Some Duelists wonder why anybody would play with "Upstart Goblin", because it gives your opponent 1000 Life Points when you play it.
The answer is that "Upstart Goblin" is best used in an Exodia Deck. An Exodia Deck wins automatically without having to reduce the opponent's Life Points to zero. An Exodia Duelist does not care if the opponent has 10000 or even 15000 Life Points at the end of the Duel. If you have all 5 pieces of Exodia, you win no matter how many Life Points your opponent has. With an Exodia Deck of 40 cards, you're trying to draw as many cards as possible. "Upstart Goblin" works just fine in a 40-card Exodia Deck to help you draw cards faster. | |
