"Irreplaceable Days" is the eighty-first episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. It first aired in Japan on January 9, 2022.
It's a typical morning, but Gavin and Romin are acting more distant than usual. As if to provoke Yuga, who is already bewildered and confused, Yuga Goha challenges Otes to a Duel. Yuga Goha also has "Monster Reborn" with him.
Summary
As Yuga bikes to school with Kaizo, another girl is asking Romin (who is carrying her old guitar again) when RoaRomin's new single is out. Romin explains they haven't decided on a release date and as the girl cries that she can't wait to hear it, Yuga and Kaizo greet Romin. Romin is repulsed by Kaizo's familiar greeting and doesn't recognize him despite him spelling his name out, causing Kaizo to overload from the shock and collapse. Yga whispers his Drone's name and Romin recognizes Yuga and greets him, but then they hear the Goha #7 Elementary school bell and Romin and the other girl rush off, protesting they'll be late. Yuga follows them slowly on his Duel-cycle, only to run into Gavin, who is surprised when Yuga greets him by name and Yuga remembers he used to just call Gavin the Student Council President. Gavin brushes the oddity off and berates Yuga for being late, telling him that starting his morning properly is important and beginning while late and pressed for time is outrageous; so being late is unacceptable. Poor Yuga can only gape in shock at his friend.
Later at recess on the school roof, Kaizo is still lying on the sobbing Romin's name while Yuga and Luke sit glumly at a table, Yuga remembering when he installed Rush Dueling with Luke, Romin and Gavin, and when they gave him their Duel ID cards so he could make his own Maximum Monsters. Luke admits he can't believe Romin and Gavin don't remember anything and notes it's a mess, and Yuga reminds him it isn't just them, but Asana too. He remembers when she found her modified R6 at Goha #6 Elementary, horrified at the modifications and demanding answers from Schubel, Galian and Caterpillio, who found themselves unable to explain. Asana hadn't wanted their excuses, lamenting her heart was being ripped to shreds. Luke grimly muses that Nail, Roa, Scoop, Yosh and Saburamen have all lost their memories of them thanks to Swirls and Yuga glumly states they're the only ones left. Rayne and Rino arrive, reminding them they still remember everything as well and Rino explains they've noticed something strange about "Monster Reborn", reminding them that while Yuga was unconscious when Yuga Goha used "Monster Reborn", Luke still retained his memories. Yuga realizes he's right, and Luke boasts that it's obviously because he was protected by the devil inside him, though Yuga, Rayne and Rino aren't convinced. Rino puts Luke's case aside for now and Rayne points out the only way to restore everyone's memories is to use "Monster Reborn" themselves. Luke asks why he didn't realize something so obvious and promptly drags them off, though Yuga seems reluctant and Kaizo is still sobbing for Romin.
However, when the five of them arrive at the Goha Enterprises Main Office, they find the Goha Six in disarray, answering phone calls, emails and sorting through paperwork as Yuo plays by himself and Mrs. Drone hovers over them all. Yuka gasps that the calls, complaints and emails just won't stop, Yujin worries the lines will be fried and Yuran admits they can't keep up. Even with Mimi's help they're completely worn out and Luke admits they seem busy. Mimi explains that they've been overwhelmed due to all the new Dueling formats and Yuga worries it's because of his Road, but Yuro explains the cause likely lies with someone else. Seatbastian reports in, claiming they've identified the cause of the chaos; the antagonism between new formats and the speed with which they're being created, and the culprit is likely Swirls. Yuga asks Seatbastian how Nail's doing, and Seatbastian admits Nail has forgotten all about Yuga and Rush Dueling, and though he's grateful Nail has returned to Goha Enterprises as a result he's still uneasy. Luke claims they need "Monster Reborn" to restore everyone's memories and asks if they can lend it to them, but Yuro admits that while they might be able to restore everyone's memories, Yuga Goha took all the copies of "Monster Reborn" after the Duel with Yuo. Luke resolves to just make a new one and runs off with Rayne and Rino, but as Yuga turns to go Yuro asks him if he would really be all right with using "Monster Reborn".
At the Nanahoshi Insect Ninja Village, Yuga Goha angrily kicks a rollercoaster cart off its track and asks why "Monster Reborn" didn't work on Luke, seething that something inside him is screaming that he's dangerous and clenching his fist as he calls Luke an obstacle that will be crushed. Nanaho and her subordinates kneel on another track, Nanaho reminding Yuga they were able to seal the memories of Luke and Yuga's friends, but Yuga still thirsts, commenting that this broth lacks despair and chaos and deciding on his next target, flying away with his President Drone wingpack, while the insect ninja leap off the track.
Down in the abandoned factory under the Goha HQ, Kaizo flies about crying Romin's name as Luke, Yuga, Rayne and Rino find the Duel Card Manufacturer, and Luke proclaims they'll be able to use it to print "Monster Reborn", but then Yuga Goha's voice comments that their friends aren't with them this time as he appears on a holoscreen, then insincerely remembers they lost their memories. Luke cngrily calls him "Swirls" and Yuga Goha claims there's more to come and all that awaits them is deepest despair. He tells them to watch closely and the view zooms out to show him standing in the Hologram Man's chamber, Yuga and Luke recognizing it. Yuga Goha calls out to Otes and accuses him of having Yuga Ohdo create Rush Dueling, then trying to erase it to strengthen the program, all with the goal of leading to multiple formats and bringing joy to the people. Yuga and Luke gasp and Yuga Goha comments that the world has Dueling at its center and Otes returned it to the hands of children, with the hopes of making everyone happy. Yuga Ohdo is shocked that Otes has done all this and Yuga Goha claims he knows what Otes is up to, commenting that while he presents his actions as obstacles at times, his ultimate goal is to take Dueling from the hands of adults and give it to children, takng out his black Duel Disk. The ground begins to shake and Otes emerges atop The Relic, Luke gasping his name. Otes holds up a finger, commenting that Yuga Goha's deductions were rather intriguing, but who's to say he's correct? Yuga Goha angrily snaps that doesn't matter and straps on his Duel Disk, explaining that he doesn't intend to get things go Otes' way anymore. Otes smiles and Yuga Goha claims that he'll have Otes taste fear and darkness at its finest. Otes smiles as he holds up his own Duel Disk, and they both insert their Decks into their Duel Disks with a cry of "Rush Duel!" to deploy the blades and the green holographic dome.
Otes declares his turn and draws, his hand containing "Mystic Shift Box", "Magical Hat Trick", "Magic Curtain", "Dark Magician Girl", and "Dark Magician". He pays 1000 LP, falling to 3000 LP to activate the Spell Card "Magic Curtain", chanting "Witness the power of the highest class of Spellcasters! Come forth, Dark Magician!" "Dark Magician" emerges from a red curtain and strikes his signature pose with 2500 ATK, prompting a snort from Yuga Goha. Otes then Sets two cards and ends his turn, and in the factory, Yuga gasps and Luke wonders what will happen.
Yuga Goha claims he'll guide them all to despair with his turn, drawing a card. His hand containing Endless Scaled Reincarnation", "Clawleon", "Kamaleon", "Mechaleon", and "Ecdysis Caliguleon", Yuga Goha Summons "Mechaleon" and "Kamaleon", then pays 300 LP to activate the effect of "Kamaleon". His LP falls to 3700 as he explains that he can send three cards ("Release Wrath", "Fiery Infernleon", and "Armored Lizard") from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard, and if he sends any Reptile Type Normal Monsters, he can add one from his Graveyard to his hand. He chooses to add "Armored Lizard" to his hand, then Tributes "Mechaleon" and "Kamaleon" to Tribute Summon, chanting "Expose all the fester, decay and death! It will all become my food, my strength! Come out, Ecdysis Caliguleon!" Otes hums in interest as the 2000 ATK "Caliguleon" looms above him and Yuga Goha explains that its Continuous Effect increases its ATK by the number of cards in his Graveyard times 100. With four, it gains 400 ATK, rising to 2400. Yuga Goha then Summons "Armored Lizard" and "Clawleon", bu the moment he does Otes activates his Trap Card, "Magical Hat Trick", returning "Dark Magician" to his hand and drawing two cards, and then since his opponent controls three monsters he can Special Summon three monsters from his hand in face-down Defense Position. A top hat appears next to Otes and he drops the three cards into it, the hat floating down to his field and splitting into three. Yuga Goha states that he can activate the effect of "Clawleon" since Otes controls a face-down monster, sending the top two cards of his Deck to the Graveyard to allow "Caliguleon" to inflict piercing battle damage this turn, and with another two cards in his Graveyard, "Caliguleon" gains 200 ATK and rises to 2600 ATK. Yuga and Luke gasp as Yuga Goha Sets a card before wondering which hat he should choose. He picks the middle hat and Otes gasps, Yuga Goha smirking that it looks like he was right as it transforms into "Dark Magician". Yuga and Luke gasp and Yuga Goha orders "Caliguleon" to devour "Dark Magician" with "Desire of Darkness".
But as "Caliguleon" blasts magenta energy from its maw, Otes smirks and "Dark Magician" and the two hats suddenly vanish in a puff of smoke as Yuga Goha gasps, revealing three colored chests, which open to reveal Otes' three monsters; "Dark Magician Girl", "Doriado", and "Dark Magician", with "Doriado" now in the middle. Yuga Goha can only gasp "What?" and Otes explains he used his "Magical Shift Box" to change the monster Yuga Goha attacked, and Yuga Goha curses that it didn't matter that he was right. Otes adds that he can also increase the DEF of all monsters he controls by 300 until the end of the turn, "Dark Magician Girl" rising to 2000 DEF, "Doriado" to 1700 and "Dark Magician" to 2400. The "Desire of Darkness" then consumes "Doriado", reducing Otes to 2100 LP and he smies, Yuga, Luke, Rayne and Rino gasping in shock. Yuga Goha shakes in fury over failing even though he was right, and Otes asks if he can read his mind, observing that Yuga Goha desperately wanted to send "Dark Magician" to the Graveyard. Yuga Goha gasps as Otes observes that the ritual of "Monster Reborn" is at its strongest when used on a Deck's most important card. Yuga and Luke gasp, Luke realizing that Swirls must have learned so during their Duel when he revived "Sevens Road Magician" and that he's trying to erase Otes' memories. Yuga Goha curses, ending his turn.
Otes declares his turn, drawing four cards, his hand now containing "Thousand Knives", "LaMoon", "Dark Reincarnation", "Dark Resonance Burst", and "Dark Magic Attack". First he switches "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl" into Attack Position, then he plays the signature card of "Dark Magician", "Dark Magic Attack", destroying all Spell and Trap Cards his opponent controls. Yuga Goha gasps as his "Endless Scaled Reincarnation" is destroyed, but reminds Otes it's another card in his Graveyard, and another 100 ATK for "Ecdysis Caliguleon", who rises to 2700 ATK. But Otes activates "Thousand Knives", and "Dark Magician" blasts knives that pierce "Caliguleon" and destroy it. Otes then holds up another Spell, declaring that the gates to unprecedented magic will be unleashed when two magicians of darkness join their strength, and Yuga Goha gasps as Otes tells him to have a taste of his own weakness, activating the Spell Card "Dark Resonance Burst". "Dark Magician" gains 1000 ATK, rising to 3500, then gains another 1000 from his kin, rising to 4500, and Yuga, Luke, Rayne and Rino gasp in shock. Otes Sets a card, telling Yuga Goha to know his folly, attackign "Armored Lizard" with the "Dark Burning Attack" of "Dark Magician Girl", destroying "Armored Lizard" and reducing Yuga Goha to 3200 LP. Then "Dark Magician" attacks "Clawleon" with "Dark Magic Attack", destroying it with a surge of dark magic and reducing Yuga Goha to 100 LP. Otes ends his turn and Yuga Goha asks if letting him survive was part of his plan, or if he's just that confident, though he vows to make Otes regret not finishing him off either way.
He declares his turn and draws five cards, "Monster Reborn", "Princessleon", "Metal Megaleon", "Mimicking Camouflage Sword", and "Explosive Rage", sending "Princessleon" and "Metal Megaleon" from his hand to the Graveyard to activate the Spell Card "Explosive Rage", and as he sent monsters with a total Level of 7 to the Graveyard he can choose a monster with an equal or lower Level that Otes controls and destroy it. "Dark Magician" explodes into purple shards and Yuga gasps, Luke lamenting that Yuga Goha destroyed "Dark Magician". Yuga Goha laughs, but Otes comments that Yuga Goha seems quite pleased to have finished the preparations for "Monster Reborn", claiming to have seen through him. Yuga Goha gasps and Otes activates his Trap Card, "Dark Reincarnation", adding a monster from his Graveyard to his hand. He returns "Dark Magician" to his hand, and Yuga seethes over Otes being so smug, but Otes reveals his Trap has another effect, shuffling "Mechaleon" and "Ecdysis Caliguleon" from Yuga's Graveyard into his Deck.
Yuga Goha is furious, but admits that while he didn't expect to be pushed so far, Otes returning "Dark Magician" to his hand has allowed Yuga to activate the Spell Card "Mimicking Camouflage Sword". Otes gasps "What?!" and Yuga returns a Reptile Type monster ("Clawleon") from his Graveyard to his Deck to activate it, forcing his opponent to reveal his hand and then sending a monster to the Graveyard. He reveals the "LaMoon" and "Dark Magician" in Otes' hand, naturally choosing to send "Dark Magician" to the Graveyard. Otes gasps and Yuga Goha adds that the ATK of "Dark Magicial Girl" will also fall by the ATK of "Dark Magician" until the end of the turn. "Dark Magician Girl" falls to zero ATK and Yuga Goha tells Otes to show him how he writhes in agony as he flips "Monster Reborn" around. Yuga and Luke gasp as Yuga Goha activates "Monster Reborn", commenting that Otes' insight is quite impressive, but Yuga is still one step ahead of him as their surroundings darken. He retracts his mask, sarcastically claiming it's such a shame he couldn't prevent this and calling "Dark Magician", who emerges from Otes' Graveyard on Yuga's field. He claims that Otes' plans are finished, Yuga, Luke, Rayne and Rino gasping and Otes gritting his teeth as he flinches backwards. Yuga Goha laughs uproarosly and smiles, ordering "Dark Magician" to attack with "Dark Magic Attack", and as "Dark Magician" blasts the dark magic at his apprentice, Yuga Goha chants "Let the living be sealed into light and let the dead rise from darkness!" Otes and Yuga Ohdo gasp, Luke recognizing the chant for "Monster Reborn", and Yuga Goha declares "Rush Duel Seal!" as power radiates from his palm. "Dark Magician Girl" is destroyed, wiping out Otes' LP, and he gasps as he sees Yuga Goha surrounded by purple energy, before being blown off the Relic with a cry.
Everyone watches breathelessly as a shaking Otes gets to his feet and he asks where he is. He raises his hands to his face, and Yuga and Luke gasp in anticipation, Luke calling his name, but Otes grasps his mask and desperately asks what he's doing here. Yuga Goha celebrates erasing Otes' memories and a shakign Otes stumbles into the darkness, the holoscreen closing as Yuga and Luke watch him go. Luke shudders, gasping that Yuga Goha even erased Otes' memories and Rayne cries that they have to hurry and use "Monster Reborn" themselves. But Yuga looks away from the Duel Card Manufacturer, and Luke, Rayne and Rino finally notice his discomfort, Luke asking what's wrong. Yuga points out that "Monster Reborn" is a forbidden card that can manipulate people's hearts and minds and using it is wrong. Luke protests that Yuga is right, but they have no choice now. Yuga protests angrily, and Luke snaps that he'll do it in frustration.
But Nanaho tells them she won't let them, leaping in with her two subordinates and footsoldiers. Luke gasps that it's the ladybug ninjas and Rayne and Rino react with disgust at their presence, Rayne telling them to get out of the way and Rino calling them the filth of the Nanahoshi family. The footsoldiers leap into action, and at Rayne's call, Rino quickly leaps away with Yuga and Luke as Rayne is surrounded, calling for his sister and diving back into the fray. Rayne and Rino prove to be more than a match for Nanaho's goons, but Nanaho nanas to herself as she holds up a button shaped like a ladybug and Yuga, Luke, Rayne and Rino gasp in shock as Luke asks what it is. Nanaho answers their question by commenting "Boom" as she presses it, destroying the Duel Card Manufacturer in a large explosion. As the smoke clears Nanaho comments that they won't be able to produce "Monster Reborn" anymore and laughs. Luke swears and then they hear Yuga Goha laughing as well. The holoscreen appears again, showing Yuga Goha standing atop the Relic, and he holds up his three "Monster Reborn", claiming he doesn't need them anymore. He tosses them to the ground, where swarms of ladybugs consume the cards as Yuga, Luke, and the twins watch in horror, Luke gasping "No!"

This Duel is conducted as a Rush Duel.
Turn 1: Otes
Otes' hand contains "Mystic Shift Box", "Magical Hat Trick", "Magic Curtain", "Dark Magician Girl", and "Dark Magician". Otes activates the Spell Card "Magic Curtain", paying 1000 LP (Otes: 4000 → 3000 LP) to Special Summon a Spellcaster Type monster from his hand, and if he does, it cannot be destroyed by Yuga's Trap effects this turn. Otes Special Summons "Dark Magician" (2500/2100) from his hand in Attack Position. Otes Sets two cards.
Turn 2: Yuga
Yuga's hand contains "Endless Scaled Reincarnation", "Clawleon", "Kamaleon", "Mechaleon", and "Ecdysis Caliguleon". Yuga Normal Summons "Mechaleon" (800/600) and "Kamaleon" (1000/600). Yuga activates the effect of "Kamaleon", paying 300 LP (Yuga: 4000 → 3700 LP) to send the top three cards of his Deck to the Graveyard, and if he sends a Reptile Type Normal Monster to the Graveyard with this effect, he can add a Reptile Type Normal Monster from his Graveyard to his hand, also Yuga can only attack with Reptile Type monsters this turn. Yuga sends "Release Wrath", "Fiery Infernleon", and "Armored Lizard" from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard, then adds "Armored Lizard" from his Graveyard to his hand. Yuga Tributes "Mechaleon" and "Kamaleon" to Tribute Summon "Ecdysis Caliguleon" (2000/0). The effect of "Ecdysis Caliguleon" increases its ATK by 100 for each card in Yuga's Graveyard. As his opponent Normal Summoned a monster, Otes acitvates his Set Trap Card "Magical Hat Trick", returning a Level 5 or higher monster from his field to his hand and drawing two cards, then if Yuga controls three monsters, Otes can Special Summon up to three monsters from his hand in face-down Defense Position. Otes returns "Dark Magician" to his hand and draws two cards, then Special Summons three monsters from his hand in face-down Defense Position. As Otes controls a Set monster, Yuga activates the effect of "Clawleon", sending the top two cards of his Deck to the Graveyard to allow a Level 7 or higher Reptile Type monster he controls to inflict piercing battle damage this turn. Yuga sends two unknown cards from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard and chooses "Ecdysis Caliguleon" ("Ecdysis Caliguleon": 2400/0 → 2600/0). Yuga Sets a card. "Ecdysis Caliguleon" attacks Otes' Set "Dark Magician", but as his opponent declared an attack Otes activates his Set Trap Card "Mystic Shift Box", changing all Set monsters he controls to face-up Defense Position to allow him to choose the attack targets of his opponent's attacks and increase the DEF all monsters he controls by 300 until the end of the turn. Otes changes his Set "Dark Magician Girl" (2000/1700 → 2000/2000), "Doriado" (1200/1400 → 1200/1700), and "Dark Magician" (2500/2100 → 2500/2400) to face-up Defense Position and chooses "Doriado" as the attack target. The attack continues and "Doriado" is destroyed (Otes: 3000 → 2100 LP).
Turn 3: Otes
Otes' hand contains "Thousand Knives", "LaMoon", "Dark Reincarnation", "Dark Resonance Burst", and "Dark Magic Attack". Otes switches "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl" to Attack Position. As he controls "Dark Magician", Otes activates the Spell Card "Dark Magic Attack", destroying all Spell/Trap Cards Yuga controls. Otes destroys Yuga's Set "Endless Scaled Reincarnation". ("Ecdysis Caliguleon": 2600/0 → 2700/0). As he controls "Dark Magician", Otes activates the Spell Card "Thousand Knives", destroying one monster Yuga controls. He destroys "Ecdysis Caliguleon". Otes activates the Spell Card "Dark Resonance Burst", increasing the ATK of a Level 6 or higher DARK Attribute Spellcaster Type monster he controls by 1000 ATK until the end of the turn, then if Otes controls "Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl" that monster gains an additional 1000 ATK until the end of the turn. Otes chooses "Dark Magician" ("Dark Magician": 2500/2100 → 3500/2100 → 4500/2100). Otes Sets a card. "Dark Magician Girl" attacks and destroys "Armored Lizard" (Yuga: 3700 → 3200 LP). "Dark Magician" attacks and destroys "Clawleon" (Yuga: 3200 → 100 LP).
Turn 4: Yuga
Yuga draws "Monster Reborn", "Princessleon", "Metal Megaleon", "Mimicking Camouflage Sword", and "Explosive Rage". Yuga activates the Spell Card "Explosive Rage", sending two Reptile Type monsters from his hand to the Graveyard to choose a face-up monster Otes controls whose Level is less than or equal to the combined Levels of the monsters sent to the Graveyard and destroy it. Yuga sends the Level 1 "Princessleon" and the Level 6 "Metal Megaleon" from his hand to the Graveyard and destroys the Level 7 "Dark Magician". The effect of "Dark Magician Girl" increases its ATK by 500 for each "Dark Magician" in either player's Graveyard ("Dark Magician Girl": 2000/1700 → 2500/1700). As a DARK Attribute Spellcaster Type monster Otes controls was destroyed by Yuga's card effect, Otes activates his Set Trap Card "Dark Reincarnation", adding a DARK Attribute Spellcaster Type monster from his Graveyard to his hand, then shuffling two monsters from Yuga's Graveyard into his Deck. Otes adds "Dark Magician" from his Graveyard to his hand ("Dark Magician Girl": 2500/1700 → 2000/1700) and shuffles "Mechaleon" and "Ecdysis Caliguleon" from Yuga's Graveyard into his Deck. Yuga activates the Spell Card "Mimicking Camouflage Sword", shuffling "Clawleon" from his Graveyard into his Deck to look at Otes' hand and send one monster from his hand to the Graveyard, then reduce the ATK of a monster Otes controls equal to the ATK of the monster sent to the Graveyard until the end of the turn. Otes has "LaMoon" and "Dark Magician" in his hand, so Yuga sends "Dark Magician" from Otes' hand to the Graveyard and chooses "Dark Magician Girl" ("Dark Magician Girl": 2000/1700 → 2500/1700 → 0/1700). Yuga activates the Spell Card "Monster Reborn", Special Summoning a monster from either player's Graveyard. He Special Summons "Dark Magician" (2500/2100) from Otes' Graveyard in Attack Position. "Dark Magician" attacks and destroys "Dark Magician Girl" (Otes: 2100 → 0 LP).
