised that Varis Summoned a monster in [[Defense Position]], and Varis explains that he can Special Summon it when he Special Summons a Dragon Link Monster. When it's Special Summoned, "Linkbelt Wall Dragon" gains two [[Wall Counter]]s, which light up two of the four red orbs on its forehead. Varis explains that neither of them can Summon a Link Monster with a Link Rating higher than the number of Wall Counters, and only Link Monsters can attack. It also gains 300 DEF from "Fire Prison", bringing it up to 2400. Playmaker notes the DEF value, and Ai asks him what's wrong. Playmaker explains that he didn't expect Varis to strengthen his defenses, and Ai notes that his play-style is more cautious than they thought. Playmaker notes that it might be part of Varis' plan, and Varis ends his turn.

Playmaker declares his turn and draws. Varis activates the effect of "Linkbelt Wall Dragon"; it gains a Wall Counter each turn. The third light on "Linkbelt Wall Dragon's" head lights up. Ai laments that it was careless to let Varis go first; due to the combined effects of "Fire Prison" and "Linkbelt Wall Dragon", Varis has the advantage in Summoning Link Monsters, and they can only Link Summon Link-2 or Link-3 monsters. Playmaker Special Summons "[[Linkslayer (anime)|Linkslayer]]" from his hand since he controls no monsters. Ai celebrates the high [[ATK]] of "Linkslayer"; more than that of "Twin Triangle Dragon", but Playmaker notes that the effect of "Linkbelt Wall Dragon" only allows Link Monsters to attack, and Ai yelps that he'd forgotten. Playmaker adds that the effect of "Linkslayer" to destroy [[Spell Card|Spells]] and [[Trap Card|Traps]] is useless too since "Fire Prison" can't be destroyed by card effects, and Varis grins (in the dub, Ai forgets this too). Authorizing the Link Arrows, he explains that the Summoning conditions are at least two Cyberse monsters, and he sets "Backup Secretary", "Linkslayer" and "Stack Reviver" in the Link Arrows to link the Circuit, Link Summoning the Link-3 "[[Encode Talker (anime)|Encode Talker]]". Varis comments that Playmaker already Summoned it, and Playmaker activates the effect of "Stack Reviver" from his Graveyard since it was used as [[Link Material]], Special Summoning a Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster from his Graveyard in Defense Position. He revives "Backup Secretary", who reappears in a crouch.

He explains that the effect of "Linkbelt Wall Dragon" only permits Link Monsters to attack ''it'', and the jade orbs in "Linkbelt Wall Dragon's" claws glow brightly. "Encode Talker" blasts a beam of light from its shield, which is redirected from "Twin Triangle Dragon" to "Linkbelt Wall Dragon" and dissipates harmlessly, though the resulting gust knocks Playmaker down to 3900 LP. Playmaker then Special Summons "[[Interrupt Resistor (anime)|Interrupt Resistor]]" from his hand, explaining that its ATK is equal to the [[battle damage]] he just took. Varis mockingly points out that it has 100 ATK, but Ai crows that they've Summoned it in Defense Position, with 2100 DEF. Playmaker's [[Battle Phase]] is over, but there's one more card that he can uses now that he's Summoned this card (in the dub, Ai claims more credit for the move). Playmaker activates a Spell Card, "[[Cyberse Cache]]", drawing two cards since he controls a Cyberse monster whose ATK differs from its [[Original ATK and DEF|original ATK]]. Ai cheers that Playmaker was able to not only strengthen his defenses, he also drew two cards. Varis muses that he sees as Playmaker [[Set]]s a card and ends his turn; Playmaker knew he couldn't get past "Linkbelt Wall Dragon", so he prepared for a new Link Summon. He thinks to himself that this strategy will cost Playmaker, and he will meet his destiny (in the dub, Varis mocks Playmaker for being unable to destroy "Linkbelt Wall Dragon"; Playmaker retorts that Varis doesn't know what the future holds).

He Summons "[[Autorokket Dragon (anime)|Autorokket Dragon]]", and he chants, "Appear! The future Circuit that lights up my path!" Ai observes that Varis is Link Summoning again, and now he's allowed to Summon Link-4 monsters. Playmaker realizes what Varis can Link Summon as Varis enters the Circuit. Ai gasps that Varis is planning to Summon "Topologic Bomber Dragon", and they'll be in trouble if he uses "Decimation Destruction". Varis authorizes the Link Arrows, and explains that the Summoning conditions are at least two monsters, and he sets the Link-2 "Twin Triangle Dragon" and "Autorokket Dragon" in the Link Arrows to link the Circuit, Link Summoning the Link-3 "[[Triple Burst Dragon (anime)|Triple Burst Dragon]]", which appears with 2400 ATK. He explains that when he Link Summons a Dragon monster with a lower Link Rating than the number of Wall Counters on "Linkbelt Wall Dragon", two of those counters are removed. As the two Wall Counters wink out, Ai asks why Varis didn't Summon "Topologic Bomber Dragon".

"Triple Burst Dragon" locks onto "Backup Secretary", and Ai expresses surprise that it isn't attacking "Encode Talker". As purple energy builds in "Triple Burst Dragon's" cannons, Playmaker activates the effect of "Encode Talker"; since it's pointing to "Backup Secretary", preventing her destruction and reducing the battle damage to zero. Varis retorts that it's not good enough; the effect of "Triple Burst Dragon" allows it to negate the effect of a Spell, Trap, or monster that activates when it attacks. Ai points out that the effect can only be used once per turn, and Playmaker activates the effect of "Interrupt Resistor", making the DEF of the Defense Position "Backup Secretary" equal to that of "Interrupt Resistor" and preventing her destruction in battle. Varis reveals that "Triple Burst Dragon" can inflict [[piercing]] battle damage, and "Triple Burst Dragon" attacks with "Precision Lane", blasting three beams of crackling purple light at "Backup Secretary" that knock her and Playmaker backwards, reducing Playmaker's LP to 3600. Varis ends his turn, and the DEF of "Backup Secretary" returns to normal. Ai wonders what strategy Varis is using and why he didn't bring out "Topologic Bomber Dragon". Playmaker suggests that Varis may have a different goal; since he didn't use "Topologic Bomber Dragon" he still has monsters on his field. Ai deduces that Varis will use them to bring out a new monster, and he comments that it's scary. Varis reminds Playmaker that it's his turn.

Ai cries that "Linkbelt Wall Dragon" is in the way, and they need to get rid of it. Playmaker replies that he knows; he'll go for it this turn. He Summons "[[Balancer Lord (anime)|Balancer Lord]]", and then he chants, "Appear! The Circuit that leads to the future!" as the Summoning conditions - at least two Effect Monsters - pop up on a status screen. Authorizing the Link Arrows, he sets "Balancer Lord", "Interrupt Resistor" and "Backup Secretary", in the Link Arrows to link the Circuit, Link Summoning the Link-3 "Decode Talker". He reminds Varis that "Decode Talker" gains 500 ATK for each monster it points to, and "Decode Talker" is shown to point to "Encode Talker" as it powers up to 2800 ATK with "Power Integration", materializing its greatsword. Ai cheers that the ATK of "Decode Talker" is higher than the DEF of "Linkbelt".

But Varis asks them if they're sure, much to Playmaker's shock. Varis was waiting for this moment; he activates the effect of the Field Spell "Fire Prison". The cross on "Fire Prison" glows brightly, and the vine-like structures grow, surrounding the cage. Particles of flaming data rain down in "Fire Prison", bathing the area in an orange glow as Varis explains that Cyberse monsters in the field, Graveyard and hand lose their effects and cannot attack, and they can also not longer be targeted by effects nor attack - it's as if they don't exist at all. "Encode Talker" and "Decode Talker's" images become corrupted, and they begin to dissolve as Playmaker gasps that they are vanishing. Ai gasps that his senses are going dark as corruption fizzes across the screen of Playmaker's Duel Disk (in the dub, Ai' gasps that it's not just them; he doesn't feel so good and he's feeling all glitchy). Playmaker gasps Ai's name, and Varis orders the Cyberse to vanish. "Encode Talker", "Decode Talker" and Ai all vanish, and Playmaker whispers Ai's name in shock.
