A '''Tribute Summon''' (Japanese: アドバンス{{Ruby|召|しょう}}{{Ruby|喚|かん}} ''Adobansu Shōkan'' "Advance Summon") is a form of [[Normal Summon]]ing a [[Level]] 5 or higher [[Monster Card|monster]] by [[Tribute|Tributing]] another monster(s) you [[control]]. Level 5 and 6 monsters require one Tribute, while Level 7 and higher require two Tributes.
Tributing a monster for a Tribute Summon is part of a [[costSummoning procedure]]. Therefore, if the Tribute Summon is [[negate]]d, the Tributed monster(s) won't will not return to the field.
Some cards can avoid the Tribute Summoning rules. For examplerequire 3 Tributes to be Normal Summoned, such as "[[Fog KingThe Wicked Avatar]]" . Other monsters can be Tribute Summoned with one Tributevarying numbers of monsters, or "Normal Summoned" without a Tribute. such as "[[Mausoleum of the EmperorMoisture Creature]]" allows you to [[pay]] [[Life Points]] instead of Tributing monsters.(This is NOT Tribute Summon)
The Some cards allow high-Level monsters to be Normal Summoned with fewer or no Tributes. "[[MonarchFog King]]" archtype revolve around can be Tribute SummonsSummoned with 1 Tribute, or "Normal Summoned" without a Tribute. "[[Mausoleum of the Emperor]]" allows either player to [[pay]] [[Life Points]] instead of Tributing monsters. However, if no monster is Tributed to perform the Normal Summon (as is always the case when using "Mausoleum of the Emperor"), the Summon is not a Tribute Summon.
The "[[Monarch]]" monsters focus on Tribute Summons.
