Kevin Tewart

Kevin Tewart (born 1970 or 1971) is Konami's current U.S. head of development for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. He makes product announcements and, occasionally, ruling statements regarding the TCG. Before Konami took over distribution in Q4 2008, he worked at a top senior-level position for Upper Deck Entertainment on the TCG.
Tewart frequented the pojo.biz boards under the name "KevinTewart".[1]

Tewart has often made appearances at events.
- Tewart and other members of UDE's Research and Development division used "The Seal of Orichalcos" during Orichalcos Duel the Master side events at National Tournaments.
- Attendees of the 2006 San Diego Comic-Con International received the Duel the Master: Orichalcos Challenge 2006 promotional card by challenging Tewart, Dan Scheidegger, or Justin Reilly to a Duel.

Tewart has made a number of announcements and ruling statements, including:
- Stating that the Second National Tournament prize cards ("Masahiro the Dark Clown", "Yasushi the Skull Knight", and "Tomohiro the Mountain Warrior") are fake.[2]
- Stating that TCG promotional cards are not tournament-legal until their formal release, in response to the pre-release leak of "Crush Card Virus".[citation needed]
- Stating that Super Short Print isn't an actual rarity.[3]
- Announcing the Problem-Solving Card Text update.[4]
- Announcing a TCG rule change to how certain monsters like "Sangan" and "Reborn Tengu" interact with Xyz Monsters.

- On May 16, 2005, Tewart confirmed he was currently 34 years old.[6]
- On April 29, 2006, Tewart stated that his favorite artwork was that of "Mystic Swordsman LV6".[7]
- On May 4, 2010, Tewart stated that he "dislikes" "Waboku".[8]
- Tewart confirmed that he started working on card effect wording after the release of Pharaonic Guardian, starting with Magician's Force.[9][10]
- Tewart has stated that he owned a copy of "The Seal of Orichalcos" and "Millennium Thousand-Eyes Virus", the latter a card that only he possessed.[11][12]
