Lists

Plant (しょくぶつ Shokubutsu) is a Type of monster.

Overview

As the name suggests, the Type mostly comprises of plants and plantlike monsters. Many Plant monsters have more down-to-Earth design, looking no different than plants in real life, while others are more fantastical, or contain some degree of non-plantlike traits such as appearing beastly or humanlike.

The usual Attributes associated with Plants are EARTH, WATER, and ironically FIRE. Plant cards usually revolve around massive swarming and regenerating back onto the field. Unlike Zombies, Plants are often used to fuel effects such as negations or as Special Summon material rather than for strictly attacking purposes. They have many cards that allow them to be Special Summoned from the Deck, hand, or Graveyard. Cards like "Lonefire Blossom", "Plant Food Chain", "Lord Poison", "Gigaplant", "The World Tree" and "Miracle Fertilizer" all add major support to bringing back a swarm of Plant monsters to overwhelm the opponent with sheer amount of usable resources. There are many good Plant Tuner monsters, like "Copy Plant" and "Spore". The Type's innate swarming capabilities have also give them noticeable edge in Link Summoning, with the "Sunavalon" archetype being specialized around capitalizing on that potential.

Plants also have Plant-specific versions of classic staple cards like "Solemn Judgment" and "Mirror Force", in the forms of "Pollinosis" and "Wall of Thorns", respectively. Plants have non-Plant support versions of "Marauding Captain" in the form of "Twilight Rose Knight", and a version of "Witch of the Black Forest" in the form of "Violet Witch".
