Playing styleEdit
The series focuses on sending its low-level monsters to the Graveyard to activate the effects of its high-level monsters to destroy many of the opponent's monsters at once. The effect of the series' first two boss monsters each require the opponent's monsters to be in specific battle positions, with "Beast Gear Emperor Catapult Kong" only destroying Defense Position monsters and "Beast Gear King Convoy Liogon" being focused exclusively on eliminating Attack Position monsters when using its effect, so the series also has access to effects that manipulate them by switching their battle positions, in which "Beast Gear Secret Art - Primal Fist" is of particular note.
The Field Spell "Apocalypse - Beast Gear World" allows its members to gain an ATK advantage over the opponent's monsters and counter Decks that play Spellcasters, Dragons or Fairies. The Field Spell also makes teching in powerful Machine and Fiend monsters such as "Ultimate Flag Mech Ace Breaker" and "Royal Rebel's Heavy Metal" feasible.
The third boss of the series that was introduced nearly two years after the series' inception, "Beast Gear Sage Roller Stag" ties both aspects of the Deck by being able to search both "Primal Fist" and "Beast Gear World" while also disrupting the opponent and possibly setting up the former aspect.
Outside of the theme, various Beast-Warrior, as well as Machine and Fiend monsters that can work with the theme include "Savage Claw Tiger", "Jointech Rex", and "Royal Rebel's Growl", as well as the aforementioned "Ace Breaker" and "Heavy Metal", are available as tech choices alongside "Beast Gear World". "Jinzo" is a decent choice for the Legend card, although it carries a risk of locking the user out of "Primal Fist", one of the series' most powerful assets. The related "Heartless Hound" series can also be incorporated into the series, in particular its boss monster "Heartless Hound Martial Master Shiba", which can provide free revival of all members of the series except "Liogon", and the Spell "Woofderful Heartless Hound", which can act as Graveyard setup and ATK booster.
